  • Here is a quick, easy, inexpensive craft you can make using nail polish, flat backed glass marbles and foil candy wrappers! You can also use up the bits of scrap paper you have been accumulating. The marbles and nail polish are from the dollar store and the foil is from www.papermart.c... and any scraps of pattern paper or pics from a magazine. The finished beads can be glued to ring or earing findings or soldered to jump rings or glued to bails for pendants. can be used too! more crafty goodness on my blog: thefrugalcrafte... This is so awesome....what is even more awesome is that i have been doing a version of this myself. 😄 i started playing with jewelry making about 3 years ago and thought to make my own stones, before i had actual stones with art paint, watch faces, paper, ribbon, ect. 😙🌈

    I'm going to use the marbles my daughter helped me paint for Rings first and see how those turn out. at the dollar store I could only find clear marbles that already had a sparkly sheen to them, but it still looked OK after we painted them! good idea! I'm going to by bails now also for necklaces!

    I use black or silver nail polish. There is a silver at the dollar Tree and Family Dollar (LA Colors I think) that is very opaque and durable, in face I don't wear it because it is too hard to remove LOL! Perfect for crafts!

  • @thefrugalcrafter
    @thefrugalcrafter  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have bought them cheaply at consumercrafts (they have ones you can thread beads on) and skybluepink (I used these in the video, look on the beads and findings page 6/$1) , I'd try them first but if you not see ones you like you can visit a local bead shop (if you have one) and buy them individually:) I check both websites and they are in stock! I think I will buy a gross (144) next time LOL!

    Don't waste your damaged glass, file the backs smooth, sometimes a nail file will work or a small set of craft files will do the job but if it's really hard to file smooth then you will need a diamond file to cut through the glass, but if it's a deep glass air bubble then you won't be able to fix that, so use it for a different project, or glue a diamanté/rhinestone on top of the bubble. Air bubbles often happen when the glass is hot while these bubbles of glass are in the kiln.

    high temp hot glue will work for the magnets. For the jewlery I prefer to copper foil and solder them but you can glue them. Some glues will react with the foil so test a bit first. I always like an epoxy which is great for metal to glass.

    These are so pretty. I saw another glass marble jewelry video that called for E6000 glue to be used to glue paper behind the marble. The warning on the box freaked me out so bad I was ready to forget about making these. I'm so glad I clicked your video and found out all I need is nail polish to get paper to stick.

    • @prettypaperthings
      @prettypaperthings 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      you only need nail Polish. glossy accents diamond glaze or mod podge for the paper. but she used e6000 for the metal backing to use as a pendant or on a magnet

    • @prettypaperthings
      @prettypaperthings 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sed e6000 for a few hours the first two times I used it then I read the label and got freaked out as well. I use it outside and with a mask I got at the door store. use an applicator so you don't touch it with your hands. it's a really good adhesive but I know your concern

Cheap magnets btw, i bought a magnet photo holder, that i cut up to fit the back of the bead/pendant.. much cheaper than buying the magnets :)

    Do you recommend using clear nail polish when working with paper, the reason I ask is I found some printed paper at Hobby lobby and I've used the e6000 glue and some pictures it works fine others it didn't I don't know if it was because of the grade of stainless steel bezel tray that I had
