Very helpful imformation. As a person who has spent a small fortune on skin products due to dry itchy skin, rosacea, and fair, easily sunburned, and allergic to strong smells; I have had many battles. The reviews on Cerave has given me renewed hope. Thank you.
Your channel has completely saved my skin! I suffered from super dry skin and had a horrible break out of adult onset cystic acne; following your advice and switching to a simpler skincare routine with sunscreen every day has made a world of difference and my skin has never looked better! Thank you Dr. Dray! 💜
I live in Wisconsin and my skin always takes a beating in the winter. I’m so happy I found your channel because everyone else just recommends gimmicky products that don’t actually work and I end up spending more money than I should be. Just bought CeraVe cleanser and moisturizer, let’s do this! Also, I don’t know if you’ve tried Eucerin original formula, the one in the tub that looks like shortening, but it works wonders on my hands at night. Slather it on and put on cotton gloves, go to sleep, and the next morning, my hands are completely healed. Just thought I’d say that since I haven’t seen it recommended 💖
I _love_ vanicream, use it every day and it has a nice big pump bottle! I have been a fan of vanicream since my dermatologist suggested it, so I'm tickled pink seeing it being more well-known.
@Anna Feng Hi! I use cera ve a.m. facial moisturing lotion w sunscreen for the day. For the evening I use cera ve p.m. facial moisturing lotion. I cleanse my face with either cetaphil extra gentle daily scrub or cetaphil daily facial cleanser. I have also started using distilled water (warmed in the microwave) for cleansing my face. Since using the distilled water, I have noticed a difference in my (face) skin. Hope my info is helpful.
Thank you for this video! My friend and I started using CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream based on your rec and you are saving my winter skin! No more dry, flaky patches. A friend who hadn't seen me in months said my skin looks much better and more glowy 😍 I've also removed all skincare products with fragrance and re-committed to wearing sunscreen daily because of your advice. Thank you Dr. Dray, your videos are giving me life 🙌
Every time I watch you, Doctor, I am blown away by not just your knowledge but by your retention and ease of recall. You are a walking encyclopedia! Fascinating, just FASCINATING! I have to replay your videos as I do NOT retain what you say! Lolol If I can get well enough I’d like to come see you in Houston. We shall see! 🌹
I love the cerave skin renewing night cream. I’m on my second little tub. They last surprisingly long and it’s working well in this freezing Milwaukee winter.
I’m in Canada where we turn on the home heating usually in Oct and it’s blasting until spring. Even with a humidifier, I battle dry skin on both face and body and it’s been worse the last few years as I become “wiser” ;-). Dr. Dray, you are my go to for solutions to my skin issues. There are so many products on the market and I could be spending a gob on products that would be completely unhelpful. Thank you for sharing your professional expertise and personal endorsements. it means a lot to have these recommendations come from a medical professional. Learning so much!
I’d love to hear you on ointments! My skin is drier than I thought. Cerave skin renewing night cream seems not to be enough now that the cold is here. Thank you so much for all you do Dr. Dray!
OMG THANK YOU LORD KNOWS I NEEDED THIS ALSO THANK YOU FOR THAT MOISTURIZE RIGHT OUT OF THE SHOWER WHILE YOURE WET IT REALLY SAVED MY SKIN IM SO DRY & YOU REALLY HELPED WITH THE TIPS. Cant thank you enough
thankyou for the tip of moisturizing while your face is still wet from showering!!! Works wonders and i noticed that my face is more plump and has less dry patches.
Dr. Dray, if i could hug u right now, it wouldn’t be enough to show how much I appreciate your existence in my life. I Would really appreciate if you also suggest lotions for body for itchy dry skin in this this weather.
I have oily skin but the cerave night renewing cream is my holy grail moisturizer. In fact, I find this to work great in the mornings too (under sunscreen of course). I find that it gives a matte finish even though it’s a slightly “heavier” cream. Highly recommend!
Yes, PLEASE DO make a video on ointments that are dry/sensitive face friendly! I use Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment on my face religiously because it’s the only product that I’ve found which traps hydration in my skin. Aside from the CeraVa ointment, which I just bought and am excited to try for the first time, I would be thrilled to know about other options that are safe to try. People think I’m a weirdo for putting ointment on my face...I’d love to watch a video of yours to learn more about it and share the knowledge with all of my weirded-out friends & colleagues. Thanks for your channel! You’re the best.
Omgosh, thank you, thank you, thank you for this video. I'm struggling with using both tretinoin AND weather change, so my skin is a hot mess right now. Thanks, Dr. Dray for recommending things that I can actually afford as well. (Unlike some other Derms on IG/FB who only push medical-grade products, which are just too expensive for the majority of us to buy.) Blessings!
