None. The do-it-all almost-aero models have it covered, even pro riders who don’t have to buy their own bikes know the difference isn’t worth worrying about. Ride quality, comfort and sensible geometry etc outweigh the aero marketing guff every time unless you’re in a real race and competing for the win.
Hahaha seriously. Although the whole decreasing sku stuff to decrease amount of debt they had and employees makes me think even if they wanted to go that route, they may not for a while.
3x Colnago owner here (and SL7), and I want to get a little chub when I see my bike. That makes me motivated! The new Colnago is a jump into an ice cold pool.
I do everything with my Scott Foil and it's a Aero bike very fast 😊. Before i have a Specialized Aethos for climbing it's great it's confortable but it's not fast it's boring 😮 So history repeat itself we return to Aero bike . A road bike it's made to go fast and i don't care to much of the look anyway you don't see your bike when you ride it 😅
Good to see variety and choices. I'd be surprised if either lightweight or aero made any noticeable difference for me with my lack of flexibility and heft. But if it gets someone out having a good time and they like the look, more power to them
As someone who has ridden a few aero bikes (oltre, s5 and foil) i can relate to people wanting the aero machine but anything over 2h on those rigs felt like shit. I think there is a market for both.
They could merge endurance/climbing or endurance/aero as categories as you can still get super aero on a more upright geometry aerobike no problem at all.
I have to disagree. The bike industry is in a down turn right now and inflation is still high so most people won't be upgrading from their new purchases. I think Trek would have been happy to keep both lines but in order to stay profitable they had to do something and cutting the Emonda was the first step. If we were in the better financial times I would say definitely go for it! Adding more cost to a company in an industry that is experiencing a major financial downturn is not a good move.
Do it all bikes seem like the sweet spot for consumers. For pros on the other hand it makes sense to have an all aero and climbing bike. Ultimate solution for customers would be to offer all three, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen with the current market/ inflation
so what Grant does not seem to state when they test in the tunnel with a rider the diff between all around bikes and extreme aero is 4 watts at most. see cyclingnews test.
Those super expensive bikes are for the pros and for people with deep pockets...period. The team give them all the bikes for what they need; stages...flats, mountain and TT. So, they don't really care about do it all bikes. They just need the bike to master that specific stage. For the 99.9 of us the immortals a bike that can do it all is a great option. Great video, happy🎄holidays and greetings from 🇵🇷PR.
The Elves Falath Evo leading the charge. Traditionalists will hate this bike but I think the new bike is beautiful. I'll only consider what the Traditionalists have to say if they roll up to the cafe on a steel fixed gear bike.
Seems like you need a do it all bike, because of the weight limit. You can do pretty aerodynamic bike at around 7kg. But you can do an insane aerodynamic bike around 8kg. So maybe the future is aerolightweight and super aerobike.
For where is live I probably should buy an aero steed. But considering the bike makes up 5-10% of the frontal area I prefer to buy a do it all bike and buy an infinitely cheaper skin suit which would yield greater gains for me. For the pros every watt counts though.
Looks much better than the leaked images. However, looking down at the handlebar, it's like looking at a thong.... which makes it very hard to keep pedalling.
would love to see more aero bikes, but not the weird ass floating seat post stuff or proprietary y-stem & riser handlebars. keep it clean... like a 1st gen venge, keeping the deep section down tube, seat tube & seat post; and a standard stem & round spacers; but with SuperSixEvo style horizontal top tube; factor ostro vam style overlapping fork/head tube/downtube interface; dropped seat stays; a deep section head tube; d-shaped seat tube & seat post; atheos sized seat & chain stays; 34mm tire clearance; SL7 frameset weight; & Elite Drive Helix 68D style wheels That Van Rysel RCR-F looks killer.
I'm building up my old Schwinn Sidewinder as my ultimate aero gravel bike. Now I just need to lighten it up a skoosh from 13.8kg. I'm still looking for a carbon fiber or titanium quill stem, seatpost, and a 26" carbon wheelset.
Now we can finally get back to business, not interested in a bird boned bike. Big gears big aero surfaces. Part of the reason they hold speed better is inertia from the extra weight sooooo We eagerly await the RE-VENGE baby 👶🔥
