She’s doing really well. She follows instructions and I saw a little verbalization there. You are doing a great job-early intervention makes a huge difference.

My son does pouring water as well. He calls it "dip dip" he also gets his texters and dips them into the empty cups and mixes them together.
I set up a paddle pool in view outside which every morning i clean and fill up slowly with the watering can out back. I live in Australia somits always hot here thus i can leave the slide exit open and watch him collect water himself, from the pool, and use it to play dip dip instead of keeping the tap running. I put a non slip rubber mat in the kitchen to catch spills, it gets slippery. And i also get frustrated because the kitchen area has to remain sharps free and safe, so thats a constant. He also does spray bottle on the windows and bubble gun.
He will do this all day, he is 3.

You are doing so well mama! My son was diagnosed with levels 2 & 3 (3 is the most severe) autism, and he was also non verbal until he was 3 years old. Despite reading to him many times each day, singing to him, taking him to speech therapy ect he made no progress with his speech, in fact he would get so frustrated when he knew I was trying to encourage him to speak! Everything changed when I started letting him watch nursery rhymes and phonics on TH-cam. His ability to choose which songs or words he would hear and hearing the same words spoken exactly the same way, no change in tone ect is what gave him the confidence to start talking :) your daughter is starting to repeat words, and she clearly comprehends what you are saying and is able to follow instructions, she will be talking before you know it :)

I wish you and Lucy the best.

Your daughter is beautiful and a delight to watch! She's doing awesome and you're doing awesome ❤
She's definitely a sensory seeker and finding ways for her to do that which both give her joy and help teach are so perfect. Structure is so important and you're working so hard on that... There is no blue print for each autistic individual, not to mention each child! But she is communicating with you even though she doesn't use words. You're a phenomenal mom.
As an autistic adult it gives me joy to see you invested in who your child is and in wanting to help her with who who she is. Not in wanting to fix her. Thank you!
    P.S. I love to swing too 🙂

This was my son. Diet also plays a HUGE roll in behavior and speech delay. Cereal isn't good for them. Many bad ingredients. Whole foods, organic. I even stopped feeding him store bought bread and mastered sourdough. Their whining is frustration because they have so much to say and just can't get it out. By the time he was 4, the words started coming. He's 5 now and talks all the time, sometimes needs help pronouncing words correctly. Screen time is actually slowing down their progress. They need to watch us talk, parents are actually the best speech therapist. The mess and clutter makes them happier. This is what they call Einstein syndrome. You'll discover that your daughter will be the smartest child you know.. I was just amazed at how much my boy was learning. When he started talking, he was rattling off numbers, colors ,shapes and so much more.

I had the privilege of teaching children and teenagers with autism. I am so happy you have had good advice about nutrition, screen time, language development and your child is developing in way that is putting him more on par with his peers. But, that being said, I have witnessed students on gluten/casein free diets not see changes in behavior. I have witnessed child who are allowed screen time learn to echo words and phrases they have picked up and use them to appropriately express themselves. And more often than not, organizing their environment reduces anxiety. Autism is not a one size fits all “disorder”. It is definitely a spectrum.

My granddaughter is 5 and she was diagnosed at 18 months she was nonverbal until 3 and 1/2 . Her mother bought lots of programs online and my granddaughter sits at her table and watches videos on Noggin. She has learn to speak and say sentences. At 3 she started naming all the planets and she knows how to spell some things and right words. At the end of the day she will rattle off the names of all the characters on the shows she watches. The more you work with her the more she will learn and hopefully she will speak soon also. We wasn’t sure my granddaughter would speak and now she says a lot and acts out scenes from cartoons. She even said trick or treat for first time this year . She is the youngest of 5.

Let me say Lucy is gorgeous!!! I had to stop right in the begining. My granddaughter turned 3 in July and was dx. with Autism when she was 30 months old. She too is a beauty (Caroline) is her name. I had to stop because Caroline's room contains a bed, A locked dresser, and clothes on hangers in the closet! Her speech therapist call it her "prison room"! Can't wait to watch this. Today is Thanksgiving 2023 and she is making progress. So in case I'm too tired to leave another comment.... Know that ur not alone! 😊

Ummm as a parent of a 34 year old autistic male. It requires so much consistency and structure. Mom looks so tired and the differences in the children’s behavior are so obviously different. Medication at some point will be needed to treat self injurious behaviors and sometimes aggression towards others. I had another child before my sons diagnosis. Be careful and make sure she gets some special time as well. The child with the needs gets the most attention and drains you. Hang in there mom. You don’t know your own strength yet…

I have 2 boys who just turned ages 3 and 4. They both have autism. While both are considered nonverbal, I believe the oldest will be talking before we know it. The youngest will probably have to use different means of communication for quite awhile (he only baby babbles and says 2 words with a lot of prompting. For now he communicates by pulling on us towards the object he wants and sometimes guesswork is needed. He stims a lot and is sensitive to a lot of things. He is also very oral seeking but will not eat most foods)

Sorry, I must have misread. I've watched so many videos. We don't do levels in the UK with autism but I find it classifies it easier as it's such a broad spectrum! I need to give my son more instructions. Hope her speech has come along. My son was non verbal till 2 and a half, he can put 2 words together now at almost 3 but no sentences or conversation.

You are doing a great job raising your daughter! But please get rid of those blinds by the windows, get her a big girl bed or a montisori bed and don't have electricity pluged in next to your water foset in the bathroom. Believe me i know what it is to have a adventures little girl on the spectrum. And when they get bored in their bedroom when everybody is a sleep those blinds and her crip can get her in dangerous situations. My child climbed out of her crib at 1,5 years old fel on the ground more than once. She was a danger to her self, she also ribbed the curtons of the wall. I am scared that your daughter get her head stuck in the blinds. Please don't take my advice as criticism, i just want to warn you for possible dangerous situations.

Yes. Give her a queen bed. I have Autism and my folks gave me a queen bed as a little girl. I'm grateful they did, especially because I roll around in my sleep. I laid on my cousin's uncomfortable toddler bed, (recently as a grown girl) and I was like how on earth do little babies sleep on this small, hard thing. Lucy's small so maybe get her a twin or a full bed. Those toddler beds are so uncomfortable.