Please do a review of ointments. The information I have been getting from your channel has been very helpful. I’m using the products you recommend and my skin is much better. I’m 66 and aging has made my skin more sensitive.
I use CeraVe Moisturizuring Cream on my body and face and I'm very skeptical to using body creams on my face but this cream is fungal acne and acne safe, so, love that. Its very velvety and thick and it sinks in matte. I prefer a dewy look but I don't mind matte. So oily people would really benefit from this.
Ive been wanting to say thanks! i'm past 70 now and not liking the creepy skin all over and especially wrinkles above knees which are normal--BUT I live in a climate with such hot, dry summers that you have to wear shorts and other light clothing. Since Ive been using that jar of CeraVe moisturizer--my wrinkles son legs and arms are so decreased! now using it daily. You are right -so much better than crepe erase -which didn't help.
I have eczema patches on my face and back and I have never heard half of these suggestions, much less at such great price points. I've spent so much money on products that don't deliver. Can't wait to try the La Roche-Posay balm!!!!
In our house we go through tubs and tubes of Cerave and LRP Cicaplast. My husband thinks Cerave is the best moisturizer that he's ever used. 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤ And yes a video of favorite ointment pls!
In our lovely winter weather I can freeze my face just walking to the bus (buried in my scarf and hat I look like an arctic explorer). Then you get on a bus and receive a blast of hot dry (and germ filled) air and your skin feels shocked. My office is a dry hell unto itself and I have a desk top humidifier just to survive. I use night creams in the day and still find myself spritzing my face with a moisturizing mist and reapplying cerave cream around noon. I used to make my own face cream with Shea butter and lanolin that I applied to my cheeks in winter. Make-up becomes the art of the light touch. Although my skin would initially feel greasy, by the time I reached my office my skin had drunk it all in. I may get out my recipe and whip up a batch. And it's only November... 😩
Ooooo i just picked up the cerave tub! And la roche posay cica bomb and my flakey NY skin can’t thank you enough! Sephora products has made my skin so sensitive 😩 PLEASE MAKE A SPF VIDEO FOR WINTER SKIN!!!!! 🌬❄️🌤❄️☃️
The winters are pretty mild & snow-free where I live. That being said, dry winter skin still happens & I would love to see a video of your favorite ointments! 😊
Your videos are addicting! What a gift you are to all of us. Because of your knowledge of skin conditions and ingredients in products, for the first time in my 65 years I have soft skin on my body. My eczema is also nearly cleared up. Thank you!
Very timely especially now the electric heater is on at night. I do love the Cerave rough n bumpy cream for knees and elbows. Going to try the night cream 🦋
I start using Ponds cold cream as a prewash/makeup remover before my regular cleanser, especially in the winter. It instantly fixes dry or tight skin for me, I let it sit on my face for a few minutes before rinsing it off. I am usually on the oily side and this doesn't exacerbate it. My grandma used it every evening too, so it's withstood the test of time. I did try the Asian oil cleansers that you recommended, but I still go back to the cold cream. You can use it like a face mask too if you are feeling really dry, and massage your face with it. Put some on your dry chapped hands too or mix a bit with your lotion. I love it! 🥰
I can’t thank you enough for your evidence based recommendations for skin care. These moisturizers have helped me immensely! Would love to hear your thoughts on acne spot treatment stickers/patches and hydrocolloid patches, if you would be willing. Thanks again Dr. Dray!
Miss Breadstick I’ve used the patches and liked them. They really do absorb gunk overnight, which is so satisfying to see in the morning. They only really work for spots with a whitehead though.
The 2x Barrier Cream is that perfect happy medium creamy texture that I think almost any skin type would enjoy it at night. One of the few products I could use while I was going through the retinization process after starting tretinoin. It's not too thick out of the tube but you can feel it's more substantial than it first seems as soon as you apply it. So glad to see it made the list.
@@k819849 I don't have to rub very much. It can look white if you apply a lot at the same time but a little gentle tapping will get it to set down if you're impatient for it to absorb.
