Thank you for these tips! If I’m on a confetti heavy area and I see that one color has very few drills- I don’t pour them in a tray - just pick them out of the container:)
Im working on a painting that has a black background. In each section,i do it first then do the next color with the most drills etc. Sometimes i work on the colors, then the background.
Thank you for the tips. I refresh my glue dots in my single placer the same way. I also refresh the pink wax in my 4 placer by scraping it and moving some to the corners. Just thought I would share. ❤
Yes, your refresh on the multi-placer works with pink, blue, etc wax. This is the second time I have watched this video and wanted to let you know that it does work. Great tips BTW
1. Idid not like multi-placers until I dropped down to a six placer. Now I use, mostly a four placer to place 2, 3, or 4 drills. I get them straight. I do not waste a lot of time getting a bunch lined up, flipped flat side down, then hope that they don’t fall off before I can place them. I can do about 1000 drills or round an hour and 800 square drills an hour, and found that it really does not save any time by using a bigger multi-placer, it just adds frustration trying to fix them. 2. Having a tray of the main colors available, say 310, 929 and 838 at all times is so wonderful. It helps to have other colors in trays until I have finished the section as I never get all those drills on the first(or second) go round. 4. Usually working each section from largest amount of a symbol or most prominent, to next largest number of a drill color has been effective for me. 5. I refresh wax also, the pink wax, same as your wax. Works for almost the whole project. It did not occur to me to throw away the wax in the pen until it is so gummy it won’t work anymore, lol. I have a piece of card stock with a 10 x 10 grid of drills glue sticked on to push my pen against to work the wax into the pen and remove excess.
Starry Night was the first diamond painting that I completed. Thanks to your tips, I had enough confidence to work it. I don't have a stash but have seen more that I would like to order, someday. Have a wonderful day and stay safe!
That is so nice, Dorothy! You are the voice of reason in this case - once you start a stash it's all downhill from there! :) I hope you've had a wonderful week!
Thx for the great tips. I especially like the one about confetti. I go from side to side in a section but will try yr concentric method. Also, you're so right about the visual distractions. What I do is put on a movie I've seen before. That way I dont have to constantly look up. If none of my fave programs are on, I put it on a nostalgia TV, true crime or even a shopping channel. If nothing good is on, I'll turn down the volume and just diamond paint😁
Gorgeous canvas! Thank you for the helpful tips on how to speed up a diamond painting project. I am a very slow diamond painter, and I have to say, your tips are spot on for making it go faster. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and a fabulous start to next week. xoxo 💜
Amazing tips! I know back awhile ago you put out a video where you explained working dark to light and that has been a complete gamechanger! I used that method exclusively paired with organizing with all colors in ROYGBIV method so it was a quick process. A 58x80cm Square HAED Crown Jewel took me only 18 days.
Refreshing works for any wax. I've managed to master placing straight with a nine placer. There in a knack to it, which isn't easy to explain. Looking forward to drills and chills. Black Cat by Candlelight is waiting patiently.
That is great to know about the wax - thank you! I need you to give me some tips for 9 placing! I find that some drills go down straight with my 9 placer, but others I end up straightening. Rounds tend to be the worst. I'm excited to see your D&C canvas!! I'm so excited!!
I love listening to ambient music while I'm diamond painting. I'm still working on my first painting and I loved these tips; I can't wait to try some of them out as well. :) God bless you.
Great tips! One of the reasons that I love doing rounds is because you can finish much faster. There are so many great diamond paintings I want to purchase. I can only justify buying more by finishing the ones I currently have. Plus, I tend to one to move on to a new painting after a couple of weeks. Looking forward to drills and chills. Glad to see you are hosting it again. I've been looking for a painting that I could do for Halloween, so I was very happy when DAC released Warm Witch. Now I can also use it for your event!.
Great tips! I bought a "boat" load of trays off of Aliexpress that stack together and ordered stickers and I keep a tray loaded with the drills and add to them as needed. It has increased my speed tremendously! Can't wait for Drills and Chills!
OMG we have the same WIP, Jessica. Mine is square, though. I think that that will turn out beautifully! I’m going to follow your progress definitely. 😻🥳
As always your videos are relevant and informative. You inspired me to take on this beautiful hobby! Looking forward to the next event. Thank you!!! 😬🤗💖
I love those white large boat trays! I’m using one now.❤️ I really shouldn’t say this but if I can only ditch work, I’ll be faster with my diamond paintings.😂Thank you for these awesome tips!
