    Finally some good advice!!! Other then back patting and giving attention🙄🤦‍♀️😭 thank u, my sons about to turn 2 and he's sooooo badddd and it's so frustrating cus I tried attention, tried ignoring it, and all I want to do is hide in the house because he does it constantly, but obviously that's not an option lol. Just walking to the store, he wants to run in the street, chase a stray, watever it is and when I try to stop him from running off he SCREAMS so loud it's echoing a block away. Literally a full fledged tantrum and all I can do is carry him home while he continues screaming. It's overwhelming

    Hi, watching your video really does encouraging me to better up my ways of taking care of my younger siblings(3&5 yrs old) . Alot of time their screams are overwhelming and they don't want to be controlled. Fortunately, I realize that maybe it's not just them who needed a change but us too. I hope the best luck to us. Thank you for creating such wonderful and helpful contents! 😊❤️

    Instead of an intro I would find it helpful if you did an out-tro with your information, website, links etc. this goes for all TH-cam videos. I lose focus when the intro is too long which in fairness, you are great at keeping it short. Other than that, I love your videos and the info is super helpful!

    I've got grade school kids in my neighborhood who do nothing but screech and scream when they ride their bikes around. No laughter, no giggling just ear piercing high pitched screeching. I was a child once and I rode my bike all over the place and I never, ever made noises like these kids do - but if I did my mom would say please stop making that noise and if I didn't I would be in trouble. Why is it that kids don't get scolded anymore? They are NOT in charge and need to be told that and their behavior DOES affect everyone. Just because parents can't spank their kids they most certainly can tell them what to do and what not to do.

    Love that I have come across your channel. I am currently working on my undergrad in psychology :) I also have a 5yr old and learning how to parent differently from what my parents believe.
    One question I have...what can I do when my child starts crying, yelling and throwing a tantrum at the store over a toy? I know I’ve tried “planned ignoring” but sometimes it doesn’t work

    Is it okay to walk away or ignore the screaming. And then speak to them calmly when they are done to figure out what they need? I often ignore it and walk away until she calms down. Then we discuss what she needs. But I feel guilty for walking away and think it will make her feel neglected 🤷‍♀️

    Any thoughts on moving to an appropriate place to scream/let it out.... if parent is WFH #2020 and letting it out right there not an option?

    This is so great! For a nonverbal 13 month old, who doesn’t have the ability to communicate her feelings, should I mostly rely on grounding myself and positive reinforcement throughout the day? Would you still recommend not “giving in” at this age?

    • @TheMomPsychologist
      @TheMomPsychologist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes for sure. You can also get in the habit of reinforcing what words to use to get her needs met so she learns them over time.

  • @jennyquezada9644

    How about when they are at school or Daycare, the kids will expect to be treated the same way when having big feeling but schools don’t use those same techniques. So they’ll be their true self when in school but the behavior won’t be socially accepted as is not the norm as society is not fully evolved.
    What’s your opinion?

    Is this the same kind of advice for shrieking? My son is 2 and it feels like he's testing out his voice... But then we react negatively, and he starts just doing it to test US. We've been trying to introduce the idea of indoor/outdoor voices, but it hasn't worked yet.

    Where have you been my whole life 🤣 just downloaded your positive parenting guide and I absolutely love it. You so beautifully simplified and verbalized my thought processes and desires for parenting my children. I have four of them and believe it or not but my now one year old is the first that has really had tantrums and she has learned to communicate frustration with screams. 🥴 I look forward to watching more of your videos and learning options to best handle their needs.

    My 2 year old screams and tantrums any time he is asked to do something opposite of what he wants. Regardless of options that he is given prior, he still tantrums if he doesn’t get what he wants. Do you have any recommendations?

    Hello, I’m new to your channel. I just watched your video. I think that your tips are helpful under normal circumstances, but what can be done when we are dealing with a kid that is on the spectrum and doesn’t fully comprehend what he is being told or refuses to do so and also cannot fully communicate what he wants to say?
    It is extremely difficult to communicate with my 4 year old 😩. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thank you 🙏

    If I screamed as a child, I got slapped. It worked, never did it again.

    • @FilmerOfBobcats
      @FilmerOfBobcats ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what happened in my family and my boyfriend's family as well. We didn't get face slapped, but we did get one lick on the leg with a switch along with a parental command to stop screaming. It is actually very effective. They can cry all they want, but no screaming. It is physically painful to adult ears.
