Holy metal grinding Batman! That was a chonk of steel, how long did it take you to grind the flats? I recently did something similar, made my design and I didn't take in to account how thick it was going to be before shaping in the knife, once I saw it I was like "no biggie, grind her down".... yeah, that took FOREVER. lol Looks awesome, got a new sub!
Haha yeah, I was grinding for a LONG time. It took a few hours, maybe 3? But it was intentional, I wanted the very center of the twist for the pattern! Thanks so much for the sub 🙏
Great work! I really like that main rounding hammer you used with the big flat face on the other side. Mind if I ask where you got it or who it’s made by?
@Mattmakesknives2 use thinner material then forge together. A lot of twist but forge them harder and thinner... I did a cross and folded them and forged thinn...a very interesting patter...god luck..
Not understanding why you spent the time to twist every bar just to use center sections of each. Hopefully you plan to forge out the square ends and do another stack welded billet. Even if it’s for a paring knife, or utility knife.
beautiful work, but can I ask about the logic of doing the acid etch after attaching the handle? I genuinely want to know, not being a smart ass. Anyway, the knife looks great!
Thank you! Yeah I just didn’t want to scratch the handle up doing any finish work on the handle after glue up. I also used clear nail polish on the wood to protect it from the etching, which comes off super easy and clean with some acetone.
I don't know it seems very wasteful to me all that steal that you left on the billets you could use so much more that steel cut it even further up closer to the end just seems very wasteful
😡👎Don't call your video ASMR if you don't know what it means. Channel Blocked. An autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a tingling sensation that usually begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. A pleasant form of paresthesia, it has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia and may overlap with frisson. NOBODY will get all tingly watching this.
Гарний ти хлопець..... Моя тобі порада.Наступного разу,не треба нічого ковати. Випилюй ножа прямо зі свого ковадла! І не переймайся гріндером,то дурня. Використовуй наждачку та надфіль.
A truly forged knife. Don’t see that much anymore. My hats off to you and the knife turned out great.

绝对的精品!
Thank you! 🙏
Beautiful knife, finally a blade smith using safety equipment. I cringe watching some of the other knife smith’s without any safety gear.
Only got two eyes! And lungs haha
... the other knife smiths* - plural, no apostrophe.

Thank you! I made that hammer about 6-7 years ago. I actually made all of my hammers. Used it with the OG handle I made for it that whole time too!
@@Mattmakesknives2awesome! I’m a new subscriber to both channels, so I look forward to seeing more.
How do you stay warm in the open air forge
Swinging the hammer, wearing a big jacket, standing by the forge, and I still freeze my butt off lol
Best grinded knife i have seen....you have grinded away atleast 1 ore 2 knifes....
Yeah, the best part of twist is in the center, so I had to grind a lot off…

I used the center as it was the tightest twist. The rest will absolutely get used in another project, probably a couple
Beautiful knife 😊😮❤
Thanks!

Прекрасный нож 🔪
Thank you 🙏
สวัสดีครับอาจารย์ออกมาสวยเลย🙏👍👍
Thank you so much! 🙏
GD that is allot of wasted material there in your initial cut-offs....
I save all the cut offs
Who cares, it's his project.
... a* lot* (to allot = to allocate)
Зачем было делать таким толстым чтоб потом так мучаться? Металла столько перевёл!
Making twist damascus requires a lot of material waste to get the best pattern.
Very nice
Thank you 🙏
gostei do seu trabalho.. ganhou minha inscrição

My toes are starting to Tingle....does that count 😂😂😂😂
I think it does 😅
Супер ❤️
Thank you!
You spent 10 times more material than necessary, this is just disgusting work! You don't think about anything at all!!!
