    As always this was so informative. I could listen to you all day Susan. Your knowledge is expensive and I so appreciate how willing you are to share that knowledge. Currently taking your master class and loving it. Thank you for all that you do.

    As the owner of a brand new long arm I was very interested when you suggested using a UPS device to protect my machine. I do not see in the notes where you specify which device you recommend. Could you please pass this information along. Thanks and I really enjoy your videos. They are so informative.

    I really appreciated your advice concerning pricing of quilting services. 50% of set price for first 100 quilts. Great advice!

      And the numbers might vary - that was an idea off the top of my head, but the wisdom is in setting realistic expectations and then everybody knows where they're at👍🏻

    Regarding the question of freehand vs free motion. The terms may be used interchangeably, but to me, semantically, they are not the same. It's like the logic questions on tests. "Free motion" simply means that the machine (or the fabric) can be moved in all directions, unlike only straight stitching capability. "Free hand" to me, means the free motion is unguided by a device of some sort, like a computer, a ruler, a printed pantograph, etc. So, the logic would go like this: All free HAND quilting is free MOTION quilting, but all free MOTION is not necessarily free HAND quilting. As someone who is fascinated by language and linguistics, Ireally appreciate your references, Susan, to free hand quilting and not just lumping it all together under the larger umbrella of free motion.🙂

      @wekebu ปีที่แล้ว

      My concern is that anyone searching for videos or information about free motion won't find Susan's work because she calls it something that is not a standard. I have never heard a freehand before and I've been doing free motion for several years.

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the clarification - I follow your logic completely. I don't know that very many think it through that far, so in practice many, many people call it free motion. I don't want to be inaccurate, but also I want as many people as possible to relate to what I'm talking about so I probably err on the side of using too many terms.

    I was told by my dealer to always unplug my machine each time I was done for the day. A surge protector will not protect from a lightning strike.
    Ask my good friend- it will a least blow out a stitch regulator and possibly computer equipment

    Hey Susan I did my first edge to edge quilting on my q24.I used 6 bobbins when the bobbin indicator flashed I changed it. Now I have 6 bobbins with thread left on it. Do u change when it gets low or run the bobbin out and go to the spot it ran out at. Thank you

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  ปีที่แล้ว

      I run ‘em out for just that reason. Perfectly acceptable for E2E to have simple starts and stops within the quilt, so I just change them when needed.

    Can you use polyester batting with a longarm? I was told never to use it.

    • @StitchedBySusan
      @StitchedBySusan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my opinion, don't listen to the "nevers" 😄 i haven't used it myself, it's not one I stock regularly, but I know lots of longarm quilters who have and do.

      They’re simple shop magnets, I got mine at Harbor Freight. If you can’t find them locally there’s an Amazon link in the show description.

    If you are living in an area of lightening strikes, power down and unplug your longarm every time you finish! Lightening can fry your longarm electronics….ask me how I know! 😮
