This is probably the best non-new years eve fireworks display Sydney has ever pulled off
You’re right it was longer than the Millennium display which lasted for 20 minutes
Did you know the rings are now with an electrician who wants to display them at Sydney Olympic Park?
It's actually considered to be better than New Years Eve
Yes that’s correct
It. was the world’s biggest display at that time
This is and will always be the earliest TV broadcast i can remember in my life.
They pulled it off! 25min of pyros stretching 12km and 1.5m people watching on Sydney Harbour that night
2 million.
They had a video about how this display was made I wonder what happened to it?
If anyone finds it please post
Brilliant music by David Stanhope playing through the fireworks at the beginning!
Man, i wish that full 20 min version of Peewee Ferris - Arrivals was released, what a track.
Me too
But it was used in the opening ceremony and released on the official soundtrack to the opening ceremony but it was shorter again than what was used in the actual opening ceremony and again here
So incredible.
This was the best 😄
question is the largest ever fireworks display ever anywhere in the world? they say it at the start of the display but if it true then Sydney really did do it back then and I'm proud to be a Sydneysider and it was the greatest way to end what was the greatest time in my life :D i had the greatest experience not only that the Olympic Games were happening in my City but knowing Ian Thorpe at that time made it truly a very special period in my life
Looking forward to the 2032 Olympics that will be a great time to be Australian again
Sydney's Olympics and Millennium display 9 months apart were the biggest fireworks displays ever. The Millennium saw fireworks off the Opera House for the first time and wasn't used again until NYE2013 and has been used as a fireworks launchpad for the last 10 NYE's.
@@VictorYong36 correct I was there in NYE 2013 it was fantastic I had perfect view from Garden Island I had the bridge and Opera house straight in front of me it was magical
Last time Howard’s did fireworks off the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Luego seguían los paralímpicos Sidney 2000

Surely someone has a copy of Peewee Ferris’ trance song during Arrivals
th-cam.com/video/PUkVt3NNeQE/w-d-xo.html this was the only version released
Do you think Paris will try and outdo Sydney next year
I think every games since 2000 has tried. Beijing and Athens were extremely good. But the games are so expensive, who knows they might have a slightly watered down opening/closing ceremony?
Rio had the worst display
@@rixcampbell1713Paris too is doing the Olympic Rings on its own national icon
ラストに上がる花火は我が日本の宮城県の花火師さんの花火だそうです。
RIP Ignautius Jones
Imagine if New York City hosted the Olympics and the epic closing ceremony they would display?
They submitted a bid in 2012 but lost out to London. If NYC got 2012, a European city would've got 2016.
Angie
where's the organized chaos part
That’s included in the official video you’ll find on the Olympic Channel
They cut off this fireworks display from it though
