    I studied under him for one year. He is bigger than life and the best culinary teacher ever. He gave one valuable advice, he told me if you want to succeed in this industry you must travel around the world and study and work under as many different chefs possible, as I was preparing for my CMC certification (Certified Master Chef) conducted by the American culinary Federation), and for that, I owe him all my achievements in the industry. Thank you Chef Pepin for sharing your knowledge with me and many others.

      Shibli Ziadeh I am just a humble amateur house cook. I seen all his videos, cutting techniques and such. I can cut super fast and accurate now without any efforts .
      The man is a genius, he is so able to relay very detailed important information. Without over glorifying it all .
      Love it , I am super jealous you had the honor to stand in his presence and see first hand .

      True, but what is more impressive to me is that his cooking has no borders. He's a classically trained French chef, but cooks food from everywhere, Italy, Spain, Asia, even Southern Creole and Soul Food. He's a once in a generation chef and he cares about good food and good company far more than being "traditional"

    Watching him and Julia Child as a child on PBS heavily influenced me to go to culinary school and become a chef. "I don't wash my chicken" ,said with a smile to the camera. I remember watching that and laughing. They were so fun together. He influenced me, this little black girl in SC far more than Julia. I have his cookbooks in my library, not hers. I don't know why. But the man's technique shaped my formative years as a young amateur cook and then as a young chef. Now I teach others when I can. I am so glad he's still around and still cooking.

    • @tosht2515

      @M L I would suggest washing chicken if you ever shop at Chinese grocery stores. They have weird yellowish stuff underneath the wings and some still have bits of feathers stuck to the skin.

    Jacques is so humble, kind, authentic and down to earth, on top of being one of the absolute top chefs in the world. Watching him gives me comfort as if I had a world class French chef for a grandfather showing me how to cook. Can’t explain enough how much I love and appreciate him.

      I was a little too young for Julie's show at that time. But watching it later, I very much enjoyed her sense of humor. Funny thing about Jacques Pépin, even decades later, his shows do not seem dated at all.

      do you really use the word 'dude' in your daily life???

    • @tosht2515
      @tosht2515 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Marcel Audubon Depends on the context. You seem to not understand literary devices. Calling a respected older gentleman "dude" emphasizes the statement. One can praise Meryl Streep on an acting performance by saying "Girl killed it." Again, for emphasis. However, Dude and Girl would not be appropriate in other scenarios obviously. Addressing Pépin, you would never say "nice to meet you, dude."

I'd like to add to that it's also an act of love to pick vegetables and fruits all day long just so we all can have food at the most affordable rate. And for that, I want to thank everyone who've come over the border to do us all that most generous favor.
