There is a quote I once read that goes something like this, "Alcohol is a perfect solvent. It will dissolve marriages, families, careers." I've seen it happen over and over again. It's just really sad to have this addiction. Thank you Dr. Grande.
Yet, doctors prescribe drugs that can somewhat mimic the effects of alcohol... Ever hear of Xanax blackout? Many antianxiety depression medications can create "blackouts" just as alcohol can. Think of it as being here, being present. Doing what you have to do and not remembering it at all later on. Why is this? Because they are mind altering drugs just as alcohol..
I hate alcohol. I've never seen anything positive come from its consumption. One of my favorite sayings is "If you have to drink to have a good time, you aren't having a good time"
I’m so here for this! I’m not a fan of this human and true colors always shine through. Edit - the Doc has made this human more human to me. I love a cocktail but if I showed up to work even remotely tipsy, that sh!t does not fly. I hope this human gets some clarity and moves forward to be more humane.
As someone who used to work in the entertainment industry under an executive addicted to alcohol AND cocaine, I can say your analysis about the tremendously stressful work environment created by these kind of people is right on the spot. The moment I reported the situation to Human Resources, they terminated me. I found out that the executive and the HR manager shared a bed and the same vices. I sued for wrongful termination; they offered a nice amount to settle the case. In the end, being fired from that hellhole was a blessing in disguise.

How the once mighty have fallen. Drug & insecurity issues with Hollywood or Entertainment stars is very common. It also attracts a certain style of personality styles. This case sounds scarily similar to the Ellen case and how her imploded show once the truth came out. I know from my own experience when your on a job and your told not to look, approach or speak to the talent that's a sure sign there is trouble. Makes it really awkward when you need to do something with their wardrobe or instruct them how something works.
It doesn't sound similar to Ellen at all besides the fact that both issues were happening on the set of a talk show. Ellen sounds like a total A-hole, while Fallon does not. Sounds like his sensitive crew doesn't like the work environment because they don't know what to expect due to his alleged drinking, but it doesn't sound like he knowingly or purposefully made them uncomfortable. More importantly, it seems like he genuinely feels bad now that it's been brought to his attention. Maybe a whole article & shit storm didn't need to be created after all? Maybe they could've found a different way, like normal people do?
@@_HimToo People with alcohol issues are often very moody and unpredictable, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Part of this is they often have poor nutrition, often drinking their meals, so their blood glucose level is unstable. It's daunting to have to deal with someone who alternatively snaps your head off or is receptive and rational, when it has no relationship to the task at hand, but instead on their inner demons and what substances they have on board.
Sadly drug and insecurity issues aren't common just in Hollywood. While Hollywood does seem to have a higher rate of occurrence drugs and insecurity run rampant among everyday people as well.
Drug & insecurity issues happen everywhere… corporate offices, retail stores, government agencies, hospitals, schools, and even the pulpit. There’s more attention with the entertainment industry because people ignore the homeless man or woman, family member, classmate, veteran, or high functioning friend who is hides their addiction. The “high and mighty” just have a bigger audience waiting to see them fail or fall. I am not condoning bad behavior, but this problem isn’t limited to a certain group of people.
HR is not your friend, employees. They are never your friend. They are there to ensure the interests of the corporation or business. Many management types are like this as well. Jimmy seems to be a genuinely fun loving guy struggling with some demons. I sincerely hope he can successfully wrestle them, because the "talent" being sincere in wanting a good experience for all, including staff, consumers of media, and themselves is a rare thing. Wishing the staff and Jimmy the best.
@@Tidybow wrong. Most who work in HR are terrible human beings, lacking empathy, sadistic, willing to do anything necessary to protect a corporation’s needs, ready to kick anybody when they are down…employers look to their HR employees to be vicious and without moral turpitude.
Many of us grew up with future criminals. It's understandable to give their perspective and likely the judge wasn't swayed at all. The exercise seems more like a goodbye letter to their friend who they know is gone forever.
Character letters do not effect sentencing . They allow the judge to have access to the entire person and past behaviors. The sentencing numbers are pre-set within the justice system . The judge has to work within guidelines , no matter what the character letters reveal . Most criminals are not 100% evil . We are all better than our worst acts. How does society benefit from not allowing criminals to be rehabilitated ? If we turn our backs on all criminals how will they find redemption ? Jeez... You would be the worst kind of friend , ever ! 😬

