True, korra has basically but not directly killed almost every villain she has face. Amon and tarlok committed suicide, Unalaq died when korra ripped raava out of him, ghazan and Ming hua died when Ming hua got electrocuted by Mako, and ghazan brought the mountain down on himself after the red lotus tried to kill korra Korra goes upfront in fights, not wasting time with taking and getting the fight to end as soon as possible while also caring about others around her.
Yeah I love how Korra is the polar opposite to Aang. He would try to find the most diplomatic solution, she is just like "Violence is not an answer. It's a question, and the answer is yes."
To think Nickelodeon didn't want Korra to be a girl at first because they thought boys wouldn't watch it. But the creators were persistent with there idea by introducing korra to young boys and overall received positive feedback from them. Eventually Nickelodeon told them they can pursue their idea. Best decision !
I read something like that, but the fact that some dudes still HATING LOK just because the avatar conection thingy... I get it, I hate it too but Legend of aang and Korra are different shows! Is like wanting to hate Kyoshy just because she didnt hasitate when the option of killing a bad dude presented! I Love LOK more than i like the legend of Aang just because Korra was a woman, ppl expected her to be an Aang Clone, and no! She was herself all the way!
That or they would have been mortal enemies. sometimes if your too similar to another person, you can actually end up with an enemy instead of a friend. korra and kyoshi are both strong willed, thick headed alpha women. putting two women like that together in the same room is like setting off two bombs and waiting to see which one goes off first.
Even tho korra has had some rude moments and she ignored many advices that were given to her, she had a cool character development and i really liked her in her badass moments
Me too. I mean it just shows that's she's progressing and it's part of her character development. I preferred it that way than a too good kind of mc. It's more believable. Even Aang, kiyoshi, kuruk and the rest has their weaknesses. It's just shows than aside from being the avatar, they're human first.

It's actually because Aang was ashamed of being the avatar because he left when he found out that they were going to move him to the other air temple, since he was so close with Monk Gyatso. Which was why he was in the iceberg with Appa and was missing for a century. From how the avatar cycle is, it makes sense for Korra to be more proud and vocal of her being the Avatar, and also why she looks so much like Katara. There's a belief that the person you love most will be the face you have when you're reborn, which is why Kyoshi looks like Ummi, Roku looks like Rangi, and Aang looks like Ta Min. Yangchen wasn't every spiritual which is why Karuk was spiritual and carefree, and could go into the spirit world so easily, and well enough he hunted spirits that escaped and why Koh took Ummi's face in retalliation. Kyoshi was distant with everyone, separated her nation from everyone else and was always on the front lines of the war when Karuk wasn't, he let them to their own devices sort of deal. Roku was a little better with being a diplomat and stepping in when needed. Aang hid from being the Avatar after the shame of being missing for a century caught up with him. Hence when we first see Korra she's yelling about being the avatar, water, earth, and fire bending as a toddler. Aang mastered Air bending, and was able to talk to his past self the easiest and whatnot, while korra struggled with air bending and the spirit world, since they wouldn't listen to her. When you start noticing the little details of how things fit together the avatar cycle is really cool

My favourite part about Aang and Korra is that both show the opposite gender in themselves. For instance, Aang has a feminine side and isn't afraid to show his emotions and that men's emotions are valid (which is what a lot of men irl are told not to do). On the flip side Korra is not afraid to sit you down in a chair then kick that chair outta a window, she shows that she is brash, headstrong and stubborn (typical traits of men according to society) and will put you in your place if you are in the wrong. I absolutely love this dynamic in kids shows, it lets the children know that just because you're a girl means you have to be a pretty, prissy princess. And shows boys that they don't have to be big, strong or Toph (yes I said Toph not tough, but what's the difference?).
And this is precisely why I love her so much. No dainty, fanservicey bs. She throws hands better than half of shonen anime protags. And still looks flawless doing it!
I honestly always loved korra. Her impulsive, aggressive, slightly arrogant nature was a different take from aang, but I still loved it. She's ripped as hell and more brutal. I kinda had a huge crush on her lmao But I don't think they did her show justice. The writing and pacing was sketchy as hell. Still love her so much tho haha
Sorry , i hate to break it to you, but qualitywise and charact er wise, korra sucked. Sure, i enjoyed it to some extent, but after rewatching it several times, i saw so many flaws,plotholes, and the plain out stupifity of korra as a person.😢

