Everyone on this recording, those who arranged, sang, played, produced, mixed, and filmed it are absolutely superb. The Mamas and Papas would surely smile on this. It is a gem, a gift for the ages.

OUTSTANDING JOB young people !!! Never heard a better cover to this SUPER CLASSIC, ALL time MASTERPIECE by the Mamas and Papas. May the Lord BLESS every one of you
Just such a superb piece of work, as are SO many here. My only wish is that you guys would remix this to bring up the truly superb bass line that kid is running. It takes a very good set of headphones to appreciate her talent here. Give her her due.

The SCHOOL is amazing! I knew Rock would be nornalized and taught in schools, and it is a GOOD THING. Jazz and even Bach were once considered "mind-corrupting hippie stuff" by the former generations! Time to keep going forward!
I’m 66 so I’m old enough to have heard this song as it was originally performed. I’m totally impressed with this tribute. I always look forward to videos from The School of Rock. You always feature such amazing talents and this video is no exception.
Voice of an Angel!! Much Respect for the way they put their own spin on these songs, but still keep so close to the way they were originally recorded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just when you think nothing can touch the original song, you hear a masterpiece like this one. I am beyond impressed with how good this song is. You have done the Mama & the Papas proud.
You haven't gushed enough. Listen and watch another 200 times and then renew your comments ! When you think about it that is the original location it was recorded by the M's & P's in 1964. Dec I think it was. It was first recorded by Barry McGuire. Now this. This is truly a timeless classic that inspires awe !
The first time I heard this live was in a pub down by the Blackwall lane gasworks, long before the 02 arena was built. It encouraged me to seek out live music for which I will always be grateful.
I've listened to this song over and over. This song is my fave to listen on youtube right now. They put this together so well. Vocals, drums, keys and guitars are awesome.... love it love it...
I am 51 years old watching this... So wonderful to be able to listen and learn from children. I have heard this song a thousand times and thought is was just ok. This cover version is on a different level. Very talented and passionate people here performing. I hope they go on doing what they do so well in the future.
I’m exactly your age. I have great faith in the future generations. I truly believe they will undo a lot of the harm done by previous generations. It seems that’s just what future generations are really good at. Oh and I agree, this version is fantastic!
At 56 The original version of this song is on my top playlist. Awesome cover by his group-real talent. I know everyone’s a critic but my only comment would be there was something off with the synth part. Far from the original flute- but maybe that’s what they were going for.
You mean the version from Barry McGuire? Or the version from The Mama's & The Papa's. Because Barry's was the first recorded version of the song... (written by the papa's tho). Personally i like The Mama's & The Papa's version the most, after that the version from Barry McGuire. After those two i prefer the version from Melanie and the version from Scala & Kolacny Brothers. All are better than this one...
Brilliant, watch these lovely girls and boys every week since they started. The bassist is beautiful and plays very well and nice to she move’s around. The singers are fantastic, give the drummer a plug he’s very good as is the key board player.
This song was released in 1965. It's so gratifying to see such young singers and players passionately connect with music that their grandparents grew up listening to.
Yeah, it came on the radio about the same time as "Along Comes Mary" by the Association and, if I remember right, "Summer in the City" by the Lovin' Spoonful.

(Lettice Rowbotham) of yours and another one on top of that (Malread Nesbit) made me like a type of music that I appreciated slightly but did not necessarily like a lot. Lettice's and Celtic Woman's music really opened my eyes to what beautiful women could do with music and how they could twist my mind and make me like their music. Talk about beauties. Lettice and Malread are incredibly beautiful women, quite spellbinding in fact. They are not just quite spellbinding, they are extremely enchanting, very bewitching ladies. It's almost hard to believe that these are teenage students. They sound more polished and professional than many professionals. The vocals are thrilling, the keyboards and guitars brilliant, and the drummer drives the song with impeccable timing and skill. And the "traveling" bassist is such a joy to watch. Besides laying down perfect rhythm in total synch with the drummer, she clearly is having the time of her life. Whether these kids choose music as a career or just a hobby, they have the goods to go far. Cheers!
great insightful comment. A shame the instrumental bridge was not as in the original, a real wind instrument. There is hope for the youth of this world in the arts. P.S. I call Kamryn, the bassist, a " boogie bass player ".

