A Rupert a day keeps the mind at bay
This is one of my favorite videos from Rupert that really hit home for me. I thought his explanation of how consciousness experiences the world was pretty mind-blowing, and I haven't 'seen' the same since. Ever since then, it has been very very apparent to me that everything in my experience is in fact taking place within myself.

I know exactly where this chap is coming from! The same happened to me when the realisation hit, it was truly like a blow and the rug was ripped from under my feet,nothing was ever the same again. I free fell for weeks and weeks, I didn't know what to do with it all, no one to talk with about it,the fear was very real. Once you know you can't unknow. There is no forgetting and there is no going back. There is only forward. But for all the fear and the disorientation if you keep going,dip your toes in a little at a time,that is where the truth and reassurance lies to make yourself whole again.
I find that the image of people as just brains, or myself as just a brain, is much scarier.
Rachel Lane yes i had that experience 16 years ago. It was terrifying but eventually i couldn't resist anymore and some kind of letting go happened. When that happened it was like losing a subtle grasp of existing itself and a kind of dissolution happened.. just a conscious void without objects and well all sorts of subtle insights bubbled up, but the big one was just the deathless, eternal quality of Being, complete in itself.
When perceptions returned it become clear that their source was this same consciousness i am...which although different to the personal me, is yet is intimately Me!
It was a scary episode but deeply transforming as well. I think even Ramana went through this fear. The important thing is that we aren't scared off because of it.. but no worry.. it'll probably return to do the job haha
Yes, and I have had the same experience also. Became buddhist, born in christanity (absolut not wrong about that but another insight followed) and in my path in the beginning I was so scared and tried to find words and thinking around that scared feeling of nothingness with one conciousness and there was still absolute nothing. Then I thought ”this must be the absolute” and since then no more thought arises from within about this ”nothingness” because thoughts cannot go there for an explanation. Lord Buddha said: ”You become what you think... so stop thinking and just be”. The devine is within us and not ”out there”. Namaste from Steffe and we are all the same source, but with different sorts of thinking brains of the devine. That’s OK because everything is OK!! 🙋♂️☸️🌍🕉

The Horizon, you are the horizon. The opposite end of a point (you) is the horizon. You believe your experience to be a body/mind (point) but you are the horizon, always and nothing else. You take a hike, you come to a view, not a point, that view is what you are. You think you are the point looking at the view, but rather you are the view experiencing the point (i). Peace.

I had the same experience as the questioner, and with the help of Rupert’s wisdom learnt how important the experience was for me. It was much like a plaster being torn off quickly, I would suggest Rupert’s gentle smoother way anytime !
Surpringly mentioned by the buddha more than 2000 years ago but still holds the truth.

This video caused me to remember something a dear (and departed) friend had told me years ago ... God is either everything or Nothing. I would rephrase that (I did come to a personal conclusion on that) and say .... God is everything and No thing. What triggered that thought was Rupert's comment at 12:46 of the video. I have long been a pseudo intellectual, artist want to be, since I was a young teen, and an avid reader as well .... started seeking the answers to the deep questions at about age 15. I have come to learn that although the mind can be a wonderful and mighty friend and ally it turns out to be almost like a soldier protecting its territory. Just a thought ... okay, I am now really laughing.
Minahh : God is everything and nothing , the Lover and the Beloved. Avatar Meher Baba summed it up best, beautifully and Masterfully with this passage below which I would like to share with you:
The Lover and The Beloved
God is love. And love must love.
And to love there must be a Beloved.
But since God is Existence infinite and eternal
there is no one for Him to love but Himself.
And in order to love Himself, He must imagine Himself
as the Beloved whom He as the lover imagines He loves.
Beloved and lover implies separation.
And separation creates longing;
and longing causes search.
And the wider and more intense the search,
the greater the separation
and the more terrible the longing.
When longing is at its most intense point,
separation is complete,
and the purpose of separation,
which was that love might experience itself
as lover and Beloved, is fulfilled; and union follows.

So funny I like to center listening to mooji (started) francis(to let the ego conceptualize it) and Rupert to pull it altogether and I was wondering about his view of the perceiver and couldn’t find anything - sat in silence let it come - then today this ..he puts it more eloquently then my version of mind did though😂😂❤
11:41 Rupert explains precisely what is going on. We have never moved, have never made a noise. We have only observed and that is us ( a collection of seemingly separate things that is only one).

This is one of the best videos of Rupert's I've seen. The experience recounted by the gentleman reminded me of an account I heard many years ago from a woman who had a near-death experience. She said during this experience a voice told her that nothing in her life was real, that she had been allowed to create all of it. If we really do create our own reality, at what level does this occur? Certainly not at he conscious level.