Ria Ali I don’t think anyone could really surpass Aang but damn Nick didn’t do Korra any favors, Korra could’ve been more passable as a successor to Aang but I find the idea of her character and her more cocky personality(if she changed to be noble and heroic) would be a great flaw for her to need to handle, maybe her cockiness gets someone she loves hurt and it sobers her up that she cannot be blindly brash, oh and they really need to cut down on the Avatar States, Legends Of Korra made it just a simple power up and nothing that it was before, and gave the series a Jesus and Satan which is the least of this series problems lore wise

AssassinAcademy that isn’t true, once korra knows your fighting style she usually doesn’t struggle or get hit alot, in her fight in the mech with Kuvira she literally faked out Kuvira 2-3 times back to back & we see Kuvira when she fights almost never makes mistakes & doesn’t get touched & it’s countless other fights she has with other highly skilled benders & they can’t even hit Korra or read her attacks, just cuz modern style bending has more kicks, flips & punches then traditional style bending would it doesn’t mean Korra’s attacks are predictable, she’s a master of all 4 elements for a reason lmao

C Mckibben in the comics aang is around 15 so he would have been practicing for 2-3 yrs with Earth, fire & Water so he’s relative to korra in age from books 1-3 but bending wise he still isn’t quite at her lvl & is better at bending with the 3 elements he still doesn’t quite have full master over them (maybe except for water at the very least) like Korra does We never see a 30+ yr old Korra like we do aang even tho his feats are really limited to yakone & if korra was around Roku’s age 28-29 she’d be much more experience, it’s really a mystery frfr💀

Korra had a very tought time as Avatar. Aang lived in era with clearly defined good and evil. Ozai was basically Hitler 2.0. Defeating him was holy duty of Avatar. While Korra lived in a time of political unrest without clear good-evil dychotomy. She had to manouver in the land of greys trying to uphold Avatar's mission. I loved it about this show, every Avatar in history was different and had a different ways of thinking while still doing their best to uphold balance.
Jakub Mike until season 2, 3, and 4 when she was against literal evil incarnate, an anarchy group whose sole goal was to kill her and plunge the world into chaos, and finally kuvira she wanted to restore the earth kingdom to its true glory and forcibly took all the land she thought she was owed. If kuvira isn’t the best representation of hitler I don’t know who is.
@Fred Duwe I totally agree I don’t think Kuvira is bad by character standards especially by LOK standards. The worst villain by far was in season 2 of korra not only did it severely hurt the lore of avatar but it was so random with the rest of the series. I liked kuvira until she began designing and driving a giant robot. Legend of korra really jumped the shark and it was bad.

I think they two are very good in different ways. But Aang give more lessons than Korra. Korra starts like a badass, Aang starts from zero, so you can learn more with him, you can related with that type of character and feel what they feel, with Korra I didn't feel fear, because she is so confident. Aang = What you are Korra = What you want to be

@Tony Stark Aang still acted like none of his past lives understood him. The whole schick got old fast. I'm not against him just taking his bending away, but the whole "nobody understands that I don't hate Ozai enough to even consider killing him" thing got old fucking quick and unlike Korra's most prevalent form of naivete, there wasn't really a good reason for it. Especially when Ozai started gearing up for global genocide.
One thing I absolutely loved about LOK was that every female character with a significant role and had many scenes or event impactful ones were equally as vicious and skilled as their male counterparts. The Beifong family carried Toph's legacy, and Kuvira was tough as hell. Asami was not only gorgeous but smart and skilled. I loved Korra's more aggressive nature and that worked well for her. But other than Kuvira, my favorite female villain for this show was from S3. I can't remember her name, but she was the armless waterbender. I saw her in action and was like 'WHY DON'T THE GOOD GUY WATERBENDERS FIGHT LIKE HER!!!?' But hands down, I freaking LOVE the Beifong family. Toph, Lin, Su, Su's sons. Yeah, I'm a little biased where the earthbenders are concerned.