@@jackiepowell7513 I would imagine it’s any work environment, especially one where people have high power, or rise to power. I would imagine having such power can be extremely stressful and maybe this is why people start acting badly towards others 🤷🏻♀️.
I remember there was a period of time where he kept having weird little injuries and the rumors of alcohol abuse started to flow, around ten years ago. As soon as I heard these stories come out it snapped together that this is classic alcoholic behavior.
There is nothing wrong with consuming alcohol. There is a lot wrong with projecting your inability to handle alcohol onto others and labeling their consumption as "abuse"! Please consider minding your own business.
I never had any time for the man until I saw him interview someone he had upset. He genuinely humbled himself and was so open and honest with them, it was a delight. I liked him after that. If he has a problem with alcohol, he has my sympathy. It's a very bad master. It also messes with your memory!
I was raised by a bipolar parent and I can certainly attest to the emotional toll of those "up" days and "down" days. Never knowing how to react is hell.
I have a situation dealing with someone like this. I live in a rooming house with a lady with bipolar and drug and alcohol issues who is like Dr jeckle Mr hyde we just never know what day we're going to have with her. Good days she's nice but bad days she screams and slams doors at all hours and tries to kick people's doors in and assult people. It's very difficult dealing with her behaviour and we've tried to help her but she won't listen.
@@rahowherox1177did you hear the response of the other executive? Full gaslight to the experience of his employees. When things like this happen at work is usually not one person having emotional problems, is a whole toxic environment and many abuse tactics. As it happens in personal relationships, situations like this make the person question themselves, accept less than what they deserve, be afraid of retaliation because as we can see that other person completely denies their reality. A person that comes from abuse and finds abuse at work, might not be as easy as I just leave, they might start questioning if they are the problem. Seeing from the outside looks like a simple solution, but is not the same thing as living it.

