You could whip them up in a blender, add your other ingredients, freeze them in ice cube trays, put them all into a freezer bag, then just add the ice cubes to your glass of water. 😁
I do this and strain before making ice cubes… so good! Living traditions youtube channel just showed a cucumber limeade recipe and recently cucumber ice cubes. I have some in my fridge right now… yum!
I’m doing cucumber limeade by liquifying the cukes in the blender, straining that stuff and freezing the juice into cubes. Hopefully the cubes will take up less freezer space. Yum.
Thank you for another great idea!! I love cucumber lime water, so I'm sure I would like this as well! I have pickled enough cukes this year so I will put some up like this.
Looks like it will freeze into a big solid mass. I would freeze then individually on a tray before bagging them up. Then, I might have a fighting chance of removing them one or two at a time.
I was just thinking the same thing. I spread on a cooking sheet, flash freeze then pop them into a freezer bag. Do that with so many things that are watery, like Zucchini's as well.
Those large cucumbers are Perfect for cinnamon cucumbers. If you ever tried it do so . The way I remember doing them was slice them just like the pickles, then ring the seeds out . And then you make a cinnamon mixture to add to the pickles. I need to find my recipe so this year I can make them. The original Red Hots cinnamon flavor candy is what I used. Dollar store, Walmart they both carry them .
My daughter puts a couple cucumber spears, lemon slice or lime slice and couple mint leaves in sandwich snack bags. Then fill a freezer bag up with them.
Wow! I would not have thought of doing this with cucumber. Great info. and I thank you! Some great info. in this comments section, too. This is such a great show. I just love it!
Then once you drink the water all the gloop left behind if your drinking from one of the blender cups, dump the gloop in the scrap bucket and the live stock gets a treat and nutrition boost come winter.
I have frozen cucumbers before. I'd recommend slicing them and laying them individually on a cookie sheet like you would for berries. They will freeze individually & you scrape them off the sheet and into the ziplock bags. Otherwise, the high water content will make them freeze into clumps and you'll have to break off chunks.
LOL with Love and fond memories, 5:24 "un-thaws" and again at 6:05 is really "to freeze" ... I use to have such a laugh when my bestest half ever and soul mate would say that, and I would say "then you gonna freeze it?"
Very smart idea! Here it is the middle of August and I still haven't gotten one cuke...they've bloomed like crazy all summer but nothing but male flowers.
I read this actually last night! I am totally doing it! How are you getting your lemon tree to fruit I want mine to so bad! You are the sweetest soul I love watching you!❤️
First-time watcher here...she does have the sweetest soul....a pleasure to learn from. Our lemon tree is fruiting and blooming too...so I'll take the fruit off so the blooms can have a chance...learned so much in one little video. Very smart woman and sharing her talents...gotta love her : ).
My brother gave me some frozen cucumbers last year ,to me they ended up mushy, now a lemon ,cucumber drink sounds good . I am dehydrating cherry tomatoes right now . I will also be canning some apple butter later today for the first time . I am surprised I like canning so much since I am new to it all. Thank you for all you do to teach us 😀
My dreams are y'all lifestyle. I grew up in the south but when we came to Chicago I had to adapt here. Yet I remember riding horses, farms, ranches, 🦚, bayou, fishing. I'm ready to get back to my roots
You can lay them on a lined cookie sheet, and freeze. Then bag them up. This way, they will be seperate, and you can just grab what you need and reseal the bag. It's a great idea!
I had no idea cucumbers could be frozen until I watched you and Sarah from Living Traditions homestead. I love cucumber and lemon water. I'm not a big fan of mint either. Sarah made a cucumber Limeade. Maybe you can also make cucumber lemonade too. That would be so refreshing in the winter as well.
You can freeze round slices of cucs, to use as eye pads for help with puffy eyes. The cold and the nutrients de- puff the eyes. Just be sure to let the slices thaw a bit before placing it on your skin.
You are just Precious!! I love watching you, you have taught me so munch, so THANK YOU!! Now, that Tomato, I haven’t seen tomatoes 🍅 that big and beautiful since my Grandpa was alive and could still keep a garden, if it tastes as good as it looks, what a treat!!! Now, I LOVE Cucumber infused water also, and I just read that putting lemon in your water, is super good for you, but especially if you have EDEMA, which I have just been diagnosed with, and that you should drink lemon water every day, all day. Now I know exactly how I’m going to do it using frozen cucumber!! Thank you for the idea!!!! Could you demonstrate making it, with the proper measurements?? Ty!!
Patera over at appalachia's homestead, has been warning us all also to get busy real busy, preservation is our most important chores rite now, I watching how to can , I bought a waterbath canner and I'm saving up for a pressure canner.....thank you for keeping us on course..
