      I RESEMBLE THAT! I'm 70 in a few days... I rarely use anything too strong in the THC, (unless I'm at a show or festival :) but the hybrids with high CBD and THC both, keep me working, enjoying and playing w/o pain. And no temptation to dull the pain with two or three beers.

    I would have to say as a cannabis smoker that when i partake my attention to detail and focus are increased while my memory outside of what i am focused on decreases. My ability to get back to a task after being distracted is what is most effected. I have never experienced any enhanced strength or athletic capabilities. Cannabis usage has increased my curiosity for things outside of my understanding.

      I honestly couldn't of put that any better my self. You end up drowning out everything around you and focusing on the thing you're doing. It makes mundane, boring, everyday things more enjoyable.

    Wow! It took me a year to find this. This is for the "Pot Doctor". I've been using cannabis over 40 years and daily for the last 25 years. I used to be a long distance runner, and I found that running is mentally challenging as much as it is physically. After I left the US Army, I stopped using aspirin before my runs and started using cannabis in place of the aspirin. I also grew my own organic pot for 16+ years in Hawaii. I am a big fan of Neil and now a big fan of Chuck and the "Pot Doctor". Great show guys!

      It is crazy to me that we KNOW (via official documentation like the Watergate tapes, especially, for example) that the "War on Drugs" (before and after the official campaign) was initiated to directly blame/impact first Mexicans searching for work during the Gold Rush, then the blacks and Jews (as the users and pushers, respectively). Still we hold our collective heads deep in the sand and overall shun weed. But not alcohol. 🧐 We demonise the plant that grows that way so that we can drive slower and chill, but the alcohol that takes a long and specific distilling process to make which often comes with horrific accidents and domestic abuse... that's just fine.
      Why do we still call Native Americans "Indians"? Why do they prefer to be called Indians?? WE'VE KNOWN SINCE 1492 THAT COLUMBUS DIDN'T FIND THE OTHER SIDE OF INDIA.
      I hate collective lies even more, I think, than individual ones.
      Sorry about the rant response. Excellent quote placement.

    It is well established that "Runner's High" is produced by the endogenous CB1 and CB2 agonist anandamide. Anandamide produces "Runner's High" by interacting with CB1 and CB2 generating euphoria, anxiety reduction (central CB1 receptors) and pain reduction (peripheral CB1 and CB2). Anyone that has ever competed in long distance running knows that once the "runner's high" kicks in, you will start to perform better going forward. If anandamide works through CB1/CB2 to produce these effects, then one would expect THC to do the same. I am a little surprised that anandamide and runner's high were not mentioned in this discussion.

I enjoy cannabis recreationally and even self medicate for aches and pains (it's one of the best anti-inflammatories) without any real issues, but sometimes if I mix with alcohol it can have negative trip or an increase of anxiety... but just remind yourself you chose to partake and tell yourself that it will pass, is literally all you need to do. Also, the cannabinoid system in our bodies is integral for maintaining homeostasis... cannabis is very effective in helping regulate or bring your body back to homeostasis. It's actually an amazing thing.
    It was also Carl Sagan's favorite plant and intoxicant... this opened my eyes and mind to this plant after reading his takes on this plant.
    In reality, the most dangerous aspect of marijuana is being caught with it. There is literally no comparison to the harms of it physiologically versus the criminal risks.

    I am someone who has definitely suffered from cannabis use disorder. Simply, I was very dependent on weed. I tried to quit many times to no avail. As of now I am no longer smoking daily and haven't in quite some time and don't plan on it ever again. Here are my thoughts on weed: 1) It should 100% be legalized medically and can have amazing effects (for example being prescribed to those with terminal conditions like cancer patients for pain). I also believe weed should be legalized for recreational use just because the government has no right to deny the right to do something that has very little physical adverse effects (especially compared to something like alcohol). That being said, it has become clear to me that marijuana is not the safe drug that I and most people think it is. Based on my experience and from what I've seen in multiple instances of those close to me, it can be extremely dangerous to your mental health. When I was smoking every night I would spend my days more depressed/anxious and I had almost no appetite. Because of what I had seen/read from the media I was convinced that it wasn't weed's fault, until I quit. Obviously different people have different reactions to the substance but it is not the "savior drug" that people make it out to be. If you are someone who struggles with mental health I would stay as far away from weed as possible. I used it as an escape from all my problems. I couldn't sleep without it, which made quitting miserable. When I was high I felt so much better, which was quite literally the biggest problem. If you are someone who is dependent on weed like I was, just know it does get better.

