I'm catching up Sandy. Very interesting to see the new shelter and crickey that's bad luck with the embers! What a cracking stew, and Marina and I always love to see your cooking and how appetising it always looks. Great to see the Jacklore too this time. Hope the next camp is a tad dryer for you. Keep safe. Best wishes. P & M
Hi Sandy 👋🏻👋🏻. Another great video. You make it all look so simple 😄. Boy oh boy it looked windy, I was concerned that the wind would get under the snow flaps and fly off into the woods. Should have known that you’d realize and put some wood on the flaps to keep the tent grounded 👍👍👍. Loved seeing the night time visitors. Take care, stay safe, well and happy. Judy🇨🇦🇨🇦
It was breezy Judy but the logs did an OK job of keeping the snow skirt down. Not sure if we will see snow in the southern UK this Winter but it would be nice
@@WiltshireManThis winter has been a strange winter here in Niagara, today we’ve had blue sky and sunshine and we’ve got NO SNOW on the ground. February and March to get through yet though, who knows what ‘Old Man Winter’ will throw at us 😄😄
Nice to see back on your bike again sandy your new tent looked very good shame about the spark holes things do happen long as you were warm that is the main thing stay safe and safe warm weather not good at moment for camping long you enjoy the weather that all that matters blessed be

Looks like a good hot tent Sandy the flue definitely needs to be taller the stew looked bloody lovely compared to mine in my next video 😂😂 I've just received a new hot tent and stove so looking forward to getting out and testing it have a great weekend mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Lovely to see the wildlife you caught, rabbit, fox and squirrel Sandy and the night time sky scenes I especially love those. Sorry about the burn holes in the tent.
Excellent video Sandy and what a superb tent, though its a pity about the burn holes. A bit muddy but a good pitch. I loved the wildlife videos. Well done on carrying all the kit on the bike. Many thanks and best wishes.
When you showed the first shot of the stove going, the flue was the up wind side of the tent but then the wind looked as if it changed, maybe the damage was done initially! Experienced the same problem myself last week, five holes!! Tenacious tape did the repair trick. Thanks for another great video👍
Nice sandy about your car dpf filter are van is the we only do short trips in it and a lot of stop starting so when the light comes on we just give it a run up the bypass about 60 miles a hour until the light goes out about 20 -30 minutes seems to work for us 👍
Thanks for another inspirational video - I'm thinking if you can carry all that gear - I can give it a try sometime too (once I can afford a Hot Tent!)
A lovely relaxing video for me, I do enjoy your videos like I have said before I couldn't do it myself but I dream through your videos. Sorry you have a few problems with the wood and the chimney causing holes in your tent, a lovely tent though and with the lamps on it looked extremely cosy. Thank you for another relaxing half an hour.
Always good to get a new video from you - I know it will be just a little bit interesting, a little bit different. Thank you for taking us along with you on this camp. Stew looked scrummy … 🥘
That supper looked largely delicious you do have a healthy apetite, the tent looks well made and practical, great for a night out with friends. I use a metal mozzy mesh on my chimney, that stops the embers from escapeing and becoming a hazard, cheers!!
It didn't look like you struggled to scoff all that grub mate😂. Looks like a cracking big tent Sandy, I have something similar, not quite that big but with plenty of room. heavy mind you, made from thick material. Great to share a night out with you again me old mucker. The ground did look a bit soggy, but rise above and overcome, well done Sandy. Another excellent video bud, keep up the entertain work. regards to one and all in the house of the Wiltshire Man. Big thumbs up, Moose.
Ever consider a bicycle trailer? I have a pet trailer that I also use for hauling larger camping gear on bike trips. Also great for hauling groceries and goods. The cat enjoys it as well🤣
Another great video Sandy! I do think you go out on these camp outs so you can indulge yourself in those great meals you cook up. that stew was superb! But with the size of it I'm amazed you could even walk after eating all that!. but I"m sure the bike ride home worked off all that extra calorie intake. thanks for sharing. well done! de Ellis WA1RKS
At 3.3Kg it sounds really light. The ribbons are a great idea. "Enough beef for one" That's about 4 portions, for me 😂 Large enough to bring your bike in ? It looked exposed to scrotes outside, with those red panniers.
One of your best videos yet Sandy. Really enjoyed every minute to the very end. That tent though you are making excuses for, if an ember can burn a hole then it’s not so good… keep these super videos coming. Cheers.
Thanks Martyn Well there are lots of hot tents on the market these days made of nylon/ plastic and all are susceptible to ember burn holes, infact I have even seen some cotton canvas tents in videos from campers in Canada and even these have war wounds but only after many years!