I’ve become a CereVe junkie! The colder the weather becomes the drier my skin becomes, from head to toe! I’m applying CereVe cream, not lotion, several times a day! I have the large jar with the pump, which is fantastic! I think I need like a gallon refill bag, lol! A regular jar to refill my pump jar won’t last long. I prefer the CereVe because I feel it helps my nails as well? I have my hands in water several times a day, so I’m following up with CereVe cream and I massage into cuticles. I use the skin repairing night cream every night after cleansing and toning. Thank you for this video and your time! Do you have a video advising how to care for cuticles? You advised NOT to push them down and not to cut, I believe? Also off topic, but I had to mention it. Dr. G’s Brightening Peeling gel Mild, is SO satisfying to use! I have sensitive skin and have the occasional rosacea flare. The Brightening Peeling gel does not irritate my skin or cause a rosacea flare! I can even use it more than once a week! I hope it’s actually exfoliating the dead skin cells on my face! All love to you, Dr. Dray!
i’ve used vanicream’s moisturizing cream for years on the face even in the summer sometimes honestly because my skin is so so dry and sensitive. i don’t think i’ll ever use anything else
I just bought the tub of Cerave Healing Ointment a couple days ago (there was a $5 off coupon on the tub!!! Hopefully more folks can find that). So far, so good. My eczema flare on and around my lips is starting to calm down. It’s helped protect me from further wind burn. Thank you!
Thank you for recommending the yves rocher cream! it's easily available and affordable in my country and I never considered them because I thought all their products had fragrance in them. Definitely gonna try it👍🏻
@@DrDrayzday I'm using that moisturizer - the soothing one not the anti-redness and am liking it. What cleanser do you recommend to use with it? I am normal to oily and sensitive 33yrs of age. Thank you
Idk, with the vanicream tub vs the cereve tub, I’ve noticed the vanicream is def heavier. I wouldn’t consider them interchangeable. As someone who uses the cereve cream during the harsh winter, and found sections of my face like cheekbones and eyelids continueing to still get dry, I found that spot treating those areas after moisturizing with vanicream was very helpful with its longevity. That said, it definitely sits heavier on the skin, and doesn’t soak in as much as cereve. Even in the dead of winter, I wouldn’t slather my whole face in vanicream though. Both tubs are great.
The CeraVe Skin Renewing night cream saved my winter skin! I picked it up less than a week ago and in a matter of days the dry flaky skin on my forehead is completely gone!
Thank you for these videos Dr Dray. I'm 57 and now have the best skin of my life thanks to you. Would love to see a video on heavy duty moisturizers for the body.
Thank you soooo much for this video. I love it. Winter can be harsh in Canada 🇨🇦 and it’s hard on your skin, specially on snowy days. Bigs hugs to you Dr Dray.
This video helped me SO much!! For the most part my skin has been really good this year, but now that winter has arrived (I live in Australia) my eczema on my face has flared up and not ONE cream I own has helped it!! I used some fresh aloe on it and saw a bit of improvement but needed to find a easier solution! Definitely will be purchasing La-Roche Cicaplast and giving it a go! Sounds perfect for what my skin is going through right now! Thank you so much 😭💙
Dr Dray, could you discuss your recommendations for care of the skin on the hands? I am an RN and at times I feel like the hand washing almost makes my hands feel like I have a chemical burn. My hands just sting. What can I use to restore the integrity of the skin if my hands?
Ditto, going to look at Remedy brand... thinking it will act like the higher priced skin barrier cream. Can't think of name but think Glove is in the name.
Yes, I'd love to see a video on ointments! This video is EXACTLY what I needed to see right now! Thank you for your perfect timing with this great list of appropriate products and you gave just enough information to help me make my decisions to suite my own needs. You always have such thoughtful content and helpful insights to share with your audience. Your videos have really improved my confidence in navigating this confusing (and often expensive) world of skin care and cosmetic retail. I'm so glad I can learn some tidbits from you, a professional who's speaking layman's terms, as opposed resorting to "trust" labels, advertisments, and marketing schemes. Let's face it, reading all of the ingredient lists of every prospective purchase while shopping around is overwhelming and pretty much calls for a no-nonsense dermatologist to break it down and give the thumbs up. I kinda wish you had a store of all of these curated, Dray-approved products.
Thank you for mentioning body cream on your face. I live in the Northeast and have severely dry and sensitive skin. In the winter I use a heavy duty hand lotion on my face. My friends are aghast. But I feel as though my face deserves at least as much protection as my hands.
Loved This Video Dr. Dray!! I'm Using my Old Faithful Vanicream!! It is Really Going To Drop in Temperature Her, So I'm Stocked Up and Ready For It!! This Video Couldn't Have Come At a Better Time!! Thank You as Always For a Perfect Video!! Please Enjoy Your Day, and I Hope it is a Wonderful One!! Always!! xoxox!!