It never occurred to me to freeze them; now I know what to do with those sneaky cukes that hide during their harvest-time. Thank you for your great idea!ll
That's a great idea to freeze those cucumbers for water. I wonder if the cucumbers will stick together when they freeze. Maybe dropping the bag on the floor and they'll break apart. But I was thinking that maybe you could freeze the cucumbers on a tray individually and then pack them into a bag. Just a thought.
Oh I appreciate that information so much. I am usually blessed with lots of cucumbers. I can them mostly but I’ve lost a lot too because I couldn’t keep up. I hate to waste food especially what I grow in my garden. Makes me feel guilty. Anyway so thankful you shared this information. Again, Thank you so much!
Cousin! This is divine intervention for sure. We were just about to juice these cucumbers. Now, I will freeze half of them. Well 1/4 of them. We were going to pull up the purple hull peas, cukes and tomatoes. To our amazement everything is still going strong. The determinate tomatoes, are even blooming again and with tiny tomatoes. I was told they were finished. Well mines are behaving just like my other tomatoes. I'm putting my cukes on a cookie sheet. That's an excellent idea. Thanks for sharing 😊.
Hi Mrs. H, In case you never heard of it there is a recipe in our family (and probably millions of others) for over ripe seedy yellow cucumbers called Amber Pickles. After peeling, seeding, and cubing, you wind up with beautiful shrimp colored pickles that are unique and very tasty. We have friends who ask for them every year and we very often have to go out and look for over ripe seedy yellow cucumbers just to make the recipe. Here are two similar recipes that I found on the internet to share with you for next year.
Have you ever made cinnamon pickles? Paula dean has a recipe for making cinnamon pickles. It takes3 days to do them and it takes soaking in line overnight. But the cucumbers that size are what you use because you seed them. You can also make the same kind of pickles with water mellon rind.
I was just talkin' on Facebook how I was going to make a concentrate out of my excess cucumbers and freeze it. It's called cucumber limeade from Living Traditions Homestead recipe. This is such a great video, thank you so much for sharing! Blessings!
Cucumber water is my daughter's favorite drink. I live cucumbers so much. I just love to eat them. My cucumbers did not do well thus year so disappointing to have to buy them. C6+ weeks of 100°+ weather, hard in the garden in a very dry place, Treasure Valley Idaho 2600' elevation. Winter comes fast here in 6b. Blessings, julie
I juice my cucumbers versus adding them to h2o, the fruits themselves have the highest quality water - Living Water- great for whatever ails the body. Great idea to freeze them
I’m about to freeze a bunch of bell peppers. 🥰 Lay them out individually on some wax paper, freeze for about an hour..seal them in a “food right” baggie...and return to freezer. ❤️
Good idea! I'm working on getting down to one small freezer of food, so I'm going to continue to dehydrate ours. Dehydrated they take up so much less room. I use them as infuses and I also powder them and add to broths for soups and casseroles, for the nutrient value.
@@SaraPurvey yes or broth depending on how you are using. them. I like adding to a cool drink and someone mentioned making ice cubes, so totally trying that for a cold summer drink of infused herbs, flowers and fruits.
I do that with our cukes also, but I freeze them on a tray first and then put them in a bag… this way they aren’t stuck together and I can pull out one at a time… love your videos!! Keep doing you…👍🥰❤️
We grew some huge delicious tomatoes last year but this year they aren't doing as well, I guess they don't like to be in containers. I do enjoy the variety and I'll try to put them in-ground next year like I did last year.
Saw another idea where Sarah from Living traditions blend the cucumbers with some water, strained and froze in ice cube trays and saved for water, lemon, lime ade.
Love this idea and will definitely do it! Also I’ve cook/fried excess cucumbers (remove seeds) with bacon onion & garlic and it was great. Similar to zucchini that have stewed up. Or bread and fry? Yum! Can’t stand to throw them away! You’re always an inspiration!
I never thought of doing this!💡 I love cucumber water, and there just may be a few cucumber mojitos😉 made this winter too! I can’t wait too see how you preserve your mint! Thank you so much for sharing this.
You could whip them up in a blender, add your other ingredients, freeze them in ice cube trays, put them all into a freezer bag, then just add the ice cubes to your glass of water. 😁
that's exactly what I was thinking. will save more space in your freezer that way too.

Or you can chop a few out as you need them so don't stress. 8-) I hope it works for you.
Great strategy
I was just thinking the same thing. I spread on a cooking sheet, flash freeze then pop them into a freezer bag. Do that with so many things that are watery, like Zucchini's as well.
I do my home made french fries on a tray first. It works real well.
Good idea. Spread them on a parchment paper covered baking sheet.
This is the video I was looking for. I discovered cucumber water this summer and love it. The season is over and no cucumbers. Thank you
Wish you were my neighbors!