The outright aero bike is very pretty but like thier exotic car counterparts aren't useful for the day to day or average user. The lightweight, kinda aero, all arounder is the way! Give me the Porsche, not the Pagani! The brands should have an aero bike for the top 0.001% of riders but for the rest of us...
looking at it from a customer perspective I think the do it all bike is the way to go. I mean if you spend 5k plus on a bicycle you would expect it to perform in all terrain right. Sure they can make aero bikes light but you have to pay at least 8 k for those high end versions. not affordable for 95% of cyclists
I could see this a mile away. ‘Do it all bikes’ won’t work if you have to keep making money. The Technology will get compliant and lighter. But you can’t keep making S79 Tarmacs and expect customers to feel ‘this is the bike’ no! Companies will cycle the same story of aero and endurance to keep the money wheel turning. Pun intended.
Futuristic/Aero bike will be so uncomfortable to ride. To low riding position hurt your back and very harsh no doubt despite the seatpost. Also one pot hole with the seatpost not tightened correctly will shoot straight through the frame!!!!
I don’t know why it took Colnago to get us back to aero bikes but this is not the first unique looking bike from the last few years but is certainly the worst looking of the S5/Madone/Seka/Pinarello x stay
Trek made a mistake when they changed the name of the new Emonda to the Gen 8 Madone. The Gen 7 Madone is just as fast as the Gen 8. Then there's the marketing bs behind the new water bottles. In sum, Trek made these changes to save money and that's it. But, youre right. Specialized will bring back the Venge as all the crit racers and lightning fast group rides want it. Case in point, most enthusiasts have more than one bike so the demand is there for a niche bike. I have a 2023 Emonda and a 2024 Gen 7 Madone. Two very different bikes, but its the best of both worlds. With exception of the Specialized SL8 there are very few bikes that can do it all. Which means there's a market for 1) climbing bikes and 2) aero race bikes. So when the industry gets out of this slump we'll see more niche bikes like the Venge begin to emerge in the marketplace.
@@thomashines8 The standard Émonda (carbon) is actually pretty heavy for a carbon bike. A Size 52 frameset weighs around 1.8 kg (painted frame, uncut steerer tube, rear derailleur hanger, headset assembly), about the weight of a first-generation Allez Sprint Disc (seatpost and thru-axles included in its weight).
As someone new to the sport and coming from triathlons, I think the “do-it-all” bikes look so bland. TT and tri bikes all have their unique flavors and approaches to the same thing - yet recent road bikes all look the exact same. I’m all for changing the narrative. I thing the new colnago looks like one of a kind, and that alone, would push me to get one (though price is another story)
That Gen 8 Madone just proves that there are always some morons around who will buy any old slop. And I am a 2020 Emonda SLR owner. Trek should have been put out of business for that Madone. But no, suckers gonna suck and buy the slop
I can't believe I'm hearing you say that bikes maybe only 10 years old have had their day. Time to buy a more modern bike. Modern is not better buddy. Modern bikes are far more likely to leave you stuck without a bike to ride until you can come up with a solution like buying a new bike. Batteries fail and what's going to happen when Shimano doesn't make the replacement battery you need. Look at the differences in the 9100 and the 9200. Disc brakes, noisy AF and some people have more problems than others when it comes to servicing the brakes. Look at the incompatibility of the drive trains. For decades you could mix up parts and easily fix your own rim brakes or tune your gearing. You could change up bars and stem to accommodate the changes in you fit as you get older. Modern bikes suck. So proprietary. There will never be a Vintage following for anything produced today like there was/is for bikes that were made 40 or 50 years ago. This is why I have a custom steel frame builder making me a lugged steel frame a mechanical groupset. My modern bike has me stranded right now because I'm waiting on a battery from the Shimano warranty department.
wtf is a do it all bicycle? Isn’t a “normal” bicycle supposed to be able to do it all? What’s a aero frame when you are sitting upright 90% of the time and can’t hold an elbow bent position with a straight back for your entire ride. What’s a lightweight climbing bike when your watt/kg is trash. Just get a frame that suits you, makes you comfortable and makes you feel happy to ride and abuse it who cares what the marketing or windtunnel testing or shills like David Arthur says.
You are I dare say in the exact situation where do it all's make perfect sense. For most terrain though a comfortable aerobike is maybe the best weapon for the road
What’s the one company you want to see bring an aero bike back??
Trek needs to bite the bullet and bring back the real Madone.
Specialized Revenge bring it back time to get the wallet out
@@bebopman5I agree

