The greatest thing about Sam is that he can take any old bike and perform stunts and tricks as if he was riding a high end bike. Proves that the bikes not the limit, its the rider.
Well, sure until the bike actually does become the limit. I have this "MTB" that comes with an 8 speed freewheel, 32T. I shit you not, I have to watch how much force I put into pedal when climbing uphill. I practically exploded the drivetrain a few times by putting more force than the bike can handle to climb a steep one. I borrowed my friend's 50T during the holidays and I was able to fly up those climbs. Oh and I broke the 80mm fork too when I finally learned to jump the bike a bit. So yeah at some point the bike DOES become the limit.
I love the cheap bike and free bike challenges! Growing up as a kid, every day was the cheap bike challenge. We never had bikes over $200. You should throw some Halo Chaos wheels on that frame and a nice fork. Then we can see how long the frame will last.
Growing up as a kid, we would find free bikes at the side of the road, all of which are clapped out, damaged, and unsafe to ride, and we would pick up other free bikes that had working parts that the other one didn’t, and we kinda fuse all the working parts into one bike, and call it a day.
Truly Epic Sam. I was going to say that the reason that the cheap bikes last so long with you riding them, is that you land your tricks properly. But, this just highlights the reason why you use Halo wheels - coz when the going gets tough, the cheap components don't stand a chance! Good on you for fixing it and giving it away - nice one Sam.
