Is this similar in construction to the 20 mm 2.8 D lens?
Hi, absolutely not. There is a nice tutorial on the net about the 20mm, I haven't done any yet. Cheers
@@diyextravaganza Hi, it's a good reference, thank you. Do you have the link for the 20mm 2.8 D lens?
@@centerforlatinamericanarts8548 hello, I don't, but it is easy to find. At least it was last time I checked about a year ago. Cheers.
how do you open the aperture section of a AF 24mm f/2.8 lens ? not the f/2.8D
Hi, the construction is the same, save for the connection at the back on the bayonet. Check this video here for a full disassembly of the 24mm f/2.8. You want to tackle it from the front. Cheers. th-cam.com/video/JBLKd8exBHE/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for replying to my question. Unlike the (D) series, the non D version doesn’t have the obvious retaining ring in front. Perhaps the front lens assembly unscrews itself using a silicone rubber friction cone?
The lens has performed well but appears to be cheaply made compared with other Nikkor products.
My guess is that it does screw from the from, as with the other lenses of this series. And yes, quality is below expectation. I have had a few mechanical issues with the 24mm specifically. Best

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. I found my rubber friction rings & managed to the front open. You were correct.
@@jatoav8or Excellent, great photos to you.
hi! what tweezers did you use to open the elements?
Hi, Metal ones, as used in electronics and watchmaking industries, size 1 I believe.