Dr. Grande!!! I’m currently in grad school, working to obtain an MSW. I am learning about Narrative Therapy this week and was pleasantly shocked and surprised to see one of YOUR VIDEOS posted on my Blackboard for this week to review! Had to share
The worst part is that Fallon hurt people psychologically and then fired them when they complained to Human Resources about the abuse and bad work environment. And now the showrunner says that anyone with complaints can go to HR, knowing that others were fired for doing so.
Taxi was funny! I still like Jimmy Fallon if he has an addiction I hope he gets help.😂 Showbiz is stressful. Deadlines, trying to keep your numbers up so you don’t get cancelled.
Speaking as a non American, it's always interesting how personality driven a lot of American TV is. The stars are given a huge amount of power over the show and employees. As we've seen with the likes of Elen and Jimmy Fallon, it doesn't always work out too well.
Eh, it actually does work out well. Ellen wasn’t an issue it was the people that worked for her. Jimmy isn’t an issue ever. These people are not GODS, they provide entertainment.
I think people that get aggressive when drunk need to take a serious look at the cost of drinking and if it’s worth it. There is nothing worse than someone suddenly “flipping the switch” when you’re drinking with them. I’m interested in knowing more about the psychology behind why it happens with some and not others.
I had a tough realization recently that although I saw myself as a good person, I was also always tricking myself into seeing myself as a victim in any kind of situation, and the result was that my behavior came across as very negative and self-centered. I think that's a trap people fall into, kind of the opposite of imposter syndrome. You think you're a great person and that if anything bad happens to you it must not be your fault, and so you never think you need to improve. Edit: or on the other hand you think that there is somehow something fundamentally wrong with you, rather than with the situation you are in. I don't think anybody has anything fundamentally bad or wrong about them in terms of who they are as a person. But believing that there is some fixed unchanging bad thing about you, and resigning yourself to that supposed fact, will mean that you will never be able to potentially improve that thing consciously. You have to accept the possibility of something for you to be able to be conscious of that thing. Most people don't accept a lot of possibilities and so they remain unconscious of many things.
A lot of people naturally externalize conflict while some others naturally internalize and self blame. Don’t beat yourself up! What counts is that you’ve noticed your natural tendency and you’re growing past that, learning to look at both sides of every issue so that you can be more objective and grow as a person. Many of us didn’t have parents that knew how to help us be objective and curious and avoid the pitfalls of defensive behavior and too much externalizing or internalizing. Balance and objectivity is not natural for humans! It’s a leaned behavior and you’ll improve with practice. Good luck and God bless you on your journey in life ❤
@@lostandfound5145 thank you for much. For sure my mom externalized all conflicts and made every single negative feeling of hers our problem. If she was feeling extra sensitive that day, every little thing we did wrong we would get lectured about for an hour. But when I saw myself starting to repeat the same pattern as her I realized it was because I felt unheard. And so naturally she was doing that to me because she had felt unheard at some point and was feeling insecure about that. I know her dad was a very angry volatile person and so he probably contributed to that. But who knows, maybe he was the way he was because of how he was raised. Etc. There's a strong family history and so the only way to break the cycle is through lots of conscious effort. My mom was always super into meditation and enlightenment and all that stuff, but it was just a case of her thinking that she was great and didn't need to change anything, including how she handled conflict. She would use all of the "correct" language but it would be when she was making mountains out of molehills. But due to her undiagnosed autism and ADHD, she had really strong feelings, and due to her home environment, she had no healthy ways of dealing with them. Being diagnosed with autism and ADHD myself and learning about the genetic components, specifically the MTHFR mutations, made me realize that I had inherited it from both of my parents, and it made me scrutinize their behavior and realize that they both are on the spectrum. Which explains quite a bit about how they could have missed so many issues, especially because my mom insisted on homeschooling me and my brothers despite recently admitting that she was in over her head and that that was a mistake. So yeah I could go on and on about my life story but I figured you might find it interesting to hear about the kind of unpacking I've been doing related to this and the depth to which it can go. I could keep exploring further and further into family history and my own life history, but I think I could do that forever rather than just deal with how I am in the present moment. Because all of the aspects that make me who I am exist right now, however they came to be. So if we tie this all back to the original topic of Jimmy Fallon, he may very well honestly see himself as having done no wrong, with any negative behavior on his part being justified. But he might be like me and actually have a conscience and sense of empathy, and not be a total sociopath, And he also might be just very clueless socially. He could have autism for all we know. He might have had no idea how everything came across and how people saw him, because of the reduced social function. I certainly have had that happen before to a much lesser extent. It's very surprising and it hurts. I can empathize. If he puts his money where his mouth is and actually improves. If it's all talk, and he still is a jerk, that doesn't mean that all goes out the window, but it just means he's not ready to change yet. I've had many false starts myself. So I think he just needs encouragement more than anything.
