  • DIY Cheap Faux Stained Glass Beads!
I have lots of techniques to share today:
    1. How to make acrylic skins
    2. How to make faux stained glass pendants
    3. Cool beads with acrylic skins and straws
    Supplies:
    1. Acrylic Paint
    2. Glossy Mod Podge or PVA Glue
    3. Aluminum foil Tape or regular stuff from the kitchen
    4. Cardboard
    5. Silicone mat or waxed paper
    5. Jewelry findings of your choice.
    Directions:
    1. Pour mod podge in cap, add a few drops of paint ad stir 3 times. Pour on waxed paper or silicone mat and spread it around. Let dry for 2 days. This is your faux stained glass acrylic skin.
    2. Cut cardboard to the size and shape you want your charm to be and cover in aluminum foil.
    3. Cut up the acrylic skin and glue to foil covered cardboard.
    4. Cover the edges of the charm with thin strips of foil tape if desired.
    5. For the beads cut up a drining straw and cover with scrylic skin strips. Trim the straw.
    6. Use beads and charms in jewelry projects.

Ok... I finished watching until the end and I think this is fantastic! I was recently looking into trying to make paper beads but I need fancy paper to make them with and I already have everything I need to make this. I actually even have the aluminum tape I can't wait to do this and I have some other ideas about ways to use this technique. I will be checking out your glitter video as well. Thanks so much for sharing this! I just absolutely love doing crafty diy things especially if it pertains to jewelry. Have a blessed day!😊

Hm, like the acrylic skin, but not the opaque backing. Think I'll try the skin on a CD after peeling off the label so it's translucent. Oooooh, the possibilities with the acrylic skin. TFS, Lindsay.
I've cut myself with foil too! I was just covering a broiler pan! Would not have thought it could happen with the tape. Thanks for not editing that out!

  • @irisshubert
    @irisshubert 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Great idea Lindsay ! I save clear acrylic packaging, I wonder if you put the skins on a piece of that. say in an ornament shape. Then the light could shine thru it on the Christmas tree. You might still need to glue the packaging to a piece of aluminum foil for reflection purposes.Of course there'd be no need for the packaging, just use the cardboard. I did some of that faux stained glass painting years ago, and you used acrylic or plexiglass shapes. I love your idea Lindsay. The beads are really cute. Everyone probably has all of the "ingredients" right now and could get up and start making these right away. Fun project!!!

Genius and Gorgeous idea! Definitely doing this with my Grand daughters. I've got them coming over for a Slumber/movie/craft night tonight and wish I would have seen this a couple of days ago so I would have had the plasticky material ready to just go forward with this. I'll have to have them over again real soon after I do the first step (the skin/tissue paper's a great idea but don't have any :( ) for this project. They're going to love this and I already do!
