Our flight MH0124 was flying from Perth without our luggages except for crews’ and business class passengers’. Now we know what’s the real cause is. Thank you so much Mitchell !

Probably worth a whole lot more than that nowadays as I aimed low. Looks like a landscape tarp to hold the the grass down at the other side of the runway. At 0:39 just above bush at left side of screen, far side of runway near the white rectangle. At 0:53 you can see the tarp rise on the far side of the runway, but the concrete pavement is still there.
Well done on your great steady footage, I have never seen anything like this. That plane looked to me like it was never going to get lift off. Best wishes for your continued success in filming planes, and plane-spotting.
Runways that I have seen redone are all concrete very thick at least 18 inches if not more. At best, what came up was a thin layer of asphalt maybe a temp repair for cracks etc..

@@SamYSSY to be honest, if I missed out on this and then the 747 didn’t arrive I wouldn’t be happy, but this video has already got so many views and has been all over the news. I’ve also been asked to make comments in the newspaper, so quite happy.
I wasn’t going to film this plane, but I was running early to start my live stream so thought I would give it a shot. I actually didn’t know about the asphalt being ripped up until after the video had been finished, all I really noticed was the dust.
Amazing, the plane didn't seem to do anything unusual but the asphalt flew into the air. Someone should tell them, it's supposed to be the planes that fly, not the runway! 😅

@@kenbulut-oe8sb my genuine concern why open the runway up when their mid job. I know it would be a big issue meaning that some flights couldn’t take off, but if it’s going to happen then I think the money should be lost, although I suppose a company would never do that 🙄. Safety < Money

Yeh. All the MSM was trying to pump up that it was a Qantas plane that did the damage, with "this just weeks after Qantas was accused of..." like Qantas was at fault with this in anyway.

Well you can hardly blame Quanta’s for this can you, it’s obviously the fault if the Perth airport authorities if they checked the runway but didn’t spot the defected runway way!
How how HOW did they do that? That whole thing had to be in such sad shape compared to the substructure that it was questionable to even be using that runway. How many people will be investigated and fired over the incompetence of maintenance?
Maybe should have sold it before posting it. Contractors nightmare just became a reality Repair Costs are going to be awesome. What’s the cost of servicing a A330? Hmmm 🤭

@@YpphPlaneGuy Cool. Hope it works out well for you mate. I've actually worked on the runway a few times but was the shorter one 06/24 some years back. profiling then resurfacing it.I think the same Asphalt company did it back then and this new section was just done recently by them Fulton Hogan.

Was the tarmac, not the rubber. This particular part wasn’t even a month old so definitely wasn’t rubber.
