Very cool tip! Mine only have one tab, whereas these have two. I didn't have the right size screwdriver, so I skipped the tapping...but I'd imagine it would still work with just one? I didn't have the seperation like his had either, but my g string was slipping out of tune a lot and the tuner was really loose. I did notice that torquing down on the nut that goes on the face of the headstock did help to tighten the tuning peg enough that I'm hoping it will stay in tune at least for a bit. Next string change, (or if it's still slipping out) I'll do the screwdriver trick. I want new sperzels, but damn they are pricey these days!!

Thanks man! I’m currently restoring my 1992 Epphone Les Paul and used to be “that guy” who would replace pieces of hardware with new parts. It worked and you saved me another 60$ just by giving the worn out tuners a few blows with a hammer and screwdriver! LOL… Great tip!

Excellent video...very informative. Love my EVH WG Special. I also have a WG Standard. Both are excellent guitars. I actually prefer the Standard because it is so lightweight. I had to do minor fret jobs on both guitars out of the box. I put big brass blocks in the trems too. Big difference.