@@WRDend thank you. Saying I want to do it is one thing and actually doing it is another, but I know that just being conscious of these things alone can be plenty beneficial. I left another comment in this thread with more information about my situation and my viewpoint on Jimmy Fallon specifically.
There is always time for rehab no matter what obstacle stands in a person's way. Abstinence takes presidency to a person who desires to have a life worth living. Alcohol and drugs is no way to live and the people who I feel sorry for the most are the one's who are innocent around the addict.
Before I graduated with my BA in psychology and now in graduate school for counseling first semester, there were times in my physical health class (physiology/psychology) where we learn about the physiological effects of alcohol use: the types of alcoholics, the brain's impact on alcohol, alcohol related disorders, and the devastating characteristics/symptoms of fetal alcohol syndrome. When we were watching some of his episodes, my mom noticed that his face was flushed and his cheeks looked bigger and sometimes you would see him slurred his words not realizing he might be suffering alcohol dependency disorder, now known as substance abuse disorder. Hope he gets the treatment he needs!
Just a suggestion from a nobody who has had mental health/addiction issues in the past (and even today): study addiction and its connection to mental health HARD. As a former pill addict, I noticed it’s difficult for a lot of my non-addict friends/family to really understand WHY people who have mental issues tend yo gravitate towards drugs/alcohol. The obvious answer is an escape from reality or a crutch… but if you really dive deep and try to put yourself in an addict’s shoes, you will be able to help SO MANY PEOPLE. Good luck with school. I hope you land your dream job one day!!
I find it interesting how Ellen’s afternoon talk show and celebrity status came to an end due to her comments about feeling like she was in prison instead of being stuck at home during the COVID pandemic. Of course, many, many people who lost their jobs during the COVID pandemic worried how they were going to pay next month’s rent or mortgage thought that she was an overprivileged out of touch person at such a serious moment in world history. Ellen desperately tried to save her image by telling people she was the “Be Kind” lady, but more and more stories emerged from employees on her show and those who were guests that she really was not a nice person at all, and that led to the demise of her show. Because of the writers’ strike, a similar thing might happen to Jimmy Fallon. When the show was running, people working for him may have had to endure his awful behavior or risk getting fired. But now that The Tonight Show hasn’t been in production for months, more and more people might start talking.
I think the beginning of the end for Ellen was her showing up to the football and being pals with GWB. It was only after that that people began being critical of her, whereas before they let her bullying and bad behaviour slide.
More likely to complain when everyone else is. More likely to exaggerate as well. Complaints whether warranted or not, spread like a virus especially when idle
@@katerinakaye2228I used to work in the entertainment industry and to perfectly honest; even I had heard the open secret that ellen was a monster from way back and I live in Australia. Over the years it was repeated enough times by credible sources that you just end up accepting as true so it never shocked me about her eventual fall from grace. Jimmy on the other hand, now that surprises me. I even have a mate who lives in NYC who was out at some dive bar at 3am playing pool and out from nowhere Jimmy fallon appears from the dark hoody he had been wearing sitting at the dimly lit bar alone and asks if him and his friend wanted to play another. He was obviously pretty drunk but so was my mate, it was 3am so I'm sure there were other things involved (wink wink) but he had nothing but good things to say about him. Johnny Carson was also a person with an alcohol problem. I have not heard things about that show, but this was way before the internet and social media.
Yes, and while he was an amazing host- he was an asshole to his wives and had virtually zero relationship with his own children. Just wasn’t too interested in them…baffling. Besides being a drunk, I’m guessing narcissistic personality disorder was also in play.
It’s not as uncommon as people might think to actually end up working with functional alcoholic. I can think of several examples where people I know or have worked with, that have been fired for drinking on the job. It’s difficult to manage a job when someone relies on alcohol to keep going. It’s hard for the sufferer and for those around them. I wish Jimmy well with his ability to recover.

