Same. It probably started as a joke and more and more people became aware of it and it kinda gained its own life with people referring only to what they heard others say about it. So, for example, person A read on 2C that people never talk about the Samejima Incident, so that's what they told person B, who asked about it, and Person B continues on with it, while both people have zero idea what the supposed incident is even about.

Honestly I was pretty worried about the Poochie story but it seems like it was only stalking while they were in highschool. After that she genuinely tried to change her behavior and didn’t really stalk him as much as she was just still hung up on him and emotionally attached. Then they started talking and hanging out more regularly and formed a normal relationship. Seems like she sort of reformed herself on her own but still maintained a crush which is understandable. And especially that he seemed to go through a string of girlfriends regularly but ended up marrying her, she might be telling a biased version of events but it seems like that means he really appreciates and likes her. From his perspective he probably saw it as finally noticing the girl who’s supported him and caught him when he fell since childhood lol.

16:55 Please be aware that the idea of Miku's canonical age being 16 isn't true anymore, and it hasn't been for a while. Hatsune Miku has no canonical age as of now, as she is supposed to be an instrument with which you can project any story on to her. This was not always the case, but it hasn't been the case since about 2012 as far as I recall, hence why they selected the age of 15 in appearance for Teto back then. Hatsune Miku being 16 is about as canon as any of those "Genshin Impact character age" lists, a majority of it is fan speculation. This is why songs like "Rabbit Hole" using the Hatsune Miku voice bank aren't inherently problematic, as Hatsune Miku has no canonical age and you can assert any identity on to her depending on the intent of your song, hence why It's not borderline illegal to insinuate that she's a promiscuous sex worker in your fun dancy pop song or a world war 2 soldier in your depressing but upbeat musical number. Commonly ages like that are assigned to anime characters by Japanese fans simply because of the culture around Japanese college not really being like NA college. Here, College is when you get to have fun and relax after finally getting in to your dream school between your part time job and studying for exams. You can party all throughout college and we even have the saying "C's get Degrees" because as long as you PASS the course, you will still get your degree, and employers are VERY unlikely to pull up your transcript. In Japan, however, Highschool is the last time you get to be free and not worry about work and bills and excelling in college. Failing to EXCEL in Japanese college in certain fields will result in you being less likely to get a job in that field, they don't just look at the degree, they look at your performance too. This is likely where they got the age 16 for Hatsune Miku as well, since she would be of an age where she would be THINKING about college, but not all too worried about it just yet, giving a free spirited bubbly pop idol aesthetic.
Samejima: I wouldn't underestimate the Japanese tendency to pile onto interesting things with complete fabrications to stoke a fire. Even if it was real, it's far from impossible that people who didn't know if it was real were just saying so to make it look real. (And to anyone who wonders why they would do that... entertainment. Japan loves gossip and rumors...truth is always optional.)
Knew a few of these just by being adjacent to them back in the day, but quite a few new ones too. Lovely video, always enjoy subculture retrospectives like this.

My 10 year old son loves Uni and keyboard cat.
Did not expect to see Dynasty in a Sakura Stardust video, but I'm not complaining
That is a very adorable, well behaved co-commentator/guest star in the background there! Shibas are so cute.
Thank you very much! His name is Yusuke!
Rip longcat she will be missed 😔😢27:23
Man... I know most of these. I've been on the internet for a long long time it seems. Also crazy how tons of memes were birthed in Japan.
The way I G A S P E D when you said Junko Furuta
Oh wow, I didn't know Sugaru Miaki started on 2chan. I read Three Days of Happiness and been meaning to get to his other works for like 2 years at this point.
Three days of happiness is probably my favourite book ever. Its cool to see it get a shoutout 😊

Very interesting video as always.
Brief complain, please fix the bgm audio. Silent hill with guitar music at the same time is very distracting
