  • This is an update video regarding me preparing for WGU. I've been trying to earn as much collage credit as I can to transfer into WGU, and as of now I'm at about 70% finished with all the WGU classes required to get my bachelors degree.
    To be clear, the classes I finished over the past week haven't "officially" made it to WGU yet, but they are on their way (sometimes it take a couple weeks for WGU to receive the new transcripts).

    🎉 Congratulations!!! You and josh have helped me a lot on this journey. Not sure if i’ll be finished with my SDC classes and CompTIA certs to start with you in January but i’ll definitely be on board by February. Possible, can you share a link to the spreadsheet you posted? I really like the format. Mines is somewhat similar to yours but I’m not good at adding those graphs just yet.

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent. Good luck! I'm assuming you're also going for the cybersecurity and information assurance degree? I originally made the spreadsheet for myself so the formulas and references within the cells are kinda sloppy. It's not really designed in a way that's easily usable for others. I'll probably create a public version in the near future though.

    Hi Cameron. Your videos are greatly appreciated. Keep up the fantastic work. I'm currently in the planning process for the BSCSIA, just need to finish other classes. I have a few questions to ask regarding WGU. Can we connect over email or LinkedIn to discuss? Just makes the back and forth a lot easier.

    Thank you so much for sharing your journey!! Did you paid separately for the certifications? Wouldn’t it be better to wait to have those courses for free with WGU?

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but I got the CompTIA certifications in 2017 (renewed in 2020) and the CISSP in June 2022 so most of my certifications came before I decided to pursue WGU. If you don't have already the certifications, I'd recommend taking them at WGU.

  • @HBLivingg
    @HBLivingg ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Wouldn't you want to get the certification fee waived by WGU though? I thought the whole point of doing the BSCSIA at WGU was because the value is provided on the number of certificates you are able to get if you are able to accelerate. Also, WGU gives you free retries on certifications up to a certain amount. I.E 4000 in tuition gives you 14 certificates at WGU and the bachelor's if you complete it within 6 months.

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My job will pay for mu ITIL certification if I pass. I'm only out $500 if I fail. You're right though. Most of the time it's better to wait and take the exams at WGU since the cost of the exams are included in tuition.

    For business management bachelors there are 40 classes, could I technically transfer 37-38 class in and do the last few and get my degree

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can transfer in a maximum of 75% so no. Also, remember the 75% is based on credits, not the number of classes. Some classes give more credits than others so be careful not to exceed that limit.

  • @KJPadgett
    @KJPadgett ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey idk if you’re reading these comments anymore but if you are, could you elaborate on the no more than 75% that you were talking about. Is that for any degree? I’m doing the same path you are with Sophia and study first but for a business marketing degree and I don’t want to do something wrong. Thanks! 😊

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For most degrees, you must earn at least 25% of the credits at WGU, so you can transfer a maximum of 75%. If you go over 75%, they'll make you choose a different degree so be careful. That said, WGU should give you a transcript evaluation paper showing how many credits you transferred in so it won't be hard to keep up with how close you are to hitting the 75% limit. Good luck!

    Nice job Cameron. Question for you, did you transfer classes in to wgu as you took them or did you transfer them all after you took them? I’m concerned that I do a lot of work only to find out parts of it will not transfer. Any advice?

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sophia sent the transcripts automatically to WGU when I passed each class. I had to manually do it with SDC (Study). You don't have to wait and only send them 1 transcript at the end though. I had the same concern at first, but WGU will just update your information with each new transcript they receive.

    • @CameronEvolved

      I took the classes I thought were easier first, but I don't necessarily think that's the best strategy.

    I'm trying to do a simar thing would you reccoment straighterline? It's one of the higher learning coursework that councilor mentioned. Also do you qualify for the wgu 2k scholarship since you did more than 3 cources?

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never used straighterline so I don't enough to recommend it myself, but I've heard good things about them. I decided to pay for WGU out of pocket. I think I make too much to get financial aid or scholarships.

    I see several courses for WGU were credited by your CISSP certification. Was that a singular certification or a particular domain? Which specific certification(s) do you have?

    • @CameronEvolved
      @CameronEvolved  ปีที่แล้ว

      My CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, and (ISC)² CISSP (and ITIL if I pass it this weekend) are the only certifications that are being transferred in as credit. The CISSP is one certification.

      The original spreadsheet came from a TH-camr named Josh Madakor. I've updated and tweaked it a few times to include a few extra features I wanted (like the graphs). In the video I'm the showing the spreadsheet with Libre Office (I don't have Excel on my Linux PC), but I made it in Excel.