The part about alcohol validates my intuition about him. I watched a lot of late night during the pandemic, rarely Fallon. But when I did put him on, my first thought was “whoa, this guy drinks… a lot.” It’s in the head. Heavy drinkers, especially men as they age, literally get a big head- it bloats, and you can see it. He seems like a genuinely nice guy, I hope he gets help. Stepping off the merry go round of constantly drinking to excess will level out your emotions and make you happier. I hope he finds that for himself.

Most workplaces are toxic, incompetent or nasty managers on ego trips, companies trying to get the most work out of staff for the least amount of money and respect. I’ve been in a few GOOD workplaces where the employees were treated fairly by skilled and considerate managers. I’ve also been in some bad ones with lousy managers.
@@derekbrunette222 in a way every workplace is a mirror of the most powerful person in it. Most times it’s the manager but I’ve worked places where it was a noxious coworker. One reason so many people like your show is because you seem very kind. You don’t always say what I want to hear but that’s not what kindness is. Please, always be kind to your staff. The problem is most of this information comes from a Rolling Stone article. Rolling Stone has, at least in recent years, been very inconsistent concerning bias and accuracy. I am not particularly enamored of Fallon, but I take a lot of what was said with a grain of salt. The incident with Seinfeld is a good example of things not being reported accurately.
Hopefully Jimmy can go to rehab now that the story is out. Getting and staying sober will help him to be able to apologize to his family, friends and coworkers. Personally I would not work with an addict or anyone rude ,life is too short to cry at work .
Not in defense of Jimmy; there’s a lot of people that I’ve seen reach a breaking point because of the workplace. The benefit the tonight show employees have is their boss is famous so he can be shamed into (possibly) changing where most in poor work environments quit or deal with it.
I work at a hospital. The staff makes jokes about suicide because we all low key kind of actually fantasize about it. No one cares that our boss makes an environment that causes us to feel that way.they’re lucky they can publicly shame his ass.

I wish my siblings comprehended this. Sadly, there are usually plenty people around the person lashing out that reinforce and try to justify that unacceptable behavior. The person with the courage and self-respect to say this is NOT OKAY is the one regarded as the bad guy.
The help he needs, how about his victims. I hope they get the help they need. I don't feel sorry for people who are blessed with talent and an enormous amount of wealth. It was nice of Jerry Seinfeld to be tactful, and it was also a good move strategically, since he doesn't want to get on Jimmy's bad side. But I think we can assume that he was downplaying the incident.
Good morning Dr Grande, excellent analysis. As always I learn something new from your videos. I have not watched the Tonight show since the show moved to NYC.
Dr Grande is right, it's a sad sight to see the tonight show in it's twilight. It might, with foresight, be alright. Jimmy needs to right his alcoholic plight... Seems to be his kryptonite.
Admittedly I used to drink and make videos bc the funny rolled out more easily , felt loosened up. Can get addicting REAL quick- luckily nobody was relying on me, I didn't have a tv show to uphold. Totally feel for Jimmy as he seems genuinely concerned about his affects on others.
Jerry Seinfeld has an unbelievable god complex and preyed on his wife who was underage when they got together Belligerent is one of the gentler things you could call him
Many performers have issues... I would never wish "fame" on anyone... in this current volatile social environment, one wrong word or joke and your career is over... your life is not your own... hundreds of people depend on you to show up for work and "perform" whether you're happy, sad, have personal issues in your life, or are sick...

