Pierre Grimard is the pianist. She worked with him for a long time. He is my favorite she worked with and she always has great pianists. This song is simply sad. I find it more sad then Je suis malade. While "Je suis malade" makes me tear up this song knots my stomach and closes up my throat and somehow it's worse then crying( if that makes sense)
I agree. I was thinking of Je Suis Malade throughout as well. They are thematically similar. But as Malade goes along, the anger and defiance builds. I guess I find hope in that.
This one though? **clutch my chest in pain** The melancholy and hopeless despair is complete.
Great reaction Jeff, thank you for doing more Lara reactions. Another wonderful performance from her. This concert „En toute intimité“ is one of her best concerts and really a Masterpiece. You could make a reaction to every song it‘s so good😉.

PIERRE GRIMARD: Their association dates back to the early 1990's. Pierre is from Rouyn-Noranda, a mining town in northwestern Quebec. The first time I saw Lara live was at a local bar in that city called 'Le Cabaret de la dernière chance' (Last Chance Cabaret) at a time when she was honing her skills doing small intimate venues throughout the province. They've travelled the world together. This song is from her séjour at l'Olympia de Paris.
The title has a double meaning in French and can have 2 translations in english: « I follow my heart », as you already pointed out, and « I am my heart ». And I find this interesting in the context of this song.

What surprises me is also how clear her diction is . That probably has a lot to do to her flawless singing technical ability allowing her to concentrate on diction , theatrical and emotion rendering. After all you can’t tell a story and being understood if you are not properly and clearly pronouncing each words .

I think I might be the only person who doesn't care for most virtual duets. To me, each performance is an organic, breathing creature. Smushing 2 together, no matter how skillfully, diminishes each of the real performances. Just imo.
