I cannot thank you enough for the concept of this show. So very generous of you to share with honesty and humility. I will be taking classes from you soon.
Oh my goodness! I love the story you shared at the end of your live. Thanks for sharing that. I have only just found you a few months ago, but I in for awhile since I just signed up for the Masterclass! Very excited to take this step. We met at the Sewing and Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, WA in March. I was the one who talked to you about the problems with the needle plate on my longarm bumping into my rulers. So glad you are doing what you love 😍
The blue painters tape is such a good idea! I can’t tell, you how many times I’ve hit the belly bar with the ruler base on! Thank you for that tidbit!!!
I have a Gammill Vision 2 and I can also program one of my switches to be a channel lock. My mind was blown when I first figured that out! Marking tip for piano keys: I use a Crayola washable marker and put my hatch marks on the batting right at the edge of the quilt. Saves me time of needing to remove marks from the actual fabric and if my piano keys aren’t too long I just need that one mark at the edge instead of spanning all the way across. (Plus if any of it happens to get on the quilt top it will wash out)
Love this one with the border stuff, i haven't yet done allot of border work. Can you share a link for the side clamps you use? Thanks for all you share!
I enjoy your videos while I work or sew. Thank you for your dedication to your family business! Congratulations! (Just to help a bit for the next show: check the reverb on the music. There is an echo on this video.)
Question: You always start the program with your bottom leader on top of your top bar to put the red snappers on, but I can't tell whether your top bar for your magnetic bars has a leader on it or whether it is just a bare bar? Thanks.
It’s a bare bar. I have my leader loaded onto the lower rail, and just pulled up over the upper rail. And disclaimer, that is not the BERNINA recommendation, it’s my modification and it works well for me.
Because my intention is to quilt and all-over design in the entire center part, and piano keys in the border. So the ditch stitching stabilizes the whole perimeter, and then i can fill in the center without things shifting.
Honestly, the Masterclass likely has more beginner-level content. The monthly membership will give you a broad range of small independent lessons, and maybe that's helpful. Monthly can be cancelled at any time, there's no minimum, so do what feels best for you❤️
Love your lessons. If you ever have an opportunity to show us quilting on a "Dear Jane" type quilt. I am always stumped when quilts are so detailed. Thank you.

I love the split screen view. Thank you Mr. Producer! Exciting to watch a quilt being completed that I made a little piece of!!
Loving the two views at the same time.
Love this video! I am thankful I can lift my quilt top to smooth the batting and/or remove stray threads.
The blue painters tape is such a good idea! I can’t tell, you how many times I’ve hit the belly bar with the ruler base on! Thank you for that tidbit!!!
I placed some mirror tiles on the table so I can peek from sides and see if tension is good.
Just can’t seem to make the shows live but want to thank you for sharing - have learned sooooo much
Happy to help!
Beautiful quilting thank you for all you’ve taught me!!!!
I just bought a Bernina long arm. These tips have been very useful. Thank you.

Thank you Susan! Love to watch you quilt. PS... I love Allison Glass fabrics too!
Her colors!!
I would love to see how you do the piano keyboard quilting 😍
thank you for pointing out you would quilt the center first then do the border. :)
Thank you for this, I love watching you quilt and I always learn something new.
You are so welcome!
Watch you all the time on you tube from Alabama.A year and half longarmer.

Excellent tip! And good to know the Gammill Vision 2 has that feature - I'll try to remember that in future when I talk about it.
I really enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for sharing.
Enjoyed this! Congratulations on your business!!
Thank you❤️

You can actually program on the Gammel Vision 2 also. You don't have to have the Elevate
Q: Love the all over design Susan. How do you know when to stop your design at the bottom of your section?
Later in the show I talked about it and showed how you could use painters tape as an indicator.
Q..Why are you stitching in the ditch first on the border?
Because my intention is to quilt and all-over design in the entire center part, and piano keys in the border. So the ditch stitching stabilizes the whole perimeter, and then i can fill in the center without things shifting.
I’m new, would you recommend the monthly to start and then do the masters class?

@@StitchedBySusan ok I believe I’m on the list if I do t get in the masters I’ll do the monthly
Thanks

I am too, when it comes to custom, quite honestly! My go-to is definitely edge-to-edge whenever possible.

What is a ruler plate? I've never done ruler work.
A ruler plate is a support that is put on before you use rulers to give you a stable surface to hold your rulers against.
@genny7493 thanks! It makes sense, but I've never seen it done. I rent time on a long arm at a shop and just do pantos.
@@diancenar6651 if you ask at the shop I’m sure they could show you them.
About the vibration….you might try adding a small weight…1 pound…(like an ankle or wrist weight)…to minimize the vibration…
It s not the machine that’s the problem, it’s the camera and its mounts that amplify it. We keep trying things!
The quilt behind you has piano keys that can be seen very clearly if folks would like to see a “finished” border.
Good point! I never thought of that 🤣
If you enjoy what you do, you never “work” a day in your life. Good luck with moving your parents.
So true! And thank you❤️
