  • In this video, I’ll share a colorful minimalist abstract landscape painting demo, bringing to life a 10”x 10” (25.4x25.4 cm) cradled wood panel. I’ll utilize the vibrant hues of cadmium yellow and Winsor blue for this abstract art. In this painting demo, I'll share with you my techniques and tips for acrylic layering, a simple process that transforms the landscape into a vivid display of depth and character.

    Creating a colorful minimalist abstract landscape painting is more than just applying paint to a surface; it's about layering colors and textures to give the art an engaging and dynamic feel. I'll show you how to achieve a bright and harmonious contrast.
    The beauty of acrylic layering is in its versatility. As we build up layers, I'll demonstrate how acrylic paint can be manipulated to create textures that add complexity and intrigue to our minimalist landscape. Whether you're an experienced artist or a curious beginner, this demo is designed to inspire and teach the simplicity of creating vivid, expressive art.
    We'll explore the importance of each layer, how they interact, and why vibrant, contrasting colors like yellow and blue in abstract art can create such a dynamic impact. The process of adding layers gradually allows us to achieve depth, making the landscape come alive with movement and emotion.
    This video is for anyone passionate about painting colorful abstract minimalist landscapes, looking to explore the use of bright colors, and interested in the technique of acrylic layering. Watch as I show you how to build an art piece that's not only vivid and vibrant but also in the power and the ease of creating layers.
    And remember, keep on painting!

    Hi Chris. A really interesting demo. The beautiful result notwithstanding, you actually have a lot of interesting techniques here. Nothing simple about what you do, but you pull it off so casually. 🌅👍🧡👍🌅

      Hey Emmanuel! Thank you. There are some techniques that are easy to employ with so many types of paintings. When you do it a few times you'll realize just how easy some of these are. Thanks for your kind words😊

    I admire you a lot. Do you keep the same style and principles in larger size paintings - it 'd be great to see you painting in bigger scale the jewels!❤❤

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, A.R.! Yes, for the most part I keep the same style and principles on a larger scale. Funny, I planned this painting to be on a 24"x30" canvas, but realized when I was prepping to record that my lighting isn't set up correctly for a larger area. I'm having to make some adjustments so I can record demos on a bigger surface. Soon!

      @chrisloudart U may get ideas on backgrounds from cool lookin fabrics...Windham Fabrics, especially the graffiti, P &B textiles, the thread companies have amazing colors, just Google that, too many good ones to list.. embroidery and sewing threads, all different weights, and the variegated varieties give endless shades .??? like ur painting background on today's video.
      Adding stitches sometimes gives "way" 3D. Also, making jewelry with a board array of beads... then adding to the canvas as well.
      Nx ...well back to pottery workshop. Ann

    I see a large ship coming out of a yellow misty fog on a beautiful deep ocean. 🎨🖌️I use Golden Acrylics and they have //// across the top of the tube, then the actual color across it... depending on how well you see the //// shows the transparency / opacity. Matisse paint has the same as yours minus the semi transparent square.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I love that perspective of the ship coming out of a fog ❤️! That's interesting, my Golden paints have the symbols I showed on the screen. I wonder what the difference is.

    I especially like the way you teased the focal point out of this one, Chris. This would be a good one to repeat in various palettes, oui? Transparent acrylics are a joy to use but I do wish there were a medium to add that would render them opaque, without lightening. Would be great if paint manufacturers could provide both versions of a pigment. Thank you for a good tutorial.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, Ann! Agreed, this would be a great way to play and experiment with different color palettes😊🎨 I'm right there with you on wanting a medium to render transparent paint opaque without losing the intensity of the pigment. Honestly, I haven't looked into that, so I'll see what I can find out.

    That water wipe effect is great. I’ve done something similar by applying paint, adding a spray of water, and then after a few minutes, washing the canvas under a tap. If you time it right you can get really nice marking.

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Richard! Great tip! I'll have to give that a go. Do you just do a quick splash under the tap?

    • @richardsymes1844
      @richardsymes1844 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@chrisloudart If the paint without water on it has dried enough, you can do a quick pass under a decent stream of water, but if left too long it will cause unwanted paint removal. Takes a bit of practice.