Let me suggest Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The go-to combo of no-nonsense kickboxing and ground fighting/ grapples. These two should give you a comprehensive kit to deal with almost any situation. Most (the overwhelming majority) of professional fighters, and law enforcement train this. You can try Krav Maga too, but you'd have to find someone to teach you the real stuff, not the watered down, useless version 99% of schools outside Israel teach. Stay clear from tradional arts like Kung Fu, Karate and Tae Kwon Do if what you want is actual fighting. I loved to practice Kung Fu, it gave me all types of skills, but it's not always practical in a defense situation and it takes years to get to the juice of it. Most schools or dojos today have left out some of the combat aspects of these arts and focus (a bit too much in my opinion) on the personal development side of things. It's still great, but not what most people are looking for.

Why people keep on hating and degrading Korra?. I love both aang and Korra, but honestly I feel Korra showed more character than Aang. I admit korra did fucked up many times, but pls understand that the Villians in LOK are more powerful and characterised than the freaking villianeous Ozai. The only major notable villain in ATLA is Azula imao. FYI: Those who says that Aang got just less than a year to master all the elements, pls understand that Aang got less than a year to beat Ozai not mastering all elements, he didn't master those, he learned enough of those elements to use it in a combat and Korra did bend 3 elements at a age of 3 and even though she had a hard time learning airbending just like earthbending for Aang, she atleast learned in a month or two. So grow up and stop hating her. Cheer!!!

i've always wondered how they were figuring out who's the avatar next. I mean yeah Korra was signaled by her parents by obvious bending at a low age as for Roku for instance. He never displayed any avatar line ability and it's only when the fire temple guys came to him that he was aware, before their visit he didn't knew. They knew the cycle coz of thousands of years of avatar reincarnation but that's enough to point out a single individual. What am i misisng here...

The fighting scenes still give me goosebumps and so many scenes still leave a deep impression. It’s unfortunate LOK had certain narrative shortcomings bc I deeply love it still. It could’ve been better and Korra deserved better.

@Tramael I rewatched ATLA after LOK and it's honestly not comparable. ATLA was for kids and occasional watching on the TV, the episodes can function as short stories on their own. LOK is for a teenage audience, targets modern topics, the villains have depth and relatable ideas and therfore challenge critical thinking. overall it's better for binge watching. I have never seen a show adapt to the maturing of their audience so well.
There were some bad choices made in the script of this show but generally i liked korra, it was a different take on an avatar...aang being calm nd innocent korra being hard, tough always ready for a challenge Also The bending fight scenes were pretty cool