You can't beat these tents.. I have the Pomoly bromance70, 6 man. I've always assumed that thing on the top of the pole is a lantern hook. I used the wire mesh from a bird feeder to insert into the fire arrester, it staps the larger embers a treat... So far anyway.
A tentipi also has snow flaps, which are tucked inside the tent & pegged down when not in use, but it does also have air intake vets at the base for the stove. The groundsheet overlaps the flaps.
Loved the foxy on the trail camera ♥️♥️♥️🦊🦊🦊 not convinced with the tent at all sandy. Your bison tundra rules the roost I feel but each to their own I guess. Hope your all well your end loved the spoon I was laughing as it was more like a paddle than a spoon but we improvise adapt and overcome and soldier on. Good job sandy 🫡👍♥️☺️
Hi Marcus, I would never have been able to get the Bison Tundra in on a push bike, just too heavy, but if you want a real authentic camping experience it has to be Canvas. Next wild camp I shall be under Canvas. The Fox was in good shape, he was a country fox, they are always healthier than town foxes, just hope he can dodge the gamekeepers bullets
I have never been a fan of plastic (of any type) tents designed for a stove in them. Trouble is cotton tents of that size weigh a ton! Have you thought of a trailer for your bike so it might be easier to carry stuff?
Great video as usual Sandy 👍😁 My attitude to tents…. A Buyers guide… A 1 man tent = a glorified bivvy bag [you can’t move without rubbing on the inside and getting soaked from condensation running down the walls] A 2 man tent = sleeps I and also has room to manoeuvre inside and store your kit. A 3 man tent = sleeps 2 and can probably sit up inside it, [luxury for 1 man] A 4 man tent = sleeps 3 at the most and maybe able to actually stand up inside it. [luxury for 2] 😂😂😂
Great camp, everything lugged on the bike, well done! I had to laugh at all that veg, enough to feed a horse lol! One tip, I reckon if you fry & brown you onion, the flavour is better, or at least I think it is. Pity about the melt holes, maybe carry some gaffa tape, duck tape whatever its called, good for no end of temporary repairs. Sorry about your car, that's the trouble with diesel. My old chum used to say if you want a diesel buy a tractor lol, so I stick to petrol, all my cars being 3rd or 4th hands but have kept me on the road for years. All the best ,God bless & keep you!
A mature approach to getting into a tent. To walk in well thats luxurious. Pity about the embers and the holes that followed, that would have put me on a real downer. Hate mud, really hate mud so credit to you Sandy. For the size of a 4 man tent its pretty small enough to carry. Nice one.
Hi Sandy, looks a decent tent, the bracket on the the pole may be for hanging a light? Try taking your car for a good run while keeping the revs high to get the engine temp up, hopefully the DPF should regenerate.
Nice one Sandy.... Really appreciate the effort and professionalism that goes in to your filming. Here's a thought though, perhaps you could raise the stove 6"? KTF🙏
Raising the stove a bit may have helped Marty but a longer stove pipe is the answer. My smaller onetigris hot tent made from the same material hasn't had a single burn hole in 2 years. Just because the stove pipe is that much further away from the tent. I shall have to find some fabric and fix the holes:)
I'm hoping to go to the Dragon rally Pete, not sure I'll be taking the hot tent though, not easy to carry wood on a motorbike and needs a taller chimney :)
Love your video Sandy. Thanks for the footage very interesting, wildlife etc. looking forward to your next adventure. God Bless my friend 🙏🏻 subscribed 🙏🏻
That forked stick for the lanterns is a clever idea, [without puncturing your ground tarp and with the length of the ‘Y’ branches you could tie it to the center pole with room for the lanterns to hang either side.
It is really annoying when you get spark damage. I used Stormsure Aquatite on the toaty holes as really flexible/ clear and cut a piece of the strap to make a small patch in same material to cover a larger hole. Aquatite stuck it down well. Same thing my flue was not long enough and I used a piece of dried scrap from B&Q! It hissed and spat in the stove, so my own fault. I believe they say the spark arrestor should be at least a meter above the apex. I had 2'6" so thought it would be ok! Its great being able to walk in and move about. You did brilliant getting that all on the bike ❤
Nice setup Sandy. Bummer on the spark holes. Hoping for some whether I can get out in the woods here. It has been rain, wind and cold. If all goes right I will see the sun tomorrow. Hope you have some nice weather coming to make your outdoor fun more enjoyable too.
