    ABOUT THIS EPISODE
    This week we're getting green and eco-friendly with a fun little earth day craft for all my cheap wh*res who love mother earth. With thrifted napkins, some acrylic paint, and the good old power of the sun, we're turning plants and flowers into beautiful art by sunprinting on napkins. It's cheap, it's easy, and it's good for us all.

    Katy, just started watching this video. No, that is not a cyanotype. That is a sunprint. Signed, a cyanotype artist

      The paint is not sticking well because you're not painting on 100% cotton or silk.
      Another hint: carry your creations outside on a board and put a piece of glass/plexi on top while in the sun so nothing blows away. :)

    This really reminds me of a photographic printing process called Cyanotype. You paint the emulsion on study paper and then lay a huge negative over that, and then leave it in the sun. If you google it you'll see how similar a process. As another poster mentioned, the chemicals are toxic and need to be handled carefully (lots of ventilation too I think). You're recreating that look in a way less life threatening way. Great episode 👍😀

      That is so cool. Although this process is less toxic, I like to keep my personality toxic, so it evens out. 😂😘

    For transporting outside you could use a big flat baking sheet or chopping board. Just a thought

    I think I will put a sheet of glass or acrylic to let light through but hold down the pieces when I try this.

    Wow, i had no idea that it works with acrylics. Always wanted to try it but did not want to use chemicals. I even tried to get the look by putting huge leaves on a bedsheet and spraying paint with a spraybotlle on top (as a teen). Not s bad result, just not exactly what I wanted.love this!!!

    • @LaughCryDIY
      @LaughCryDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      No way! I do love the idea of painting over it. And omg imagine a whole duvet. Would be soooo cool.

    • @KarMa-ws3ll
      @KarMa-ws3ll ปีที่แล้ว

      I liked it but it did not have the sharp edges like yours. I also mixed paint with water then filled it into an old cleaner bottle. That gave it kind of an airbrushed look. I used a plant similar to palm fronds but a native European plant, that was also easier to manage bc they were fewer but really big peace. But I will try your method as soon as it gets warm here!
