As a Tekken 7 Yoshi main, i completely agree with everything you say about him. I almost immedietly dropped him in 8 to play Reina, and i played yoshi almost exclusively for 1k hours. Took him to practicemode in 8 and he just didnt feel.. right.. I dont know how to explain it, and i will probably go back to him at some point. But idk, he feels weird.
I honestly had the same experience with nina as Tekken 6 main till now. I dropped and picked up 3 other characters before I went back to her. Play the game with the mindset of it being a different game entirely and you will start to get into the feel of Tekken 8 yoshi. Hes very very good in this game just play in a way that's fun to you and you will love him again for sure.
Remember guys this is based of a casual. As you can see yoshi and king being s tier is the fact that in lower ranks (red and below) 90% dont know how to throw break and are getting knowledge checked by yoshimitsu. None of the top players think these 2 are top 5 at all for the very reason theyre gameplans get worse the more you learn the ir characters gimmicks.
I'm very consistent with breaking grabs. But factor in counter grabs, unbreakable grabs and Kings new tools makes him unbelievably strong when you combine that with his fundamental moves. As for yoshimitsu I've played top level yoshis since tekken 6 so it's not a knowledge check although I do need to get to grips with some of his new utility. It's the fact yoshi makes you play differently from how the game is intended. Flash in itself changes the flow of Tekken 8 hence why they nerfed it from being a launcher in sword stance. Yoshi can now pressure you away from the wall with the new heat system which he lacked in previous tekkens they relied heavily on gimmicks and okizemes. now he has true pressure AND gimmicks AND flash for defence with great combos, great wall tech and wall pressure. Not to mention he can spin away from from being pressured aswell so he can really control the flow of the game on all levels. Lastly I'm playing at bushin level so I'm not a low level player at all I just play casually
@@djptekken5465 Yeah I agree with Yoshi, he uses and has access to more stuff and he doesn't play Tekken but his own game, especially when they flash for 8 frames. King counter grabs yeah are pretty broken, I think they should only allow that for maybe his command normal grabs and not his chain grabs that have different routes. Also there are some bugs he has with his grabs as lil majin explained which will likely get patched (like how victor grabs are broken due to a bug, as a character he's not broken from what I've seen, and other better players than me agree, he's just a scrub killer/confusing to look at until you lab him.
@Zeridium also cuddle core and king jae both agree that king is top 5 and cuddle core believes jin is also top if you watch king jaes video with her. I think this was post patch but I believe those characters were untouched in the recent patch. Alisa could move to A I agree. But it's early days so it's subject to change when more things get labbed
I would bump Xia, Drag, Feng and DJ to S. Probably drop Jin to A and move Alisa there a ls well. Interesting how much difference are in peoples opinions about tiers.
Xiaoyu is mainly a character check not saying she doesnt have some good stuff maybe even cheap stuff but if you know xiaoyu you can shut her down immensely she isnt S teir in my opinion at all. Devil jins nerfs made him A teir u can sidestep his flying stuff now which is huge nerf to his game plan. You could argue he is s tier still but we will see what happens overtime with tournaments and more labbing e.c.t. dragunovs nerds brought him down considerably as you aren't locked into his 50/50 game plan anymore also he sucks at dealing with pressure just dont let him initiate on you too often and you will see a huge difference in his difficulty to deal with.
@@djptekken5465 Xia is strong because of her way improved 50/50 and ability to evade half of a characters move list. It is true that in time she may get easier to deal with. If you ss Devil Jins MCS 1, you risk getting clipped by the 2, 2 option. I feel Drags nerfs actually only removed the most broken combo extensions. His dmg is still way high. True that the SNK 4 followups can now be stepped, but there are still many ways for him to apply pressure, like his new +7 hatchet move. edit. I was looking at this more from the perspective of the tools each characters have and how effective they are in my opinion, instead of what I personally find hard to deal with.
Your right about ling im a ling player for 14years if you can shut down her stance she is useless but people think she op in this game but i think she is weaker in t8 then t7 because they nerft aop and her poking. The only thing about t8 ling is her new 50/50mixup
It's funny to see the confidence in ling players slow right down when consistently hit her out of stances all the crazy movement and cancels e.c.t stop completely lol. I haven't seen her 50/50 what does it involve?

@@aligeon3089I think if you're not familiar with xiaoyu then she can blow you up for sure. For xiaoyu to claw back a life lead on an opponent who plays defensive, backdashes and checks her stances it's a uphill battle for her.
In regard to Victor, I don’t think you can win with three moves. Maybe in the beginning ranks? He has great mids and highs, but his lows are pretty bad, pretty limited. Personally, I find someone like Law, who’s more balanced, much much easier to play than Victor. In order to make Victor work, you have to utilize his stances to chain unpredictable combos. Otherwise, he’s predictable and easy to beat.
I made it to fujin using those three moves as my bases. Of course I had to utilise some other moves for various scenarios but generally speaking those three moves carried me like crazy. It makes the opponent scared and hesitant to attack wrecklessly. Db+4 and Full crouch 1+2 are all he needs to get by regarding lows. I did forget to mention the gun shot aswell which forces players to come in and opens them up for a counter hit db+4 or b1+2. Let me know your thoughts on this
@@djptekken5465 Yeah! For sure! I love the gun because it controls distance. Players start respecting the spacing with that. I just watched a video by PhiDX about 20 minutes ago, a new one on Victor. He explains exactly what I was talking about with how I like to play him. PhiDX watched the best Victor player in the world right now. Obviously I'm not as good as that guy, but I play Victor in a very similar way. I was surprised that it's so similar.

Dragunov could have easily made it to s teir but he's manageable now. He crumbles under pressure and has hardly anything that makes you want to play defensive against him. If you give him space and too much respect you will never get a turn to play him. Don't let him start his madness and challenge him don't give him the ability to initiate on you constantly and you will shut him down or atleast have a much easier time against him
Obviously flawed, but its good to see everyone's perprective, even if they are not experts or pros. Have you played and/or labbed all the characters to base your opinion?
Panda I haven't played at all. The rest of the cast I have played numerous times and tested defences and work arounds in game against high level players. Like I said in my video regarding some of these characters I think its a labbing issue on my end like azcena lars who blow me up more often than not.
