I have been with my boyfriend for 7 years this year and he has never given me a reason as to why he loves me. So many of us for so many years have received conditional love from people (parents, siblings, friends, acquaintances, church members, co-workers) that this concept of true unconditional love is a foreign concept. I believe that everyone does love without a reason naturally. But the severed or misaligned relationship we have with ourselves in connection with how we see and feel about ourselves imparts distorted filters to that love. For example, if a person is afraid or disturbed about something, like being alone, single, or on their own, that creates a filtered reason for being with someone. Or say, a person believes in having a sex life; that creates a filtered reason for being with someone. There’s a plethora of filters in people present that blocks true love and joy from flowing. If the filters are recognized and removed then people can love freely without hindrance. Which comes down to people taking a good honest look at themselves. Which many are not up to doing because they have not yet reached such a state of maturity. So you got the right idea with asking someone why they love you. That can be helpful, though is not foolproof. There are better ways to tell if someone truly love you and want to be with you.

I believe that everyone does love without a reason naturally. But the severed or misaligned relationship we have with ourselves in connection with how we see and feel about ourselves imparts distorted filters to that love. For example, if a person is afraid or disturbed about something, like being alone, single, or on their own, that creates a filtered reason for being with someone. Or say, a person believes in having a sex life; that creates a filtered reason for being with someone. There’s a plethora of filters in people present that blocks true love and joy from flowing.
If the filters are recognized and removed then people can love freely without hindrance. Which comes down to people taking a good honest look at themselves. Which many are not up to doing because they have not yet reached such a state of maturity. So you got the right idea with asking someone why they love you. That can be helpful, though is not foolproof. There are better ways to tell if someone truly love you and want to be with you.