      I have no medical or neurological expertise whatsoever. However, is it not the case that all drugs (specifically referring to pharmaceutical drugs) will have more or less effect on the individual. If cannabis has over 400 different elements (of which each can effect every person differently) does the same apply to medical drugs? And if so, we must be using all pharmaceuticals either dangerously or ineffectually. Or at the very least, grossly inefficiently.

      @@vinylfascist one is synthetic. The other is formed from compounds found in the human body and nature.
      The synthetic one, being made in a lab, is only going to have the effect of the synthetic compound.
      The natural one, has a variety of levels of these natural compounds based on the strain the sample is taken from. So you get varying levels of these compounds.
      This is why some weed will get you "higher" than others and in some cases have no medical effect on the user.
      Because of the variety of compounds in the plant, the same people who experience a negative effect from its use may still receive the benefits of its use by trying a different plant that has the compounds that your body could use in a beneficial manner and less of the compounds that caused the negative effect.

I'm talking about those lower level feelings. We all like to think we know where they come from, why we think the things we do. Psychedelics have the power to undo those notions and humble us, bring us to want learn about ourselves again... and then the world around us. You foster, through that experience the curiosity that eventually lends you the understanding to beat the fear. And then you can do whatever you need to do, though what that is has likely changed for you by that point.
      I'm just saying... and I do say this with utmost compassion - please do some soul-searching, take some time to work out why you feel how you do deep down inside... what compels you to fixate on these ideas about the world, that you will yet do nothing about outside of pumping out frustrations online? It's a bad cycle. At some point you gotta ask yourself what this bitter 1-track cynicism is really worth to you, where your thoughts are taking you, what the outcome is. What does it really help you understand? Can you grow from it? Can you make something better with it? What's the best thing you can do with this? What's waiting for you on the other side of these ideas? Questions worth asking when it comes to sorting ones ideas about the world.

    I have borderline personality disorder, was diagnosed 20 years ago. When I couldn't find any meds that would help my step father told me to try weed. It is the only thing that allows me to be chill and not get angry or irritable in severe ways. I have been smoking for 20 years every day. I would say the biggest misconception about weed, is when you are chronic and you do it daily it is very very different than if you use it every now and again. The only difference you would notice when I am high and not is I am nicer when I am high. I actually don't really feel much of anything except calmer. If it wasn't for weed I would of killed myself long ago. When I was financially able I was smoking up to an ounce a day. I don't remember where I read this, but it was about the use of cannabis by modern hunter/gatherer tribes before a hunt. It was stated (as told by the elder or 'medicine man' of the tribe) they did this to increase their focus on the task at hand (=killing something to eat). The 'zoning experience', as a lot of recreational cannabis users would describe it as one of the effects.
    In other words it made it easier for the hunting party to concentrate on the task, rather than being distracted by normal societal cognitive thought patterns (i.e. "I have to do the dishes later", or "I promised my friend to help him with his leaking roof").
    That's not something you want to think about if your life (=food/hunting big game) depends on it.
    I think it was in one of those sixties studies I read as a curious lad (I'm well over forty now).

    I’m new to smoking and growing cannabis (3 years in!) I’m not a daily smoker, but I will say, that I have had stints where I have smoked 4 days in a row and what I noticed is that there is a euphoric feeling that I get accustomed to and want to feel it daily. I wouldn’t call it an addiction but I do think about the feeling a lot even tho I have at least 10oz. At home at all times, so obviously I’m not running through my stash enough to be “addicted”.

TV isn’t addicting, but a lot of people watch TV as part of their daily routine, and if you suddenly removed that from their routine, it would certainly throw them off. That’s how I see weed. It’s not addicting, but it can become part of your routine, and any disturbance to your routine could be distressing.

So yes, a relaxed state, where you are not distracted, nervous, overthinking etc...Your limbs do what you want them to and they aren't delayed by microseconds of "thinking" about it. This has helped when playing music. Though, i've also had it not help (maybe because of dose or the current state of my body).