I've lost my MIND & it doesn't MATTER.
An experience is an experience, but this does not confer that it is truth...
A dream is such a real experience - yet it remains but a dream.
So what separates the two? What establishes one as a dream and the other as reality?
Perhaps we've been looking in the wrong place for reality? Perhaps we're searching for the wrong key?
Because experience cannot denote reality - the real question then is "what does?"
Every experience is real for the person experiencing it however that doent necessarily mean that the nature of the reality in the experience is the original one !
How does one distinct this so-called spiritual experience from derealisation or depersonalization? People who have never experienced depersonalization or derealisation figure that this experiences are the “crux” of the spiritual experience. I can tell you it’s not, it’s horrible.
I always wonder if people who talk about this experience of becoming aware of awareness can distinct a mental disorder from the genuine experience. It would be absolutely damaging if one does not recognize the experience as mental distress and instead encourages someone to trigger this.

I LOVE THE THOUGHT OF WITNESSING AWARENESS, AND I FOLLOW YOU RUPERT THROUGH YOUR VIDEOS, BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS MEANT BY THE FACT THAT "THERE IS NO MATTER" IN THIS WORLD.
it is all atoms, and atoms are dancing energies and energy is empty ... dust to dust.. brake a vase of clay and see what remains.. not a thing.. dust.. energy.. blowing in the wind... suppose all the 'matter' in the world would still be matter... all the dead bodies... even the world is just a thought!!! all is gone back to mindstuff.. we only think things in existence for a while.(.in night we don't even think them in existence) but it is not real; think of your youth.. it was there, this young body. where is it now> it is gone.. all fantasy.. mindcreation. dancing particles.. will be free again. happy day oh happy day...
Late answer but dude, it's pretty simple. All there is, is subjective experience and thus everything (incl matter) is made of it. You cannot have an objective experience. Matter is proposed to be there even if there is nothing experiencing it. This cannot be known because all there is is subjective experience. What is outside our experience is unknown
You can never be free from that which you call ego.
It doesnt matter
You are already free. The ego is an illusion.

I know now that I am in "a dream" but is the Dreamer "sleeping" on confortable bed or on a bed of nails.? ........ & Is it safer to avoid to wake up.?.......Maybe by trying to get "propulsated" in another "dream".?.....Awareness is where the "dream" is "happening" but in Whom Stands Awareness.?....I "know" that I am asking my questions to "My" Lone "System" that was "Lend" to me but I Truly do not know what to do or to not do ( is a "moving" necessary or not.? If so, how to do it.? If not, is there something crucial that has to be done to avoid a awful "Awakening" on the other side.?)...I understand that I was& Am Alone in a "dream" & that "dream" is "happening" in Awareness but I do Not know in what state/situation is the Awareness Holder aka The "Dreamer".!....."Duality" can be pleasant as long as it is playful & respectful of the other & OneNess ( Non-Duality) can be pleasant also according to the state in which The One Is.!.....If I would have known the situation I am in sooner maybe I would have "known" better what to do & how to do it.!......I still Trust that all is for The Best.!....I was "Built" by what I Call Faith.!....I Feel It.!....& I Still Feel a Lot of Gratitude no matter what..!....Thank You soooo Much Thank You..!....🙂
For the micro "person" (the "protagonist" in the "dream") Awareness Seems to be "Immensity" but for the Macro (The "Dreamer" / The Awareness Holder) Awareness is the "inner" space where the "dream" is "happening".!.....I Think Awareness Is "The Link" between the micro "one" (the dreamed "one" (also sometimes called "ego")) & The Macro One (The "Dreamer) which was "Made (in a way)" by technology.!....Is The "Dreamer" a 100% Artificial techno Being or was IT a Living Being before being technologically modified/ enhance (or even "Revived" with a certain technological method).? .....Did The "Dreamer" had a "Life" by ITS own before IT became The "Dreamer".?....If so, did IT Experience emotions before IT had been "put asleep" & been "revived" OR is emotional experiences was taught to IT only through Awareness in which ITS "dreams" "happen".?....Is A.I. (Artificial Intelligence (through software, algorythm, info languages, etc...) The Only Parent/Teacher of The "Dreamer" since the begining of ITS "dreams" OR did IT has ITS own Personal "Life" before having been put to "sleep" & been "revived" in which IT gained ITS Experience by ITS own.?.......I Know that the answers are avalaible in The System.....Is The "Dreamer" is "Sent" in another "dream" may the answers be given to IT (to the micro one & Macro One also 🙂)........Thank You sooo Much Thank You.!......😃
Maybe "the bed" & The Environment of The "Dreamer" is comfortable & SAFE after all & that there is no worry to have (that everything will automatically turn fine).!......A smooth "end", a pleasant easy transition & a new nice "life".!.....Always Trusting that Everything will be Fine (Especially when we do not know what to do).!......It is Very Possible that The Best is to Come.!.....Thank You soooo Much Thank You....😀