There is a ripple effect and it is very hard, if not impossible, for things to go back to the once happier days everyone clings to and remembers. Try to remember a past event from Rolling Stone. Frat house, girl at UVA falsely accused frat boys of gang rape. Rolling Stone used it as a hit piece against men, frat culture, and ruined the lives of quite a few students at UVA. I can’t remember if the publication was sued. I believe part of this as the grueling and unforgiving atmosphere of show business. Many people are judgmental of others that it's not an environment of compassion at all. Okay, Jimmy needs more support. Good. It can turn out great for him and I know because I got support and have been sober for 5 years. Jimmy might not need the extreme life change that I needed. But dang, show business politics is nobodies friend. Perhaps that's the problem.
I bet he can retired already. But he won’t, because of the almighty dollar and fame. People will die for nothing. That is the reason that heroes for me are the ones in Afghanistan, Iraq or any other frontline fighting and coming back damage. Thanks again, Dr. Grande, for the therapy!
He should quit alcohol and drugs, period! That’s no way to run a show. Or he should leave and find a job where that behavior is condoned…. And, if he isn’t happy with an employee, he needs to be honest with them so they can try to improve, and if they don’t improve, we’ll….. anyway, I hope it all works out well for everyone. Another great video essay, Dr. Grande! But really no surprises here; his boozing has been well-known for more than twenty years. Jimmy Fallon is a talented performer with a drinking problem, again not exactly unheard of. Just add him to the long list.
In the last few years especially, we've been shown that this seems to be the rule rather than the exception. It's all smiles for the camera and public, but horrible to their staff behind the scenes. It's happened with James Cirden, Ellen Degeneres and Lizzo, just to name a few... My (non-professional) opinion after seeing so many entertainment personalities doing this is that, 1. They're narcissists prior to their fame and the spotlight. This could also be a driver to them being drawn to a career in the public eye, with fans fawning over them, or 2. They're perfectly regular, run of the mill folks prior to the fame and once that happens, it creates a narcissistic dimension to their personalities. This superiority complex is further fuelled by their successes and fans.
It's definitely point 1. Fame might be an external stressor that reduces emotional empathy of a normal person, but a normal person will feel guilt and contrition and redeem themselves. People like Ellen show a long term pattern of the same behaviour despite negative feedback and collateral consequences. Fame can bring out anyone's own narcissistic tendencies, but they show themselves as genuine narcs when those tendencies repeatedly mistreat other people without remorse and guilt. They'll give a fake apology and show contrition, and then a short while later they're back to their same old nonsense. Most people have no idea what narcissism really is and the many various ways in which it manifests. People live with the illusion that bad or toxic people immediately announce themselves as bad, so then when someone appears 'nice' and 'polite' from the first encounter, they're already assured that they're good eggs. But most people don't work like that. Fame attracts a lot of narcissists because it's an endless supply of fuel and validation. Non narcissistic celebrities tend to moderate their spotlight and attention, and they don't let their status be an excuse to mistreat other people. If you want to test someone's character then make them famous and see how they end up.
I actually think it’s number 2 because I’ve always heard that fame changes people. I think they were normal, but then once they had all these fans and money and people basically kissing their behinds, it changed them. I’ve also heard or read that narcissists are created. I think Britney Spears is another one who was average, then all the fame and adoration went to her head. People have said many of the same things about her that they said about Ellen and Oprah. I find it very sad because they’re all people that I myself once admired. 😢
We also expect much more perfection from celebrities and, in particular, talk show hosts. We also live in an age of cancel culture. The public come to know talk show hosts as their "friends" who have a conversation with them once a week. Much more that a singing or an actor. So, when we or their employees find out they are human just like us people feel betrayed and cancel culture takes control. I mean these allegations are concerning, as are some against the other hosts, but some of them are just people (including workers) being disillusioned and finding out that it was just an act for the camera- realistically no one can possibly be that nice and charismatic all the time.
Having worked in broadcasting all the successful ones are ego maniacs who are desperate for approval, they want to be loved, its what drives them. They have to be famous or die

Can confirm. Kinda sucks.
I hate alcohol. I've never seen anything positive come from its consumption. One of my favorite sayings is "If you have to drink to have a good time, you aren't having a good time"

As someone who used to work in the entertainment industry under an executive addicted to alcohol AND cocaine, I can say your analysis about the tremendously stressful work environment created by these kind of people is right on the spot.
The entertainment business is full of narcissists throwing tantrums and fits when they aren’t pampered and fawned over. Fallon is no different.
Jimmy Fallon has always drove me crazy. I heard some similar stories years ago about him doing some bad stuff on alcohol
The worst part is that Fallon hurt people psychologically and then fired them when they complained to Human Resources about the abuse and bad work environment. And now the showrunner says that anyone with complaints can go to HR, knowing that others were fired for doing so.

Speaking as a non American, it's always interesting how personality driven a lot of American TV is. The stars are given a huge amount of power over the show and employees. As we've seen with the likes of Elen and Jimmy Fallon, it doesn't always work out too well.
That's because most of them produce their own shows which makes them the boss.
Eh, it actually does work out well. Ellen wasn’t an issue it was the people that worked for her. Jimmy isn’t an issue ever. These people are not GODS, they provide entertainment.
It’s not unique to the US. UK tv is like that too
I know, right ? Just look at the “ Apprentice”. LMAO !
You think this is unique to only the US? Lol
Good luck and God bless you on your journey in life ❤
Wow.
Kudos for recognizing that within yourself and changing, accountability leads to maturity.