Great vid Sandy! Bit of tenacious tape for those holes maybe? .. did you find out what that loop on the pole was for? I imagined for a lamp or hanging damp clothes or something onto? .. re the chimney height, I saw a bushcrafter with similar tent, and a hammock hot tent, and he precariously balanced his whole stove ontop of a camping table, now i see why.
Nice looking tent Sandy You can get a doodar that hooks onto your centre pole for hanging the lanterns on, dead easy to copy I found some extra 2mm stainless mesh in the top of the pipe before the spark arrestor helped when burning softwood. Nylon and flying embers just don't mix very well, if you can burn hardwood you're laughing
So nice to be out again Sandy to enjoy the videos again on a winter’s evening, very interesting new tent , Where did you get your lamp shade from Sandy please.
Hi Sandy, thanks for filming this. I dont think I will ever use a hot tent but have done a spot of cyclo camping so may give it a go. I like your straightforward approach, you never let a problem overcome you and I dont think Ive ever heard you complain. Keep em coming and once again, thank you!
Hi Sandy. I noticed straight away and was surprised when you pitched the tent with the door pretty much facing into the wind. Had the door been facing the woods the embers will have been blown away from the tent rather than over it. Mind you, the whole idea of the wood burner and lanters in a tent freaks me out 😮. Lovely video as usual.
You are right Michael, I was thinking the wind was going to change and come from the West the it would have been OK but it didn't til later in the night
@@WiltshireMan On that you can rely. 🙂 Glad to see you did the sensible thing, Sandy, and prepped your veggies at home. Saves a lot of fannying about at camp. With age comes wisdom! All the best, mate.
that's a real nice tent, Sandy. as far as it not being the same quality as a hilleberg, well , personally, I can't imagine those tents being worth the price they want for them. no small tent is worth 800 or 900 dollars, there is just no way. Dwayne
@WiltshireMan ok my mistake, but I've heard guys on there mention that name and talk about tents that were 800 and more. what tents were they referring to , I really don't want to have the wrong facts when I say something. your friend Paul was one of them that mentioned ultra light tents in that price range. I don't want to sound like an idiot by talking stupid shit
@WiltshireMan Sandy I have a picture I would like to send you and it will answer the question of why I thought hilleberg tents cost 900 dollars. it's an ad from a archery and outdoor shop here in the states and the advertised tent was a hilleberg soulo for 925.00
That actually looked and performed like a pretty well made and well thought out tent Sandy. It is a pity that the embers burned some holes in the material but it is repairable and as you said maybe some taller chimney in the future might reduce that tendency. I think that the tent deserves some consideration from anyone looking for an option for camping in a hot tent. If you forget your eating utensils enough times in the future, you will eventually become a master carver (like your friend Dino) lol. It did the job though, the food was successfully transported from the pan to your mouth without any major incidents. Thanks for sharing that fantastic camping adventure with us, I will see you on the next one.
I’ve had the same issue with burning holes in my lavvuu, though in my case I had no spark arrestor, and pipe was way short, so I’ve aquired longer pipe and a spark arrestor, hope this helps me, not to burn holes. Oh I forgot to say, I’ve also sprayed in a mixture of water borax and boric acid, ya, coated the lavvuu with that, it’s supposed to be a fire retardant.
Boric acid should have that effect, I have used it to coat knife blades during heat treatment, the trouble is if it gets hot it will turn into a brown/ black solid mess and be difficult to remove
If you had a Lavuu that size, it wouldn't succumb to hot embers, but it would probably weigh around 10kg ! 🥘 Good to see you out on another camp cooking up something tasty.
I've got a Bison Tundra Steve, similar size, maybe perhaps just a bit bigger but a heck of a lot heavier, there's no way I could get it into camp on a push bike
You do get sent some 'stuff', all very nice. I never get anything, but have always tried to keep my channel nice and small. It was quite funny seeing you with all that space...
Hahaa Bry, I have another Ebike here, it arrived yesterday, this one is a keeper for me. Got to make a video about it. I have earned more the value of products sent to me than what YT pays but I have also turned down a lot of stuff that I thought wasn't good.
Really nice tent and a lot of space! I see that someone needs another spoon to go along with their Chess Set! BTW, I am waiting on Black Walnut to arrive for the dark side. Loved the time lapse. Stay safe and healthy!!
Funny , just finished watching The Outdoor Gear Review testing a NatureHike teepee hot tent , this one is square though , you both got me thinking though :) Great video as always ...Thanks :)
Looks like a great tent. I wonder what height of chimney you would need. Do you think a 3 meter one would be ok? Pomoly do a folding one in titanium that is 3 meters.