    Yeah, started smoking in 68, at age 14, been at it ever since, off and on, ( mostly on!) and am still in full possession of my faculties... Someone asked what is a lid, and the someone else answered: here's another fact... Back in the day, (late '60s, early 70's) "lid", technically an oz. was often measured by four fingers, came from Mexico, and sold for $10.00... Black market-- Now, in the legal market, an oz. can go for upwards of $200.00!.. and that's a helluva lot, no doubt! But, with THC levels off the charts-( for instance, my last purchase had a level of over 38 percent on the flower, and over 80 with the concentrate (shatter). Therefore, we don't smoke it at anything close to the volumes we once did when levels were more like 7%on average, and it wasn't uncommon to roll three joints and smoke 'em amongst a couple friends. Now, just a couple hits and you're good... Also, something we were unaware of back then was terpene profiles... Terps, like limonene, pinene, myrcene and beta- caryilophylene, ocinene and others, which are throughout the plant kingdom, giving many fruits and vegetables thier scents and flavors, just like they do for cannibis. They're the same terpene too... So, I hope all this has been informative and helpful, especially considering how long it took me to bang it out on my phone, one finger at a time!..

To me the best case for this is how each culture handled clean water. Tea, Beer, Wine, and Mead were common ways of keeping water safe to drink. So some people like tea where others like wine. I never included weed into that thought process until now. I expect mainly as an anti inflammatory to manage pain. I would expect the psychoactive part of it was a tool to help the plant propagate similar to plants tasting good or bad.

    Hi Neil & Chuck!
    Pot was legal here for medical use for a long while and now it is legal recreationally.
    I have smoked pot off and on for about 50 years. I have never used any "harder" drugs.
    As a retired software evaluation engineer with over 30 years of experience, I never
    experienced any long-term degradation of mental capacity.
    IMHO, pot's Federal "Schedule 1" classification should be rescinded.

    So I use it daily all throughout the day and have noticed different strains affect me differently. I really like that growers and shops are now educating the public and allowing us to find what works for us individually. My mother makes her own butter and uses a dosing scale to make a honest dose in a puck form. She uses it on all kinds of food and still enjoys the effects, it does work almost the same but the high takes longer to work.
    Point is I'm glad weed is being investigated further for its scientific/medicinal properties and uses.

      @pattyayers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agree. I do think it’s sad that so many people know cannabis only via edibles - completely different high than smoking. I smoke every day of my life, but wouldn’t take edibles if you literally paid me. Who needs to wait 2 hours to be much MORE high, or much LESS, than you wanted? Just think they should know that.

    • @C0manso
      @C0manso ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pattyayers Late reply here, but there is also sublingual oil aswell which can give you a little buzz in around 15 minutes. Then later on you'll get the rest of the buzz like an edible and lasts a lot longer which is what I want.
      I see and appreciate what you're saying about smoking since it's so fast but I like to be discrete and enjoy it in the comfort of my home without causing a smell. There is the stuff about lung health n such aswell but I'm not here to debate that or anything, just I'd rather not take that risk whether it's high (no pun intended) or not.
      I will say the sublingual oil tastes nasty in my opinion though so there is that downside.

    • @C0manso
      @C0manso ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @mlord692 I'd say I've at least had 3 different strains in my life and I've only ever bothered to ask what I bought once, and it was stardawg. The first one I had was very euthoric feeling, made food taste SO much better (not craving, just better taste) , made my mouth dry, very red/dry eyes, and then the downside was it worsened my anxiety if I was in the wrong mindset.
      Stardawg my eyes don't get red unless I consume over 50mg, my mouth never gets dry, no anxiety at all, but made me giggly and enhanced arousal/feeling.
      3rd one just made me insanely chill and sometimes when I'd wake up the next day my taste would be enhanced (with a little headache that goes away as soon as I get up).
      So you're absolutely correct that strains do matter

    Great topic, reading the comments makes me reflect upon my experience. I tried both Sativa & Indica, didn’t like Sativa that much, mind got too excited after taking 2 gummys. I used Indica mints to help with my sleep for about 6 months, really saw improvements during the 1st couple of months, but the dryness of my mouth & sensation of feeling my stomach & getting hungry before sleep, got worse & I really didn’t like it, so I quit basically at the end. Once quit, getting back to sleep naturally was a bit hard, I’d toss & turn for a few hours, listen to some music, then eyes got tired but mind still awake, but after few weeks of adjustments, it’d get better. I only liked the part that before the Indica effects fully kicks in, I can feel the mind & body “sinking”, that’s when I know it’s started, & I’d explore my mind for the next 30 mins to think about the things in life that I normally can’t figure out when sober… LOL it helped solve a lot of my questions in life, the mind just ran on its own, so fast & visual/graphic of the logic process, I had trouble tracing back the memory of how the logic flows basically, that’s the cool part I liked, but it’d last only for a while before “sinking” deeper to sleepinesses… 😂

They only perform better than themselves, because by default, if you’re not motivated, you aren’t performing any good most likely, so you wanna come to a level that everyone is.
