If laws back then were different for marriages that didn’t work, they could be settled amicably before moving on. It sounds like quite a whirlwind here having to keep one step ahead of the law & raise two families. It’s fascinating to learn about our ancestors. Thank you so much! 🦋
My 7th great-grandfather spent a year in prison for bigamy. He only had children with his first wife. He died a year after leaving, at only 28 years old.
Interesting that he didn't marry Sarah until 1856, when I believe all of his children would have been 16 years or older - practically adults and all but one not living at home in 1861.
Family names passed down can cause some confusion. I know a family that for generations every family named one son Duncan. In the 1870s there are 3 birth records, with in a year, that makes it look like Duncan had 3 wives in town.
If you're stressed out with 6 kids running around, and already have a wife, do you then go marry another and have a 7th? I would think you don't. Did they know of one another? Who knows, it's not my story to know either.
I am a double, what that means is that the guy maybe a clone of a dead man. That would make him look this way, and it would also explain how his dead relative lived a double life, under an alias! Normal humans dont look like over grown children unless they are a living clone of a dead person. This guy here is a clone of dead person probably!

I have at least 4 generations in my family with the same name, 3 are direct descendents.

They were hard to get and expensive due to legal fees and many poorer people couldn't afford them.