Ok, let's take some time to appreciate this masterpiece The intro of the song and the "I'm the avatar you gotta deal with it" fit perfectly, and young Korra showing off her bending fits the beats too! 0:12 that transition is amazing to present day Korra beating up the triple threat triad, then 0:18 Korra's lip sync fitting with the lyrics 0:19 "why you lookin at me" THEN LIN GIVING HER THE "I GOT MY EYE ON YOU" AND KORRA DOING IT BACK that part always made me laugh in the show and it fits with the lyrics so well 0:21 again, the lyrics match the scene, lin flinging korra up with the metal cables draws attention to how dynamic and well animated this scene is 0:28 Tahno and the wolfbats vs the fire ferrets! then 0:31 Korra doing the waterbending fakeout!!! and then she mimics his hand gesture with SUCH A SMUG EXPRESSION!!!!! ohhhhhh 0:45 again, these scenes are so well animated and Kuvira dodging is just so satisfying Then vs Kuvira, and vs Amon's chi-blockers! both very well animated scenes, and with the music it is exhilarating and satisfying to watch The kick and fade to black! 2:47 Korra cracking her knuckles, lipsyinc matching again! Then Korra casually beating triple threat triad AGAIN! 1:09 Korra's pro-bending hat trick! "b*tches on my d*ck like this" and then the splash ahhhhhhh 1:16 Korra fighting Zaheer and lifting and slamming those boulders! 1:22 Korra vs the chi-blockers in her dream, interesting choice, i wouldn't have picked it personally but 1:26 Firebending training!!! Her style of firebending is so fun to watch! 1:29 Korra fire breath roar, flying with fire, then lifting a giant boulder over her head, then hurling it 1:37 transition to firbending training again! I love this fight scene so much! Then her classic fire reflect! 1:43 Korra flying around republic city with the tornado, 1:47 her flip off the tornado, landing and earthbending, fire flying again! 1:50 the song gets more calm, and this scene also is more relaxed, but sort of anticipating, same with the platform raising 1:53 then back to the action, Korra's cartwheel! 1:57 transition to fighting the chi-blockers again! Her firebending fits with the music beats and is so great to watch 2:02 THOSE THREE FIRE BLASTS MATCH THE LYRICS, AND THE FACT THAT THE LAST ONE IS LONGER AJFBVBJHJBABJAJF 2:04 fade to black, Korra vs Zaheer, her flying again and ramming those boulders at him! and then she charges with fire flying! 2:14 vs Kuvira again! those blows are so clean and damn, Kuvira's metalbending! Then Korra knocks her back, dodges, and charges at the screen!!!!! 2:24 then Korra saving Kuvira and going into the avatar state! 2:31 "yeah" and the scene matches with the beats again! 2:35 vs Kuvira again, and then vs chi-blockers! I love this fight scene so much and her fire scissor-kick is so clean and satisfying, then her elbow smash! korra is such a beast :) 2:42 korra pulling zaheer down with the chain! and then when she lands on the ground and slams him it goes so well with the music. The "tch!" also! Such a perfect way to end this masterpiece!!!! This is all the reasons I need to finish Korra and more! (unfortunately I do not have the time) It also highlights the amazing animation quality of tlok! Thank you so much raven for this amazing tribute :)

It's called jet stepping, I think. Rangi, Kiyoshi's friend and lover invented it. Korra just made it more higher because she's more powerful than a normal fire bender. It's in the kiyoshi book. It's the same as they use dust stepping and water to ice stepping which is in that book too.

To think Nickelodeon didn't want Korra to be a girl at first because they thought boys wouldn't watch it. But the creators were persistent with there idea by introducing korra to young boys and overall received positive feedback from them. Eventually Nickelodeon told them they can pursue their idea. Best decision !

It's actually because Aang was ashamed of being the avatar because he left when he found out that they were going to move him to the other air temple, since he was so close with Monk Gyatso. Which was why he was in the iceberg with Appa and was missing for a century. From how the avatar cycle is, it makes sense for Korra to be more proud and vocal of her being the Avatar, and also why she looks so much like Katara. There's a belief that the person you love most will be the face you have when you're reborn, which is why Kyoshi looks like Ummi, Roku looks like Rangi, and Aang looks like Ta Min. Yangchen wasn't every spiritual which is why Karuk was spiritual and carefree, and could go into the spirit world so easily, and well enough he hunted spirits that escaped and why Koh took Ummi's face in retalliation. Kyoshi was distant with everyone, separated her nation from everyone else and was always on the front lines of the war when Karuk wasn't, he let them to their own devices sort of deal. Roku was a little better with being a diplomat and stepping in when needed. Aang hid from being the Avatar after the shame of being missing for a century caught up with him. Hence when we first see Korra she's yelling about being the avatar, water, earth, and fire bending as a toddler. Aang mastered Air bending, and was able to talk to his past self the easiest and whatnot, while korra struggled with air bending and the spirit world, since they wouldn't listen to her. When you start noticing the little details of how things fit together the avatar cycle is really cool

My favourite part about Aang and Korra is that both show the opposite gender in themselves. For instance, Aang has a feminine side and isn't afraid to show his emotions and that men's emotions are valid (which is what a lot of men irl are told not to do). On the flip side Korra is not afraid to sit you down in a chair then kick that chair outta a window, she shows that she is brash, headstrong and stubborn (typical traits of men according to society) and will put you in your place if you are in the wrong.
I absolutely love this dynamic in kids shows, it lets the children know that just because you're a girl means you have to be a pretty, prissy princess. And shows boys that they don't have to be big, strong or Toph (yes I said Toph not tough, but what's the difference?).

