    hey guys! Today's video is all about how to live on a budget and how to easily save money! These are 10 easy ways that you can save more money! These tips are easy + small changes you can make in your daily routine that will add up to thousands of extra dollars every year. These are the best ways to save money that I've found on a practical level + that I really use!
    These 10 tips will help you think before you spend, think about what you're spending on and in turn help you to spend less. Set a budget, set a goal and you'll be surprised at how you can actually save!
    You don't have to give up social events or shopping if you want to save money / live on a budget. These tips will help you to want to spend less, but also how to save for when you do need to make purchases!
    SIGN UP FOR E-BATES:
    -Discounted prices / save money while shopping
    Get cash back after purchases they pay you back for shopping!
    SIGN UP: www.ebates.com/...
    Right now they're holding a mother's day promotion, 8% cash back off at Sephora, Neiman Marcus etc. That means if you buy your makeup online at Sephora through Ebates you will get 8% cash back from your order! Don't buy in store!

    HOW I SAVED THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS
    10 EASY WAYS TO SAVE MONEY FAST!
    1. SET A GOAL:
    You're much more likely to save if you have a goal in mind. You'll be more excited and focused if you are saving for a particular reason vs just telling yourself that you 'should' save money.
    2. SET UP AUTOMATIC SAVINGS
    One of the best ways to save money is by setting up automatic withdrawal into your savings account. I do this monthly so I don't even see the money in my account and I only work with what I have! This way you don't go over budget and you're automatically saving thousands of dollars every year.
    3. CLEAN OUT + ORGANIZE
    clean out + organize the stuff that you do have so you don't purchase items that you already have or have something similar to.
    4. You'll also be less tempted to bring more into your home if it's organized!
    5. SELL YOUR STUFF
    Sell what you aren't using anymore! You can sell your clothes in stores like Crossroads or on your phone through Poshmark. I've also sold furniture on Craigslist.
    6. WAIT TO BUY
    I go on 'shopping sprees' online- meaning I'll add EVERYTHING I like into my cart + get the fun of 'shopping' online, but then I'll wait to decide on what I'm buying until at least one day later. By this point I've either forgotten about what I was looking at, or I eliminate 90% of what I wanted to buy!
    7. BUY ONLY WHAT YOU NEED:
    Ask yourself: Will I use this? How MUCH will I use this? Is it really worth that money?
    8. E-BATES
    Sign up for E-bates and do your regular online shopping through this site.
    -Discounted prices on the stores you already shop at
    -Cash back on your purchases
    This way you're not only saving money while shopping, but then you're getting paid money to shop!
    You can find coupons on their site for specific deals, as well as see what stores offer high cash back. For mother's day they're running a cash back sale at Sephora at 8%- so if you spent $100 on makeup, you'd get $8 of that purchase back. THAT ADDS UP!
    Mother's day promo link: www.ebates.com/...
    9. COUPONS
    Besides just online savings, you can save money shopping in stores by using app's like retailmenot to find deals
    10. SOCIAL SETTINGS
    I personally spend most of my money on social settings / going out to dinner with friends. Have dinner parties at friend's houses and have everyone bring $5-10 to cover ingredients. You're still hanging out and doing dinner but spending way less!

    When shopping for clothes I don't usually look at the price tag, but try the piece on, and if I like it, I give it a top price I'm willing to pay for it, and only then see what's the real price. It does take self control to have a piece that you like on and not buy it if it's too expensive, but actually works wonders.

      Why bother putting it on that's tempting ......if i love something i just look the price , if its expensive then it turns ugly to me 😅

    • @Msfinable
      @Msfinable 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      lols marhia you can't know if you love it before you try it on. Also, you might end up liking it just because it's cheap, which is not a good reason to get something you might not really really like. Or at least this works for me, you do you of course :)

    I also have a tip: whenever you see something online or in a store that you really want, don't but it instantly. Write a list in a notebook or somewhere of all the things you found that you want. Then wait a week or so and look if you still want it

    Another tip that pairs well with the "Do I $350 dollars love this?" tip if you know your hourly salary is to divide the price by how much you earn hourly, so I think of how many hours of work that item is worth, and the question becomes "Do I love this dress so much that I would work 3 full days to pay for it?"