Trek needs to bring the Madone back, the Real Madone.
Systemsix update is long overdue
This bike has been discontinued
Trek: Wait, now the market is going to separate aero and climbing bikes?! Oh crap!
Hahaha seriously. Although the whole decreasing sku stuff to decrease amount of debt they had and employees makes me think even if they wanted to go that route, they may not for a while.
Aero bikes for the pros, "do it all" bikes for the people
That new Colnago is moving in the right direction
First bike I've thought about owning in a really long time
The new Abu Dhabi owner sure knows how to make good returns for its investment.
Rather just have 1 do it all bike tbh.
Bring back the Vengeeeeee 💪🏻
I'm holding onto mine still. Talk about test of time bike.
Waiting for an updated Cervélo S5 🤞

To be fair, 7.4kg aero bike is a do-it-all-bike
truth, but with those heavier larger tubes they wont accelerate the best up the mountains
I do everything with my Scott Foil and it's a Aero bike very fast 😊. Before i have a Specialized Aethos for climbing it's great it's confortable but it's not fast it's

Love that it was pointed out that its 7:15 the owners word. The gen 8 does not hold speed as well as gen 7. The fear of Jesse Cole 😊
The word is that the gen 9 will go back to full aero.
Do it all bikes ,is that even possible .Are endurance bike extint cause I dont here much about them on any channel!?? Great video with much details 👍

I'm waiting for the new SYSTEMSIX.
In the country I live you can currently buy an SL7 with Di2 for 2850$!Great deal!
I would love for Canyon to break their Aeroad mold and innovate!!
Feels like Colnago Y1RS is an outlier, but I welcome its new, futuristic design. If I’m to invest that much money on a bike, I’d want it be different.
I think that the Scott Foil is the best looking aero bike - but I hate the PF86 bottom bracket.
It's definitely the best looking current bike.

Get an 80mm carbon deep dish front wheel, trust me, skip the skin suit
I didn’t like the colnago at first glance but that world champs colour looks incredible.
FYI 20watts over v4rs,, which, as Chris Miller podcast said was a “dog of a bike“
I thought he said the bars along were 20 watts better
Personally where I live the madone gen 8 would be the perfect bike. Combination of climbing and flats
Man, the day Specialized releases a new Venge model is the day when you post a gazillion venge videos for a whole year straight! 😅

No. It's a cycle. The do it all bike will be back in 3 years 😂
Another bike that nobody will currently buy as they will be far too overpriced and over hyped
yes
Does GT get any credit for inspiring that design?
One of the big US companies needs to buy or license Simplon's Pride design. They're in bankruptcy, so they could use the cash.
TREKNAGO IT IS
I don't see the point of climbing bikes when we can get aero road bikes down to the UCI weight limit pretty easily.
Pain in the ass with fiting😂 true
Marketing people in TREK might get fired LOL
Scott is just a figure of our imagination. They’re never available at any dealers so they are irrelevant until then..
