Avatar depicts government as flawed. Fire Nation soldiers tax citizens and threaten to burn thier house if they don't pay. Northern Water Tribe is seen more in a positive light but still shows the archaic structure of forced marriage in a poor light. Earth kingdom has a general or military official that tortures Aang and his friends until Aang reaches the Avatar state. The Earth King is oblivious to anything happening right under his nose. Avatar depicts people as flawed. It shows that there is good and bad people all around. It shows that governmental systems are not perfect. Before the show was being produced the writers storyboarded the whole show down to some pretty specific details at times from what I have heard. The original intent was not for the Earth kingdom to be the aggressor I can gaurentee you that.

We only saw toph use metal bending for less than six months after she literally invented it at 12 years old.It’s safe to say that if she had had kuvira’s experience and training she would have been one of if not the best and most natural metal benders in the world.

Kuvira is the best ATLA world character or at least tied with Azula. Kuvira is so well written and I feel really sorry for her. Sure he did horrible things but she was not raised well until she met the Beifong family and even they struggled to raise her with her past trauma. She wanted to protect but became power hungry and in her own mind was doing the right thing. In some ways she was like Adolf Hitler he truly believed he was right and everyone else was wrong. They both had horrible actions but the difference is Kuvira changed and helped the main heros.
im not even gonna go into all of what is wrong w ur argument but im just gonna say this: the best arcs in the ATLA universe are in ATLA itself. Zuko, Katara, Aang, and Sokka are definitely the contenders for the best characters (Azula's arc had a few problems).
@@newt2120 Kiyoshi is insanely powerfull, but I do believe that Kyoshi could lose against Kuvira and her troops. Generally the strongest bending types are combustion bending and bloodbending. Bloodbending doesn't really work against the avatar and combustion bending just depends on how sneaky you are and if you can keep distance (if you're sneaky, a combustion bender can literally kill anyone in one shot). Now Kuvira can't do either of those, she does however have two advantages. Kyoshi can't metalbend, so Kuvira's attacks can't just be bended back at her. AAAaaaaand Kuvira has a giant lazer cannon that just removes anyone. Korra used energybending to stop the blast. A feature she got from Aang, who got it from a lion turtle. Since Kyoshi couldn't do this, that blast could end her swiftly. ofcourse, it just depends who gets the drop on who.

You can see on my channel that I've made an edit of Jinx and most recently, Catra. Both of those characters have done a lot of horrible things that I sure as hell don't condone. As a Queer woman, I also know that whether intentionally or not, Kuvira has appealed to a widely Sapphic audience. Your original comment about "more female war criminals" sounds a lot to me like a joke that would be made in Sapphic culture, which is why while I understood the sarcasm, I didn't see that it was meant to have a genuinely negative connotation until I read the replies. In fact, there are a whole lot of villains that appeal to a Queer audience, and a lot of people who will make jokes along the lines of "it's okay because they're hot," but not a whole lot of people who unironically believe that the actions of characters like Kuvira are ethical. Suspension of disbelief can be complicated, and people have varying levels of comfort with it. Our comfort levels are obviously different, and that's okay. I'm not trying to say that you're wrong for feeling the way that you do, I just wanted to share my perspective.