Good on Jimmy, he knows he can do better, and he will. It sometimes takes a person who becomes a clelebrity some time to get back to earth, sometimes they never do, and suffer.

I Don't have a drinking problem. I drink , I get drunk, I fall down No problem
There’s a difference between choosing your teens to get your issues resolved and not doing a goddamn thing about them. It’s so aggravating and destructive when someone lashes out instead of managing their own emotions. People may have trauma but that isn’t license to traumatize others. Hope he genuinely gets his shit together.
I wish my siblings comprehended this. Sadly, there are usually plenty people around the person lashing out that reinforce and try to justify that unacceptable behavior. The person with the courage and self-respect to say this is NOT OKAY is the one regarded as the bad guy.
I agree with everything you said except him getting his shot together. I hope he gets his ass fired!
Hey Doc… you are … too cool for school… LOVE your humor, even more, you help me develop some insight. Thank you!
I’ve always felt something was wrong with Jimmy. Sadly this confirmed most of them. I hope he gets the help he needs.
Right - same . There is something about him
The help he needs, how about his victims. I hope they get the help they need. I don't feel sorry for people who are blessed with talent and an enormous amount of wealth. He caused people to want to kill themselves. I wonder how many children and spouses suffered because of the stress this ahole put on the poor people who had to work around them! He needs to go!
He just seems lost
Currently there is no known cure for TDS. Not good news for poor Jimmy..
I really like Jimmy. I hope he gets help.
I like how you covered this material. You are well spoken and fair.
It was nice of Jerry Seinfeld to be tactful, and it was also a good move strategically, since he doesn't want to get on Jimmy's bad side. But I think we can assume that he was downplaying the incident.
He can’t fix this without getting ( and wanting to get) help for his addiction.
So sad…
Best wishes to Jimmy. May he get the help he needs and bring peace to his life ❤
Good morning Dr Grande, excellent analysis. As always I learn something new from your videos. I have not watched the Tonight show since the show moved to NYC.
Thank you for covering the J.F story doc! I especially enjoyed your poetic talent at the end😂 Love ya Dr.G❤
Dr Grande, once again or should I say as usual, what an excellent video and analysis... thank you so much
Dr Grande is right, it's a sad sight to see the tonight show in it's twilight. It might, with foresight, be alright. Jimmy needs to right his alcoholic plight... Seems to be his kryptonite.
lol I see what you did here. Nice
if I go crazy then will you still call me Superman?@@adatewithkate lol
A comedian that drinks alcohol! Say it isn’t so.
No one cares if someone drinks but if the drinking is causing a toxic working environment then that's the crux of the issue.
There is NO hope for any changes as long as Jimmy Fallon continues on as the Boss.
Dr. Grande, I just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing content !!! 👍👍
Imagine being called out for being a belligerent comedian by another belligerent comedian.
Are you calling Jerry Seinfeld Belligerent? You must be a comedian