Amazing voice very unique

Funny you say that, I can't get enough of it and listen to it over n over
I've watched this video maybe 50-60 times now. I keep coming back to it when I want to just chill and get lost in it. It is that good. Everyone on this recording, those who arranged, sang, played, produced, mixed, and filmed it are absolutely superb. The Mamas and Papas would surely smile on this. It is a gem, a gift for the ages.

Well said. Totally agree.

OUTSTANDING JOB young people !!! Never heard a better cover to this SUPER CLASSIC, ALL time MASTERPIECE by the Mamas and Papas. May the Lord BLESS every one of you
The lead singer has class & character and a phenomenal voice..... stay with it kid

Everyone loves this song. They loved it in the 1960s and still love it 60 years later
Lead singers voice is smokey and heart felt. I love this cover....

Just such a superb piece of work, as are SO many here. My only wish is that you guys would remix this to bring up the truly superb bass line that kid is running. It takes a very good set of headphones to appreciate her talent here. Give her her due.
The lead vocalist has such a mesmerizing voice, she absolutely nailed this one. The band is spot on, the background vocals make the song...nice job
I've watched this like 20 times! One of my personal favorite 60's songs. They did a superb job. Her voice is awesome and the back up vocals and the band were excellent!!!

They really need to make it the official California State anthem.

A LITTLE LOVE FOR THE THREE BACK UP SINGERS
Whole lotta love (no pun intended) because without their smmooth harmony it doesn't work. KDM
They were awesome, nailed the harmony of the original. The lead singer not so much.
absolutely
@@Gamble661 I really enjoyed the lead singer's voice on this take. Added a more melancholy grove to the song. Seemed right-on for me.

Of all the videos I've watched of School of Rock students, this is far and away the best.
Yes, couldn't agree more
Agreed!
That band is amazing. They need to get back together. The lead singer has an amazing voice.
The SCHOOL is amazing! I knew Rock would be nornalized and taught in schools, and it is a GOOD THING. Jazz and even Bach were once considered "mind-corrupting hippie stuff" by the former generations! Time to keep going forward!
Love how this generation embraces the golden oldies, great talent and appreciation for the classic tunes
Well if they want to perform actual music, they MUST embrace the golden oldies.
You have done the Mama & the Papas proud.
agreed
Yeah, I really liked the lead singer's interpretation.
I won’t mention any specifics. But these kids have made me like songs I’ve always hated before. That impresses me.
No not really....they buried the Mama & the Papas who were the biggest of fools who sold it all.
The first time I heard this live was in a pub down by the Blackwall lane gasworks, long before the 02 arena was built. It encouraged me to seek out live music for which I will always be grateful.

Better than the original version and this version was made by kids. The singer has a tantalizing voice that draws you into listening, listening close.

At 56 The original version of this song is on my top playlist. Awesome cover by his group-real talent.
I know everyone’s a critic but my only comment would be there was something off with the synth part. Far from the original flute- but maybe that’s what they were going for.
man, you`r a baby so young ha!
Good music doesn’t care about age
Probably the best version of this song since the original. These kids nailed it and are so enjoyable to watch. Sharing this with friends.
Exactly, perfect comment… lead vocalist is dynamite. Only thing they were missing was Cass and Michelle singing background.
These kids are great!
Amazing cover of a song over 50 years old . These kids did a great job .

Darn. What a fantastic rendition of this classic tune. The backing vocalists were absolutely pitch perfect. The main vocalist gave it a superb own touch and all musicians spot on.

Great song love the 60s
Yeah, music really is a time machine...
Cheers!
Remember, these are musicians. The rest are artists.
great insightful comment. A shame the instrumental bridge was not as in the original, a real wind instrument. There is hope for the youth of this world in the arts. P.S. I call Kamryn, the bassist, a " boogie bass player ".
