OP DE KOFFIE #14 - Ira Shiran

Ira Shiran, yet another gentle wizard that I have the immense joy of playing with. We met through the very nice band Halva which brought us close in so many ways. Sharing beautiful music, never ending car rides, hotel rooms... Gentle, sensitive, always in service of the music and the group, always in search of yet another aesthetic experience, be it through food, art, or the shear beauty of human interaction. Ira is a gem.
Check his playing in Halva (third album Musafir is due in march 2024) and his band Ajvar, well, wherever you find him, it's always worth to listen to his Balkan infused chops, improvisational skills and amazing taste for and insight in melody, harmony and groove.

"Op de koffie" means so much as "visiting for a cup of coffee" in my mother tongue, Dutch. In 2023, I will be inviting 27 people to meet in Studio Galinella, this wonderful place I share with some friends. We have fun together and play some music, connecting through the most beautiful language we have.