Korra had a very tought time as Avatar. Aang lived in era with clearly defined good and evil. Ozai was basically Hitler 2.0. Defeating him was holy duty of Avatar. While Korra lived in a time of political unrest without clear good-evil dychotomy. She had to manouver in the land of greys trying to uphold Avatar's mission. I loved it about this show, every Avatar in history was different and had a different ways of thinking while still doing their best to uphold balance.

@Fred Duwe I totally agree I don’t think Kuvira is bad by character standards especially by LOK standards. The worst villain by far was in season 2 of korra not only did it severely hurt the lore of avatar but it was so random with the rest of the series. I liked kuvira until she began designing and driving a giant robot. Legend of korra really jumped the shark and it was bad.

One thing I absolutely loved about LOK was that every female character with a significant role and had many scenes or event impactful ones were equally as vicious and skilled as their male counterparts. The Beifong family carried Toph's legacy, and Kuvira was tough as hell. Asami was not only gorgeous but smart and skilled. I loved Korra's more aggressive nature and that worked well for her. But other than Kuvira, my favorite female villain for this show was from S3. I can't remember her name, but she was the armless waterbender. I saw her in action and was like 'WHY DON'T THE GOOD GUY WATERBENDERS FIGHT LIKE HER!!!?'
But hands down, I freaking LOVE the Beifong family. Toph, Lin, Su, Su's sons. Yeah, I'm a little biased where the earthbenders are concerned.

Let me suggest Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The go-to combo of no-nonsense kickboxing and ground fighting/ grapples. These two should give you a comprehensive kit to deal with almost any situation. Most (the overwhelming majority) of professional fighters, and law enforcement train this.
You can try Krav Maga too, but you'd have to find someone to teach you the real stuff, not the watered down, useless version 99% of schools outside Israel teach.
Stay clear from tradional arts like Kung Fu, Karate and Tae Kwon Do if what you want is actual fighting. I loved to practice Kung Fu, it gave me all types of skills, but it's not always practical in a defense situation and it takes years to get to the juice of it.
Most schools or dojos today have left out some of the combat aspects of these arts and focus (a bit too much in my opinion) on the personal development side of things. It's still great, but not what most people are looking for.

I admit korra did fucked up many times, but pls understand that the Villians in LOK are more powerful and characterised than the freaking villianeous Ozai. The only major notable villain in ATLA is Azula imao. FYI: Those who says that Aang got just less than a year to master all the elements, pls understand that Aang got less than a year to beat Ozai not mastering all elements, he didn't master those, he learned enough of those elements to use it in a combat and Korra did bend 3 elements at a age of 3 and even though she had a hard time learning airbending just like earthbending for Aang, she atleast learned in a month or two. So grow up and stop hating her.

i've always wondered how they were figuring out who's the avatar next. I mean yeah Korra was signaled by her parents by obvious bending at a low age as for Roku for instance. He never displayed any avatar line ability and it's only when the fire temple guys came to him that he was aware, before their visit he didn't knew. They knew the cycle coz of thousands of years of avatar reincarnation but that's enough to point out a single individual. What am i misisng here...

The fighting scenes still give me goosebumps and so many scenes still leave a deep impression. It’s unfortunate LOK had certain narrative shortcomings bc I deeply love it still. It could’ve been better and Korra deserved better.

@Tramael I rewatched ATLA after LOK and it's honestly not comparable. ATLA was for kids and occasional watching on the TV, the episodes can function as short stories on their own. LOK is for a teenage audience, targets modern topics, the villains have depth and relatable ideas and therfore challenge critical thinking. overall it's better for binge watching. I have never seen a show adapt to the maturing of their audience so well.
There were some bad choices made in the script of this show but generally i liked korra, it was a different take on an avatar...aang being calm nd innocent korra being hard, tough always ready for a challenge

It's called jet stepping, I think. Rangi, Kiyoshi's friend and lover invented it. Korra just made it more higher because she's more powerful than a normal fire bender. It's in the kiyoshi book. It's the same as they use dust stepping and water to ice stepping which is in that book too.