Thanks for the video. I weighed my Lavvu last week and it is 3.5 kg, the same as your tent. Obviously smaller but spark proof. Did you find out what the clip on the pole was for ? 👍
I haven't managed to work out how the clip works. My Polish Lavu is heavier than yours because I have sewed a skirt all around the base making it taller, this gives a lot more room. Hope to use it on my next camp soon
Cool jobs those hot tents but i coudnt manage carry one can you do a bushcrafty gear loadout for those getting on and less abled like myself ive wasted so much money now 😢buying gear thinking im 21😂😂just wish id taken this up as youngster when was more able great hobby outdoors is natures free anti deppressant pills etc

I think the top section pole should be turned round so the attachment hangs down but protrudes at 90° thereby creating a lamp hanger?

You can get a doodar that hooks onto your centre pole for hanging the lanterns on, dead easy to copy
I found some extra 2mm stainless mesh in the top of the pipe before the spark arrestor helped when burning softwood.
Nylon and flying embers just don't mix very well, if you can burn hardwood you're laughing
Yes I'm sure the ember was from the soft wood Shewie
So nice to be out again Sandy to enjoy the videos again on a winter’s evening, very interesting new tent , Where did you get your lamp shade from Sandy please.
Hi Chris, I got mine from Amazon

@@WiltshireMan Many thanks Sandy
Hi Sandy, thanks for filming this. I dont think I will ever use a hot tent but have done a spot of cyclo camping so may give it a go. I like your straightforward approach, you never let a problem overcome you and I dont think Ive ever heard you complain. Keep em coming and once again, thank you!
Thanks Phil, I try to stay upbeat as much as I can:)
Shame about the burns. But like you said, you should be able to patch it. Relaxing vid as always. Cheers Sandy.
Thanks Rob, I shall use a taller chimney next time for sure
Another culinary masterpiece, Sandy. I propose you call it "Beef in a bucket."
That lot would feed me for three or four days.
Hahaaaa Good ol Sarky says it as it is :)
@@WiltshireMan On that you can rely. 🙂
Glad to see you did the sensible thing, Sandy, and prepped your veggies at home. Saves a lot of fannying about at camp. With age comes wisdom!
All the best, mate.
I enjoyed your experience. How tall is your Chimney?
that's a real nice tent, Sandy. as far as it not being the same quality as a hilleberg, well , personally, I can't imagine those tents being worth the price they want for them. no small tent is worth 800 or 900 dollars, there is just no way.
Dwayne
Dwayne they cost $269 not $900
@WiltshireMan ok my mistake, but I've heard guys on there mention that name and talk about tents that were 800 and more. what tents were they referring to , I really don't want to have the wrong facts when I say something. your friend Paul was one of them that mentioned ultra light tents in that price range. I don't want to sound like an idiot by talking stupid shit
@WiltshireMan Sandy I have a picture I would like to send you and it will answer the question of why I thought hilleberg tents cost 900 dollars. it's an ad from a archery and outdoor shop here in the states and the advertised tent was a hilleberg soulo for 925.00
Capturing the camping spirit marvelous as always, great footage thanks so much
Good to see you out sandy stew looked tasty
Great camp Sandy, you must of been hungry to finish off your yummy stew.
That was my first food of the day Keri, I mostly only eat once a day
Brilliant again bud 👏
I like that, better than my OneTigris tipi, shame about the holes but they shouldn't be too hard to fix.
Thank😊 you for taking us with you. How can you resolve the issue of spark arrester?
Hahaa, yes Dan, My dogs chewed the last spoon, I was heart broken:( .....:)
Funny , just finished watching The Outdoor Gear Review testing a NatureHike teepee hot tent , this one is square though , you both got me thinking though :) Great video as always ...Thanks :)
Honestly did you whittle that utensil that night
Hahaa yes, I whittled it when I realised I forgot to pack cutlery and almost as the food was cooked, just took 5 minutes
Looks like a great tent. I wonder what height of chimney you would need. Do you think a 3 meter one would be ok? Pomoly do a folding one in titanium that is 3 meters.
I reckon 3 meters should be OK Neil, I could also raise the stove off the ground a bit too
Ever thought of bike trailer to carry your kit ?
Nice vid thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video. I weighed my Lavvu last week and it is 3.5 kg, the same as your tent. Obviously smaller but spark proof. Did you find out what the clip on the pole was for ? 👍
I haven't managed to work out how the clip works.
My Polish Lavu is heavier than yours because I have sewed a skirt all around the base making it taller, this gives a lot more room. Hope to use it on my next camp soon
Excellent again the way you utilise etc you like you meat Hi Great tent many thanks again Trig
