I appreciate your teaching style. You do not rush and do not speed up the video. Watching you doing repetitive stitches or techniques helps me remember the steps. I also like there are no music on your videos to distract us. Your calming voice, a silence background and watching you work and show how to do things several times, with the addition of birds signing on the background or your little kitty saying “hi” is absolutely lovely.

Thank you so much. I wasn't sure what people would expect. And I see such polished videos, where they've got proper equipment, but I just have to use what I have and do it the way I can. Thank you 😊💐

Hi Marion! Your filming style is natural and without pretense. Re music in between your instructions: I for one like the silence in between while you’re musing and thinking, it’s like having a friend stitching with you in a comfortable silence. I don’t mind silence.
Thank you for the tip on the whipping stitch and the chain stitch!
Your creative mind must be full of projects! Thank you for taking the time to share your talent with us. ❤

It's amazing to watch you work, and see how quickly you make something complicated look so easy. You create such a cozy vibe that any silence is a comfortable one. Thank you for demonstrating and explaining the stitches you are using, and how many strands of thread. I'm stitching along while I embellish tiny crazy quilt squares made by my grandma years ago. I will be now be adding those stitches into my project. Thank you for sharing! 💕

I think your filming style is fine is natural and relaxing. I've been embroidering for quite a few years now, but in just a few videos, I've learned new techniques and have started looking at it differently. So, thank you for sharing your gift and insights. It's refreshing to see someone with a new voice sharing their unique vision.

Thank you so much for your encouraging message. I used to think that no-one would be interested in anything I did because they would already know how to do things. It's been lovely for me to realise that whatever stage people are at everybody can learn some new things. I know I learn every single day! Hopefully it's what keeps us fresh and interested in what's going on.

I know how easy it is to get sidetracked by a new project 😂. I'm used to padding 3D in other embroidery styles but my shapes never look realistic so quickly! I realised you're left-handed but I'm more interested in your thought process and ideas. I've got stitch books I can access when I come to the embroidered part. I'm happy to enjoy feeling I'm stitching along with you even if I have to watch the longer videos in parts sometimes. That said who needs music even if you do have to stop talking now and then when you come to tricky bits? Your calming but instructive videos are such a pleasure to watch. Thanks Marion.

Hi again, Marion from a very hot Texas at the moment! My roses and garden are struggling at the moment so it feels so cool when I see your beautiful garden. I was blessed to have spent a couple of weeks in the UK some years ago, and loved the cooler weather. Marion, as I said before, you’re so extremely talented and creative. I admire you for being brave and pushing through the challenges of technology. I was a glass artist/teacher until recently, and I was quite put off by the technical aspects of putting tutorials on TH-cam! Good for you that you’re so courageous! I love your tutorials, but even more I think we all love you and your lovely, quiet personality. ♥️.Keep going. We are all cheering for you! Donna Sarafis, Dancing Light Fused Glass

The technical parts of filming and editing have been the hardest for me to get a grip of. Give me something practical to learn and I'm off and running! But computers....I'm in the age group that just doesn't naturally do these things, especially when my former work was totally outdoors. My husband always dealt with the invoices and the emails etc. It's been a big learning curve!

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. It must really push you into many new areas including technology My husband and I are 76, and we both struggle with computers and any technology although he is a retired teacher. I have rediscovered textiles and I am learning so much. I love color and nature! I am taking my designs for glass and reinventing them in textile art. Some will be like small quilt art, some in fabric books or journals, and some in framed pieces. I love designing my own patterns or just freely designing on the go. That’s why I love your work so much because we do seem to have common ground in that way. I don’t have the experience and knowledge you have though. So I am looking forward to learning so much from you! ♥️

      @marionsworld24  ปีที่แล้ว +1

It is definitely stumpwork. The butterfly on the front of my first book is quite traditional in the way it was made. The blackbird will become more 3D as he progresses. Sometimes people think these techniques are too difficult to do. But it is still basically stitchwork. I've just tried to break it down to simple steps. I'm pleased you thought it was good. Thank you.

I have all sorts. Mostly DMC and anchor for stranded thread. But there are other brands too as a lot of it is thrifted. I love using perle cotton. I buy that from Steph Francis as she has lovely variegated colours. And some of the fine perle threads are called Danish flower threads. They're really difficult to find now because they aren't made anymore.

Thank you for the lovely message Jackie.
I do now use the light of my needlework stand to light things up. It's been a big learning curve as I hadn't filmed anything before starting my channel in June...
      I'm pleased you're enjoying watching ☺️

Love your videos exactly the way they are. I personally hope you dont add music. Your silences are natural and give me time to absorb your instructions.

No music.... everyone has been saying the same. I just though that would be what everyone would expect. I've seen it on some other channels. But I'll just stay as I am...

Thank you for showing how you stitch, love how you stitch left handed & cut with your right hand, Could see ok on book cover video having the white sheet made it hard for you to stitch, I like your videos without music.

    • @marionsworld24

Well I only cut right handed because I haven't got left handed embroidery scissors... I do have left handed fabric scissors though, so when I'm cutting out for clothes I do cut left handed.
I've had a better idea for the white sheet actually. I think it was a bother because it was loose. I'm going to cover the piece of thick felt and make it into a proper surface. That should be better all round. Also ...no music it is...

Yes I like your filming style - I hate it when there is repetitive music - it takes away from your concentration - I myself have some painted pictures of birds on fabric and have taken one out of its frame and I'm in the process of adding thread and beads to it - don't know how it will turn out - but watching your video has spurred me on. Thank You😊😊

Hi, Marion. Please, no music. Because you sew left-handed, it’s real easy for me to see your work. What a plus for your videos! You said you haven’t watched much embroidery. Try Diana Vingert. She’s left-handed and doesn’t add music. Look for a video where she stitches giant florals. I love what you’ve done! You explain very well. I’d never seen a whipped chain stitch before. It looks like an easy way to get a 3-D effect. Do you have a piece of the Victorian watered silk with original stitching? I assume it was hand-stitched and would love to see it. I’m loving the bird. 💜

No music Mara! I've had so many comments about it. I had no idea really because I haven't watched other peoples till now. I'm definitely going to look her up.... especially if she's a leftie like me!
I got the whole skirt in quite a bad state. The fabric is very fragile in parts, but also very beautiful. It is machined but had hand stitched buttons and closures. I used the frill from the bottom for the raven wings. If there is time I'll show it on the next video.

@@marionsworld24 That’s great news about the music. Some people like it, but those might be younger people. It’s amazing how many seventy-something-year-olds watch crafting videos (sewing, paper). I’m 71. 😁
