When I built my home, I also used 5/8, fire guard, mold tough as every sheet, throughout the house and garage. Glued and screwed, no paper tape, two coats of setting with a topping of midweight. The material cost 15 years ago was only a few dollars more per sheet. But what a difference in durability. Walls just feel so much more solid. Nice to see someone else who worries about quality.
