This is what I love about buying your stuff secondhand. Everything has its own story and it's like a treasure collection. You talk about your flat with so much love, you could never do that by saying "oh yeah I just got everything from Ikea" ...
@karasmaticTV do you know about the channel Homeworthy? It's people giving home tours just like this, talking about their design inspo, favorite pieces, etc.
Tip for the out-of-control tote bag collection: thrift shops want to give their customers a good experience as much as any other store, so I once walked down with that big collection of plastic bags most people have and they were very appreciative. The same probably goes for tote bags, if it’s gotten to be way too many for you 😊
Definitely dont apologise for having your news articles, book on display. Theyre wonderful achievements that should be recongised, celebrated and cherished. I have a huge frame of the proofs of my cook book on the wall at home where I do my corporate job... it helps to remind me that Im more than just a monthly wage 😂
i just moved to a new apartment in Odense, and the bathroom didnt come with storage under the sink. I found the must beautiful dresser, she was white, but i striped her down and covered her with gold the placed she was damaged. She fits the bathroom under the sink as if that's where she was meant to be with her natural wood and im i love with that dresser. It brings so much class and soul to a new apartment building. :)
I really loved how REAL your space is. You have THINGS. Like, honestly, most of us do. The fact that you care about thrifting them, getting them secondhand, etc. makes the whole zero waste thing so achievable. We also go to charity shops, both for giving away what we don't need any more and for finding the items that could serve us, I thrift my clothes (or clothes swap with friends), but especially with kids: a minimalistic zero waste lifestyle feels impossible. And I would love to make our home into an apartment that has at least as much personality as yours :) You are a true inspiration!
as someone who, likes interesting objects, but is a bit afraid of clutter, I really appreciate how the overall look of your room is not that overwhelming. ps: congrats on your BF's PhD! I know from experience how arduous those final steps of completing your thesis can be, so good on him. And the best compliment as a partner is to show interest in their work. Just start with all the "discussion" chapters if the method-sections are too dry. The discussion is where it gets interesting usually ;)
Love you and your beautiful Home!! I have 99% Thrifted and handmade everything, including rugs, pillows, paintings (mostly mine) dishes, and gobs and gobs of jars with food and spices! You are simply an amazing version of my younger self! I am 72 now and I still love thrift shops and finding treasures to grace my walls and life. I also feel that preowned things have the energy of the previous owners and giving them a place in my home gives them a little honour after someone else has tossed them aside. I do hope that someday some of my treasures continued to be handed down to someone else to appreciate. For all the reasons we feather our nests with these beloved items, helping by recycling is one of the best!
I needed this video as a sign to make my display my cheeky items that I have collected over the years. No longer do I need to worry about the sensitive eyes of babes. I love your collections.
one of my favorite jar storage hacks is to save all of the gel silica and other desiccants that i get in packages and then i throw a packet into a jar or other dry storage and it helps prevent clumping
Thrifting is my favorite pastime- it feels like treasure hunting and you’ll have something in your home that no one else has - especially with influencing everyone’s homes seem to look the same…it’s so refreshing to have a collection of different time periods and cultures, even if it’s just a tchotchke or a kitchen tool ❤
One of the things I love about my kiddos being older now, is not needing to put everything up high! They understand some things are breakable and are not little tornadoes anymore. I recently thrifted two really neat candle holders; they are made to hold tapers, but the space is big enough to hold bigger ones, they're so neat and pretty and I'm so glad to finally really decorate. Love the bathroom. Cheeky and wonderful.
I love your vibes ❤❤ We are completely the opposite and I love that. I am hyper energetic because of my ADHD so I need the min not to overstimulate my brain. If I spend a couple of hours in your house, I will stick to the roof and penetrate the building roof and hang up to the moon while singing la vida loca to all denmark 😂😂😂😂😂
I had this video safed in my watch later playlist for the last 5 months and am glad you posted about it today so that I could finally watch it. :) I love how much character your home has and even if I'm not a maximalist myself I would definetly enjoy staying there for a visit, because it looks like a lived in curated and cozy home ❤ Thanks for sharing your personal space with us :)
I am obsessed with your home!! I loooove the green vibes and the bathroom. A lot of my art and decor was from my grandparents and I love how mismatched it feels with my style. I've only just started to get into antique shopping and buying second hand stuff for homes. Can't wait to make it more homely without buying new.
Such a cosy vibe. It feels like a true home. Not like some peoples houses that look like a set. I'd love to sent you one of my paitings- I had an era where I only painted carrots and I feel like that would fit in well. (I am not an artist, just a hobby). Thank you for this video. Such good vibes.
Haaa, just finished this video with a tea, I saved the tea for now because I knew you uploaded :) I really love the liveliness of your home, because with a lot of tours of living spaces I usually think 'where are all your trinkets and STUFF?!" It's really fun to see your bathroom, because of the huge candle holder.
I love seeing other people who collect animal skulls and specimens but also advocate for living animals! I’ve been told it is very hypocritical of me, but the majority of the specimens I have were found in nature after death or were thrifted long after they were originally obtained
It’s always fascinated me, I absolutely think that you can advocate for animal welfare and rights while also owning something like this that’s +40 years old ☺️
Hi wish you lived in US! I’d have you over and have you take some goodies! Its soooo nice to see a young person appreciate the thrift goodies👍❤️ you’ve done a wonderful job making it warm and represent you ! Thanks for sharing 🤗🌹
I like your choice of style, because sustainability can be combined with anything, not just minimalism. Although I consider myself one of them. I also appreciate your love of family heirlooms or heritage with its own history. It touches me deeply. Thank you for sharing your lovely apartment and charming personality.
Your place is absolutely gorgeous 😍 ❤ I love that more and more people are talking about buying second-hand items! Your place is so unique it's fabulous ❤
I think the tote bag problem happens in certain circles. My tote bags look horrible. Most are stained and have holes. I have contemplated buying some. I have been given two tote bags in the last two years. I also haven’t been to any eco events in the last two years!
I personally don’t mind getting totebags because I don’t get that many and I’m always the friend who brought tote bags and while I get most of them back, I lose them at about the same rate as I get them this way
I loved what you said about trying to be zero waste in a world not designed for it (I paraphrased). Someone once suggested bringing your own containers when grocery shopping. I inquired at my local (US) bougie grocery store (Whole Foods). They looked at me like I had grown a third eyeball. Very disappointing.
Love the plate holder as part of your office/craft area. You have inspired me to look out for one as a great (sustainable) storage solution above a desk!
Hej Gittemary :D jeg fant din kanal mange år siden.. fulgte deg meget et stykke tid.. blev veganer, men kom meg ikke lengere . Jeg har flyttet meget og har haft svært ved å etablere en zero waste livstill. Men tusen takk for at spreder budskapet. Har planer med dette forår bli meget mere bæredygtig. Masser af krammer herfra
I looove valorising your home filled with amazing thrift finds, I hope you fell in love again with your home while making this video! Very nice aesthetic as well!
I don’t need 20 totes bags! 2 or 3 will more than do! I complete an embroidery design then cover the logos on some tote bags so they are cute! I typically try to complete a design that a friend or family member might like, then see if they’d like or use the tote. I’ve got friends that send me photos of them going to school or shopping with their tote bags. I’m not super artsy, but it’s better than a Kroger logo 😂 Also great scraps for mending clothes imo
Very good video! I am usually not a fan of this series, but this one was special, it was not overcrowded with data, it was mostly thought and feelings towards botox. And I agree with every single Word you said. I also thought of die Young before you age is the only way to not look Old one day before you said it :D botox to me just look horribly and the idea of putting toxin in my body just to dont have lines on forehead is just insane
I love your house! It's really cozy and really has your personality displayed! I adored all the gallery walls, how do you set them up? I find mine kind of look messy sometimes, while yours look very cool.
Love this! I love styling my home myself and this is so niiiice because I think you are equally as good at this as I am hihi ^^ Also: you look like you are really happy which is great to see :)