    Wait..you invite people to YOUR house and then you ask the money for ingredients?? That could only work in the US. In Europe if you would do that you wouldn't have any more friends :D

    • @piarateking8094

      ask them to bring a plate of their favorite dish? to spread costs around or simply just rotate who's out you eat at instead of going out

    • @tinaugarkovic4595
      @tinaugarkovic4595 8 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      yeah, that is good alternative. but I would never ask for money, it's practically an insult. if I cannot afford to make a dinner, than I won't be inviting people over. simple as that.

    • @Meelan72
      @Meelan72 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Omg yeah!! That's weird! I live in middle east and when we have visitors we literally feed them until they leave haha we first feed them coffee or juice then if it's about to be dinner time we serve dinner, then dessert and tea at the end lots and lots of fruit!

    • @Meelan72
      @Meelan72 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @sams517
      @sams517 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Like someone else said in this thread, it's called a potluck here and it's not inviting people over to eat and asking for money. Everyone just brings in a different dish to one place so there's lots of variety for everyone. It's the best way to go about it if you're gonna host a huge party with lots of people, the work isn't all on you to make a lot of one thing or 15 different dishes

    The public library is a great resource for media, I don't buy magazines anymore. When I get the itch to redecorate, I shop in my home first. Swapping accessories from room to room, it looks and feels like I've completely redecorated for no cost at all.

    • @kit7647
      @kit7647 8 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      It's clinically correct to use months until your child is about 24 months old. Many people say 'she's 13 months' or 'he's 21 months." It's useful for the first two years especially, since there's lot of growing. A 13 month old is no where near the level of a 19 month old child. That distinction is crucial.

    Great video! I actually get a lot of happiness out of manually transferring money into my savings account each time I get paid rather than having an auto transfer. I also don't do it on auto because it varies each time but I keep a spreadsheet with what I get paid and budget everything out, I found this spreadsheet to be incredibly helpful in saving more money. I've also switched to a mainly cash diet and what I take out is all that I use, anything that's left over, I put into a jar at home for use on whatever I want without feeling guilty (typically at Sephora). Making these changes has allowed me to pay cash for a macbook air, tires for my car, etc without having to worry about how to pay for these things later.

      Are you me? I do everything you wrote. My friends make fun of me for keeping cash but it helps me SO much. Cash is for everyday stuff: groceries, eating out,shopping,gas,whatever. I use my debit for all my bills and loans. I don't have a credit card and get credit simply from paying bills/loans. And I agree I get so excited when I see a comma in my savings as opposed to three numerals!

    I am an impulsive online shopper. So I keep a list on my phone called "It would really be nice if I had this..." - a list that I complete over a long period of time when I notice that there is something that I really NEED in my wardrobe. (For example... "It would really be nice if I had a longer jacket because I don't have one that is light but still warm enough for Danish spring") So the next time I go shopping, I know that I'm buying something that I really need.

I have way too much makeup, shoes, clothing, skin care, etc, etc, etc and I am saving much less than I would actually like to. Thanks so much Carly, can't wait to see more of your videos!

    Great video Carly! Conscious shopping helps me to save money because instead of wanting to buy /every/ cute thing I see, I take a step back, find information on what materials it is made out of, where was it made from, and if I can do something else when I'm done with it instead of sending it to a landfill.
    It's a little discouraging sometimes when I find out things like bad factory environments, animal cruelty, excess waste production etc BUT it's super awesome when I find eco-friendly, ethical, sustainable things instead.
    + I definitely agree about the seeing/organizing what you already have tip because I have a lot of STUFF that I really should use up before hoarding more things.. I'm saving up for a trip and I'm so excited to get there!

I also save all the change and put it in a can and when it's full I deposit it into my account. The larger the can, the more money I get!

    Omg! I do the same exact thing when I'm shopping online! That's so funny. I put everything in my cart that I like, then come back to it the next day. I've learned to" put some time between the purchase," as I call it. Often times, I will realize I don't love it as much as I thought I did the day before. Great tips, Carly! I'm new to your channel and loving it. :)

    This year most of the clothes I bought were around 60-70% off definitely saved money there. We're I'm spending too much money is eating out. I'm thinking about meal prepping but the problem is their is nowhere to warm my food up at school so it's either eating out or eating cold food since I live to far to drive home.

    Telling people your goals is only beneficial when you can trust that those people will keep you accountable. Otherwise you get a false sense of satisfaction when they praise you for your goal even though you haven't done anything yet.
