I continue to use Captivate Classic. I am able to push the app and create very intense technical training that I am not able to do with the new Captivate or Articulate. I don't need an app to hold my hand and restricts what I want to do. Adobe should just have improved on the original app and add more options. I also noticed LMS's are limiting options and only providing the basic cheese and pepperoni pizza menu. We need to move forward not backward. Thanks for the video. Helps a lot.
That changing slide size is my biggest complaint...I can work around some of the design pieces, but scrolling on one page and not the next is so awful for me and for learners. Oh, and the lack of options for the Table of Contents to customize...and the fact that it says Table of Content rather than Contents and they haven't fixed that simple error in any updates. I love the clean look and the idea of using the templates and widgets, but so painful to actually do anything with them.
I cannot for the life of me understand a company as big as Adobe can offer such a messy update. The capability to corner the market is right within reach.
Great review and super-detailed, and the expert level knowledge you obviously have, makes it real and important! Thank you for making this video. I was getting very close to pulling the trigger on Captivate, even though I was pissed off at Adobe for making me pay an extra $34/month when I have the supposed, "All Apps" plan. What do you use or recommend instead? I am considering Kajabi. I want to create highly interactive training on AI software I believe in and use all the time, but I cannot work with buggy software and Kajabi bundles in lots of valuable services. Does Kajabi excel at building interactive learning programs which uses, quizzes, Anki style flash cards, integrates video, audio, text, and group tele and video/conferencing.
I have just come back to Captivate today after using it a fair bit a few years ago. Tried the New Version (about an hour to download install and try it) and it was absolutely lacking! I can't even find where to add Narration to a slide i have added or recorded! What a load of garbage! I ended up downloading the Classic version, luckily it still exists just to create some content quickly, but I can tell you I am going to find a plan B as Adobe, this company who has gouged cash out of our company for many years is NOT going to win me over here! I will now use a different product.
Well said! Yes, it's like they looked at the existing market of tools and said: "Let's do ALL of that!" Yet they didn't investment enough to actually pull off a radically different hybrid between slide-based and scrolling course development or consider legacy user needs or expectations.
There is no excuse for how bad this program is. The old version was awful but it at least it was not completely broken. Save your sanity, move to Articulate.

This video hits home. I was immediately frustrated by the things I couldn't do that I would expect any serious platform to allow me to do.
Another great video. Loving this series and no-nonesense approach.

I wouldn't call it messy, it's totally incomplete! The development team should be sacked!

I thought this was Pleasantville for a minute.
great video!

The new Captivate UI looks so similar to Evolve! Now if Adobe would only copy the rest of their homework, they might have a functional authoring tool.

LOL!