I know this is off topic, but just wanted to share that I have been using the Free and Clear Shampoo as a makeup remover. It has been life changing for my extremely sensitive, eczema prone and contact dermatitis facial skin. I have been having reactions to every other makeup remover or oil and was at wits end thinking I needed to give up wearing makeup since I couldn’t get it off without a horrible flare up. Hopefully this helps someone else.
Because of dr. Dray I became open to trying brands that I wouldn’t have had before like cetaphil. I am in love with the pro restoraderm eczema soothing moisturizer. It has niacinamide and it moisturizes my skin without irritating my sensitive skin. Thanks dr dray for allowing me to really look at products in a way that’s helpful to me! 💜💜
This was so helpful! I love how affordable so many of these products are! What do you recommend for dry hands with eczema? Would some of these lotions work for that? I’m not sure what it is about Eucerin products, but almost all of them cause me to break out in severe hives 😥
I'm so glad to stumble upon this video! The weather just changed and my face hurtsss for the first time in my lif thanks to standing watch for 5 hours at a time outside. Can't wait to go shopping & hopefully relieve this itchiness! Thank you! ❤
Since I started watching Dr. Dray, my favorite thing to do post shower is say "What do we say to transepidermal water loss? Not today!" as I slather baby CeraVe on my face. My skin has never been better, you gotta do it with attitude for best results.

No more dry spots near my chin, thanks to Dr. Dray. My skin looks so much better. Thank you.
Happy Monday! This is just in time for the insane temp dip in NYC.

Yass! Would love a video of your favorite ointments ❤
I have oily skin and can get away with Neutrogena Oil Free or CeraVe PM all year round but this was good to know!
🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️definitely want an ointment video! Thanks for everything you teach us dr dray!!
Definitely gonna try it👍🏻
sunfloweralkh that moisturizer is really nice 👍🏼
The Ceraphil is my favorite nighttime moisturizer. You mentioned it in one of your older videos, so I decided to try it.
Mine too :)
Sherry G 👍🏼
The CeraVe Skin Renewing night cream saved my winter skin! I picked it up less than a week ago and in a matter of days the dry flaky skin on my forehead is completely gone!
Unfortunately, Chicagoans are already in Winter. 😭😭😭 Definitely a dry, cold climate. Also, I use Cerave PM year-round. Oil of OILAY over here!

I'm in Toronto, Ontario and we just had our first snow day😢😵
yes the wind isn't forgiving! Even my scalp is suffering!
Thank you for these videos Dr Dray. I'm 57 and now have the best skin of my life thanks to you. Would love to see a video on heavy duty moisturizers for the body.
Dr Dray, you might also love the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Lip balm.
YES please do ointment video! Amlactin Rapid Relief saved me with straight glycerin!
My go to night repair is Devil's Club Salve by Wintersong out of Sitka, AK
Dr. Dray, thank you for mentioning Soon Jung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream. This is helping my dry, sensitive skin a lot.
Love this! ‘‘Tis the season for dry, itchy skin.
I use cetaphil. Pretty good. Its thick and offers all day moisture. I've heard about cera ve. Next on my list. Thanks doc.
I love CeraVe in the big tub. I usually use the SA version. My skin tends toward oily and it’s perfect! It’s a workhorse in my skincare.
Love the cicaplast balm, too!
jean I’ve just ordered the cicaplast balm as I have normal to dry skin, hopefully I like it😊
Yes, I'd love to see a video on ointments!
It's like you've read my mind. I needed this video!
Always!! xoxox!!
@Diana Moore Thank You Precious!! I Hope You Had a Beautiful Day, and I Hope You Have a Lovely Evening Sweet Pea!!
Jackie Marsh thanks Ms Jackie
yes!!! please talk about ointments...I live in Toronto Canada and it's already feeling like a Canadian winter..Thanks
Y’all gotta try the Aveeno Eczema Therapy daily moisturizing cream!!
Thank you thank you thank you! I listened to some of your tips and 2 weeks later my skin is sooo much better.
Dr dray what are your recommended products for caring for a beard? Asking for my boyfriend whose beard is dry in the winter.
Alyssa see my video on Gillette and skin care differences between men and women
I know this is off topic, but just wanted to share that I have been using the Free and Clear Shampoo as a makeup remover. It has been life changing for my extremely sensitive, eczema prone and contact dermatitis facial skin. I have been having reactions to every other makeup remover or oil and was at wits end thinking I needed to give up wearing makeup since I couldn’t get it off without a horrible flare up. Hopefully this helps someone else.
Dr Dray is the best! She's like the Dr Phil of dermatology, she 'tells it like it is'. No sugar coating or bullshit!
Thank you! ❤