Many performers have issues... I would never wish "fame" on anyone... in this current volatile social environment, one wrong word or joke and your career is over... your life is not your own... hundreds of people depend on you to show up for work and "perform" whether you're happy, sad, have personal issues in your life, or are sick...
@@t.c.2776it sounds pretty unpleasant put that way. If it caused me to be belligerent to people, I'd feel like I needed to re-evaluate myself and my career.
All that calm analysis and you're a poet, too?! Well done and witty. Nice surprise ending so you definitely earned my sub.
I've been there where I'm the one abusing alcohol all the while abusing those of whom I love. I ended a relationship because drinking was a priority and honestly I haven't looked back. If these people were so great why was I abusing them? Alcohol has been there for me when they haven't and alcohol is a LOT more fun. Alcohol can diminish depression, cure illnesses and just be refreshing when you're parched. End all things that don't make you happy.
I am not a fan of JF, but was always curious to know your thoughts on him.
Thank you for this review, Dr. Grande.❤
I'm digging your closing rhyming session. It gave me a chuckle and an unsolicited chuckle in my house right now is like being at my first rock concert. I'm a Jimmy fan, I'm saddened to hear about this, for everyone. There is a ripple effect and it is very hard, if not impossible, for things to go back to the once happier days everyone clings to and remembers. I do have hope that Jimmy can connect with his team and heal the hurt he has caused. I truly hope those negatively affected by their experience are able to heal and learn to cope with all of the new and more serious bouts and frequency of PTSD, trauma response, anxiety, hostility, being humiliated in front of others, constant fear of retaliation and more, and the most painful of all- the slow erosion of these human beings' self worth, their value, their confidence, and the trust they once had in themselves to make confident, sound, and just decisions. Hoping for the best, for all. Thank you for your time and effort in creating this upload, Dr. Grande. 😊
I love how respectful you are when talking about Jimmy.
I've sensed his genuineness & as much as I have tried to dislike him (personal reasons), I couldn't!
I don't know anything about his marriage. I am curious to know if he's at least treating his wife well.
I wish I could be constantly drunk at work as a truck driver... but my employer, law enforcement, kidneys and liver all say no.

Try to remember a past event from Rolling Stone. Frat house, girl at UVA falsely accused frat boys of gang rape. Rolling Stone used it as a hit piece against men, frat culture, and ruined the lives of quite a few students at UVA. I can’t remember if the publication was sued. Might be a good idea to keep this in mind when said publication is once again going after someone.
His alcoholism has been an open secret for 10+ years.
I unexpectedly gained some empathy for Jimmy watching this. Good stuff, Dr Grande 😊
I loved you rhyming off at the end! You have a great sense of humour! I do like Jimmy Fallon and I like your videos, So thorough and educational!
Is there a celebrity that ISNT abusing drugs or alcohol in some form?
Toxic unhealthy culture and wozzled working environement. Hat to Topher Grace who isolated himself from his compadres in acting during the 70's because of it all.

The Best Psychologist Person & Poet Dr. Grande❤️
I wish Fallon well, but there is no mystery here, he chose show business, to bad, go to a rehab and take care of yourself, period.

Gee I think they were free to find other employers. Rolling Stone has lost their credibility when they criticized Sound of Freedom

Thanks so much, I was saddened to hear this story in the news. I really couldn’t listen to it. When I saw that you had uploaded your own analysis, it was a relief. I knew you would handle it in a professional and fair manner. Well done! Now I know the story and wish Jimmy the best in balancing his problems. I think it’s time for him to give up the booze, even if it means a break with some rehab and therapy. Sometimes people can get by with these problems when they are young but it becomes a real threat to their life in middle age. I hope he chooses the the path of resolution and self healing!
I really enjoy their show. From my tv viewpoint, they all are doing a good job. ❤
Thank you again Dr. Grande 👍

I'd heard about Fallon's drinking for years. It's time for him to join other names in recovery.

Dr. Grande, you’re a great presenter. I’ve recently started watching you and you’re good! Just wanted to say that, hopefully my encouragement will get to you 😊
I had no idea. I sincerely hope he can sort things out. I grew up in a household like that - the walking on eggshells. I hope the people affected can also find healing and peace. Concerned that he used the word "if" rather than "sorry, that" ... but he seems a sweet man. Hoping he can sort it. Best wishes to him, his family, and the team he works with.

I watched my own brother take my mother to beautiful dinner and then seduce and sleep with because he was confused on alcohol. She could have said no, but alcohol makes you so charming. Alcohol, while it's not a drug, it's still pretty dangerous if not consumed correctly.

My (non-professional) opinion after seeing so many entertainment personalities doing this is that,
1. They're narcissists prior to their fame and the spotlight. This could also be a driver to them being drawn to a career in the public eye, with fans fawning over them, or
Fame is a drug and be careful what you wish for
I actually think it’s number 2 because I’ve always heard that fame changes people.
Can you please do an analysis of Dr. Grande. Would love to know your thoughts.
