    This series is a hidden gem. I stumbled upon the first episode roughly a year (or two) ago, and was immediately addicted. As you have said before, almost every other devlog shows someone with advanced coding skills and a practically finished game ‘starting’ their journey - but this is different. It’s real, relatable, and inspiring. Every now and then I get a notification about you uploading, and it’s just a fabulous reminder that my favourite creator exists, and is still following their dreams. Thanks 🙃.

    I wasn't expecting metal gear, but nice to know! I loved that game. The original as a kid. Almost movie-alike at times, same with Resident Evil 2 at the ending of the game! Not so much into the newer games unfortunaly. Have you tried any of em'? The RE HD remakes or newer Metal gears? Good to see your game is progressing! I'm in crunch mode atm. Working hard on the pixelart that is crazy detailed, don't know why i took that route...But i did! Think Day of the Tentacle meets Thimbleweed Park.

    Funny thing is, the last Ubisoft game I played did not have skill points, just equipment effects. And it did not have radio towers ether... I actually enjoyed climbing those...

    It's not that we can't get an electric kettle, it's just we don't typically use them. Typically use the nukrowave (microwave) to heat up water. Sometime can even use the coffee pot, if you want tea.

    If it reduces the amount of videos you can do, then just get back to the regular thing.
    But I really enjoyed this. I won't watch most gamedevs go through their boring routines, but you have a sort of wry humor, you have intelligent editing, and of course, I'm very interested in the game.
    I think however you go about it, you have the chops to build a viewership, provided you're persistent. You're now an instant-click for me, along with Kyle Banks and Devduck.

    Heyhey, I'd like to ask how you realized those speech bubbles around the texts? They look like sort of partially opaque, makes the text better readable. I'm very noob in AC. Thanks for your two 1h videos AC for dummys. Helped me a lot :) :)

    • @pcd
      @pcd  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just a semi-transparent PNG I made in Photoshop, which is then added as the subtitle background in the AC menu.

    • @pcd

      Yeah you have to set a specific size with the sliders in the AC menu. I haven't figured out how to make a dynamic one that adjusts per dialogue size, unfortunately.

  • @ryanheath9974
    @ryanheath9974 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hiya mate, I'm really enjoying this series. I've managed to make a very some basic stuff using AC and hope to develop a point-and-click next, set in the Nottingham caves. I've also got a partner and a job, and am rapidly approaching 30 in a few months. Do you have any advice on how to fit game dev in around a busier schedule? How much time do you typically block out each week without your partner getting the hump?

    • @pcd
      @pcd  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm the worst person to ask about this because my gamedev is so feast-or-famine. When I have a bit of a break in my freelance work I go hell for leather, and then when work picks up I drop it like a stone. I wish I could be one of those people who just does an hour a day, but it's not how I work, sadly. If you figure out how, let me know!

      We work on the same archaic electrical systems as the USA. You guys have 240v we have 110v. Surprisingly we can still have modern appliances despite the differences. 240v infrastructure would be superior. But USA doesn’t adapt well to change and our grids are linked between maple flag land and merica land.

    Why not doing a tutorial like most of the Monkey Islands games do (and many other older games), just super basic and simple in-game level that teaches users super quickly how to navigate? Actual tutorials always pull me totally out of the story.
    Just a suggestion :)

    • @pcd

      So the opening basement scene kind of is that - you can't leave until you solve the (very simple) sandwich puzzle, which involves doing most of what you'll do in the rest of the game.