Hi Gittemary, thanks so much for the home tour! Not sure if anyone has asked already - how did you go about thrifting all your picture frames? There are so many and it must be hard to find frames the right size? Thanks!

Hii! I absolutely adore your videos and as an 18-year-old going to college and learning how to live sustainably your content is extremely helpful. You mentioned that you were small when comparing yourself to your table and, I'm sorry if this is a strange question, but how tall are you?
I agree, we dont need new things, and i do love buying things second hand for numerous reasons. However, if everyone drastically decreased buying new, companies would start losing money and laying off employees, and then we would have a massive number of people out of work. It's unfortunate, but buying new helps keep the economy going, and people fed with roofs over their heads 🤷♀️
The carpets ♥ but my dust allergy would be so triggered. While I am more into minimalism (it makes cleaning a lot easier and less time consuming), I really like the way your place looks. I would love to have my walls decorated like that. Gonna start looking for art. Thanks for sharing.
There are pros and cons to carpets with dust allergy. It was a theory that removing carpets relieves the symptoms, and that can be true if the carpets are old or very dirty. But carpets can actually help with "binding" the dust near the floor to reduce the amount of dust in the air. With wood flooring the dust is always ready to be whirled up into the air, when you walk around, close or open doors etc. Especially in the height where children have their heads when they sit on the floor to play, there is a lot less dust when the floor has carpets. But if you have carpets I would recommend to always remove your shoes when entering the home, and vacuum once or twice per week to keep the carpets clean.
Love that you’re showing that sustainable does not have to mean minimalist! Your apartment has such personality!
sustainability is a method and strategy, it’s not an aesthetic 🙏🌿
These are the reason why I love her and her videos.

@@jacryan2004 oooooh, thank you so much! 😊🙏🏻