Anytips you can provide for neck or back pain, I got a desk easel but I feel I have to stand and bend as well 😞 I love painting also please help with wrinkles and folds in canvas and how do you store them while they are partially done
Hi, Shizza! I have really struggled with neck pain in the past too. 😭 I find that the only thing that really helps is limiting my sitting time (even though it sucks). Because I work at a computer a lot, it can really exacerbate the issue too. I have actually been to PT as a result of my computer use, and they gave me some exercises for "tech neck" that have provided some relief when I do them consistently. (There may be a TH-cam PT where you could check some out if you're interested.) For wrinkled canvases, my best advice would be to lay something really heavy on top for a few days/weeks. I have tried laying canvases out on my table with books on top, and that does usually help a ton. When they're partially done, I usually roll them up with the drills out and store them in their original boxes. :) I hope this helps! :)
Minimize my visual distractions... Well...lol what I like to do is use the tv as a audiobook. My desk is facing a wall and there is no way i see anything but that. Earlier i had 2 trays going and a pen in each hand. My husband confused like your doing both? Might as well put use to being ambidextrious. Lefty living in righty world. He thinks our hobby is like watching grass grow and I said the same for his old man hobbies. 😂 To each their own. Ty for the video.
LOL! This is a great comment! I love to diamond paint with audio books as well, but I am definitely not ambidextrous! That would certainly speed things up! :)
I’m a new subscriber & Diamond painter. My question is how do you or what is the proper way of storing the cellophane sheet when done with the picture. Thank you..
i am new to diamond painting and I am wondering, when should you refill your pen with wax? every time you sit down to do a session or when the stickiness of the pen is gone?
Pink wax = anchors for boats so they’re less likely to spill over a small table bump. Also keeps them where you want them, especially if using a slanted angle.
Hi, Dawn! I definitely think there is a perfect multi-placing magic zone for everyone. I hate having to straighten as well, and it feels like it really slows me down. :)
Thanks so much for these tips & reminders. I was wondering how ppl work on confetti efficiently. We will be participating in Drills & Chills 2021. Looking forward to it! 🕷👻👹 Katie is awesome!! ~ Kel
Hi, Bethanne! Drills and Chills is a community event we're holding celebrating Halloween and the autumn season. Details will be coming out on my channel on 7/24 if you're interested! We would love to have you!
I agree about the visual element....I'll listen...scroll through or leave a comment...maybe check a link that's provided..ect. Next thing I know anywhere from 30-60 minutes have passed and I didn't drill anything! Like now..lol
where did you get that pen im looking for different pens i have lots of those pink ones i found that if i do one color at a time its faster for me couild you do a video about organizing right now im not able to walk i fractured my hip from arthritis im halving it replaced at the end of the month so that im in a nursing home im hoping ill be able to have my painting with me
Oh, Edith, I'm so sorry! I can definitely put organization on my list of upcoming videos. Thanks for the suggestion! The pen in this video is from Butterfly Effect Wares on Etsy. I love it! :)
I got label paper stuck to my canvas. I used a baby wipe to remove it. My canvas has lost a lot of stickiness now. Help! What can I do to get stickiness back on my painting? Thank you!
Oh no!! Is your canvas poured glue (clear cover) or double-sided adhesive? If it's poured glue Dotz Stick from Diamond Dotz is amazing! You may be able to use it to restore stick on double sided adhesive as well - I just haven't tested that combination myself. Here is an example: th-cam.com/video/WHg5SQJlgnE/w-d-xo.html
Hi, Edith! If I'm using pink wax, I usually squish my multiplacer down into the wax against a table or other hard surface to see if I can pack it in there pretty well. I hope that helps! (If you're using Paddywaxx, that process is a little different, so let me know and I'll point you to a video. 🥰)
Please show us how you actually diamond paint - we see close-ups which is very helpful but would really like to see a whole body view with the camera at a distance and off to the side - are you hunched over a flat table or more relaxed over a surface that is tilted - recently purchased an "art table" that allows for a tilted surface as DPing on a flat surface is a back killer for me (haven't put the new table together yet so hopefully it is a game-changer) By the way - 10 thumbs up for the suggestion of audio books over youtube - duh
Sadly my usual working setup isn't anything like my normal filming setup for logistical reasons, but I usually work with a tabletop easel at an angle. I agree - flat surfaces equal horrible neck and back pain. I hope the angle helps you too! :)
Thank you for these tips! If I’m on a confetti heavy area and I see that one color has very few drills- I don’t pour them in a tray - just pick them out of the container:)
