Thank you! Your video helped me as a first timer and answered the question I had on the thin white skin still showing on the fillet. Very informative video.
Just found your vids. First one I've watched and LOVE IT. Better catch more fish if Uncle Richie's gonna be around! Thanks for the great video man. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Makes me want catfish!! Some people use flour, corn meal, and seasonings. I'd say try it with some Lawry's Seasoned Salt, pepper and maybe some cayenne for a spicy bite or a tiny bit of red pepper flakes. My buddy from Oklahoma bleeds em out by making a vertical slice on either side of the tail, which your method sounds like it works better. He said back in Oklahoma that if you didn't bleed em out, that they have a muddy taste. Definitely an enjoyable video. Was that at Lake Mead?? Sure looked like it may have been.
#SCO2020 Adrian out here showing everyone that social Distancing doesn't mean you have to stuck at home! You can never be bored with family, good friends&great food! The catfish here we're pushed out by the Tilapia & Strippers, so its getting rare to catch a catfish so my cleaning skill is getting rusty. P.S I still refer back to your catfishing cleaning video the one&if remember correctly only catfish cleaning video you made.
Rather than pulling the skin off and leaving the white skin, you should clean and fillet catfish just like a crappie. Flip fillet over so skin is down and run knife between meat and skin. I have done it this way for 20 years
That looked good man. I usually mix cornmeal and flour 50/50 for the batter. I bleed the fish and then once the blood is out I throw them on ice. Before I batter my fish I'll usually brine them in salt and a lime mixture. I also add paprika, chipotle, granulated garlic or powder, salt and pepper with the flour and cornmeal. Nice to see another recipe to try out though. Thanks man. 👍🎣
To get the best tasting flesh out of a catfish cut off all red blood/fat as well as the yellow fat strip in the flesh. That is where the muddy fishy taste comes from that make most people not like catfish. Also keep them alive until just before you clean them :) It took us several tries to learn the best way to get the best end product. Thanx for another great vid :)
Hey I don't know when you're going to get this message but did you ever try nesbic lake it's just north of Alamo it's up at Key Pittman you're allowed 50 catfish a person in one day
I tried cooking a catfish a couple weeks ago. NASTY... nice fillets, I cut the red all out of the white. They looked damn good but just tasted like mud or dirty water. I put them in a seasoned flour mixture. Then egg, and back to the flour. Damn it made a good crunch. I’ve never made it before but now people have told me to soak in salt water and lime or lemon. So first attempt gross. Going to try again sometime soon.
Bleed the cats.... cut their gills when they are alive and all the blood will come out fast and they die quick. As soon as they’re done bleeding out in a few minutes throw them on ice fast. Same with stripers... it makes a huge difference. It’s all about the field care of all game
Maybe I can suggest trimming off the yellow fat if possible and soak in a salt and lemon brine for a few minutes before cooking. I could be wrong buy you never know it might help.

So, I was looking for a reason my fish tasted icky...I didn't know the blood vein needed to be cut out like that. This helped a ton! 👍 Thanks!

Pro tip for frying: equal parts flour and corn starch. Only way to go!
What are those metal containers attached to the hood of your range oven? Are they magnetic? That seems super convenient.

How do your videos have so little views, you have 150k subs
TH-cam hates on hunters and PETA always reports my videos... I can’t win
i fry catfish in cornmeal
Still waiting on the lemon trick...
You must have missed it 😂 it was just a side cut... the seeds don’t come out
@crazy_ju YOO GO CHECK HIS TWITCH ITS ACTUALLY FIRE CONTENT!!!
Didn’t seem like any of that bread crumb made it onto your fish, 😂 Use wet coating first instead maybe.
I will come should you how to clear catfish property
I take the yellow meat off. The yellow meat is fat and can taste pretty strong.
@ Sin City Outdoors if you soak them in salt water for like 24 hours its pulls that blood out and leaves less of a fishy taste.
