I wanted to personally thank you for this. The exercise you demonstrated,, has significantly reduced my knee pain by about 70%. Your clear explanation was very enlightening and helpful. I'm grateful for your expertise and the relief it has brought me. Thank you! Best regards 🎑
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm so pleased to hear what a drastic improvement you've experienced from practicing this exercise! I hope it continues to bring you relief ☺️
Makes sense because I feel a weakness and pain in my hips and am also finding it difficult to climb down the stairs so much so that I have started avoiding stairs altogether. Will follow your advice and see how I fare.
1. I have bi-lateral meniscus knee injuries, osteopenia, recovering from 6 month old bi-lateral ankle fractures + peroneal tendonosis, so this exercise will require an interesting dance before every stair journey... but I'll give it a go. 2. I've tried landing my foot with toes and foot ball first (don't know how safe that is) instead of the flat or heel (which is more instinctive), and knee pain has been greatly reduced, don't know why. Maybe you do?
I forget what video you talked about the couple that moved from their home where they had stairs - and subsequently went backward in leg strength. I had the same thing happen to me. So.....what I decided to do.....is use a step bench: comes in 4 inch height with four 2 inch risers - so you go from 4 inch height to 8 inches. Start with 1 or 2 minutes 3 days a week - like MWF - and simply build up time and/or step height. You can do while you watch TV. I'm just starting this - so maybe in several months I'll be back to where I was. THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS!
Thank you for the tip. I have a bad knee and am working on it now with some acupressure techniques i just learned. Typically in the mornings I walk down my stairs from my bedroom to the kitchen and the knee starts out stiff and gets painful if I walk normally. Usually I walk down stairs back wards and this saves the strain on my knee, until later in the day when the old muscles are warmed up. Will do this exercise tomorrow morning and let you know how if affects me.
Very very interesting, everyday I watch your videos & also do the exercises. I would also like to have a copy of your book, please. Thank you very much
Hello Will, great videos, really helpful to me. I'm 73 and have arthritis in my back. I'm trying out the back exercises at the moment. Have you any tips for painful knees when driving? I have a manual clutch pedal in my car, and sometimes i get real bad pain when I'm driving, any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you. 🙂
Just found your channel, currently waiting to see Doctors for my knee problem, also waiting for xray, so I'm grateful for any help. I'll definitely try this as walking down stairs and down a hill is painful-left knee is the main issue. Thank you.
Many thanks for another great video Will. I’ve had the problem for many years, just recently though it seems to be more painful when I almost reach the top! I’m going to go ahead with the exercise you’ve just shown and perhaps you’d be kind enough to get back to me about the pain going up stairs. Thanks so very much
Hi. Initially I had problem going for down but could walk for an hour in evening n even abt half an hr in morning but since almost 3 years I m completely in hse n down go out except for doctors visit etc.doctors feel j need knee replacement but I m not going to go for surgery. I m 73 years old n like to do all household work slowly by myself . I can do all exercises n do a bit of yoga when in too much pain. Pain is there during night too n can't sleep well most of the days. Do h still suggest same exercise ? I mostly do exercise for seniors from TH-cam
Sorry to hear about the problems you've been having. I'm afraid I cannot give individual advice so you are better off asking your own doctor or local physio about your best next steps. Hope you start to feel better soon!

Weakness in the hips is a very common and overlooked contributor to lots of different knee problems!

Curious which football team you worked with Will, be fascinating to hear some more stories from your time doing this if allowed!
