Just finished setting up a V4 gyro with this 3PV remote and thought the same thing about the gyro gain not allowing me to go into the positive gain side (V4 only allowed Red/-settings) BUT I figured out that when you flip the “SW.1” switch that is what allowed me to toggle you then access the positive gain control (Green/Soft mode). Hope this helps someone else!
Wow, my mind is blown .. great info. I knew nothing about setting up a gyro or any of this before watching your channel Troy. I’m still stuck on the 39.00 dumbo’s, or old school futaba stuff
My Futaba 4PM is expected to arrive today, my RDS arrives tomorrow 😆😆Thanks for the video, I was curious about this process! Glad to hear the note at the end that I did the right thing and spent a little extra on my pick
@@RoadsideRC leave 3rd channel epa from 100 to 120%, then use the side slide button (you have 3 trims buttons on the side of wheel) to setup gyro from +100 to -100 to have both modes on gyro. If doesn't happen, go into menu and setup properly channel 3 mode (read manual ;) )
thank you so much you helped get my redcat back on track. im a little hurt by your review of the t3pv as i literally just bought it. sounds like its not a big upgrade from the stock remote.
I know it’s not the popular option for drifters (seems that Futaba and Sanwa are the go-to choices for higher end drifting), but another great option is the Spektrum DX5C. I would personally avoid the Rugged because of the POS “touch pad”, but the DX5C is really easy to setup and use for drifting. I’m gonna stick with my Futaba, but I started with the DX5C, and never had any complaints with it. If I’m honest, I like the feel better than the Futaba as well.
I use ch3 in the system tab. You can also assign ch3 to sw1 on your controller, and switch between avcs en normal mode like that. But then it's locked at 100%
I literally just did this on my setup, noticing that the CH3 adjustment was up to the limit of the CH3 trim top end. Saved my sanity figuring that out lol :D
The previous model, the T4PV was actually my main controller for quite awhile. So, whenever I tested new components - they were setup using that controller. Example: th-cam.com/video/nj7lHzI04HM/w-d-xo.html
Hi friend! Thank you for your video, just one comment, at the end you say that you recommend spend a few more bucks and buy a 4PM or a Noble intead of the 3PV, but this "a few more bucks" is twice the price of 3PV...
have not hold the RDS in my hand, but for what you get out of the box, RDS all the way. But, if you like the bling, as of right now, support for aftermarket is none existent out of what will fit on most chassis.
@@frozenshade666 my MST RTR drifts great out of the box. I have the 2.0 which is not very tunable but the 2.5 I heard is. RDS looks promising, but it seems like you need to tune it quite a bit to drift nice.
I'm running a noble Pro, I like that you can set channel frequency individually as my stuff support SR mode. Since you have both, personal preference between 4PM and NB4 ? Why?
That is really a tough question!!! For me - both controllers do everything I want them to do. The Noble gets extra points for the included power bank. The Futaba gets extra points for overall feel. I think both are a great choice.
I've been looking into the noble nb4, however I did notice that it's been discontinued do you have an alternative recommendation similar or would you still recommend the futaba 4 channel
Hey bud I have a rmx2.5 with stock gyro and servo and was setting it up and my epa on the same controller you have and it's only + 0 to 100 no - so I when I turn it to +0 it's still fast. Gyro never stops or slows down. Also I just bought a gyd470 will that work with stock servo. Have not installed yet and this radio. Thanks.
It will "work" - but be aware that many drift electronics seem to fight with Spektrum controllers. They are 100% on my "bad list" related to drift performance. If you already have it, and already use it for other RCs you own..then great. Give it a shot. If you just bought it expressly for this use, I would 100% return it and get something different.
@RoadsideRC oh no lol, I'm gonna try it as I don't have the box to return it will let you know when car is done building dc10 with hobbywing d10 xd10 combo. Got the spektrum cause I use to love there functionality when on road racing wish me luck
Thank you for that info. I was thinking with the Noble I could use positive and negative gain to switch between avcs and regular gyro gain. It’s my first drift car so I still have a lot to learn.
Question! I have a redcat RDS and I've got the 3pv and I'm setting it up and I cannot go into reverse! I've done everything you said to do in the video and idk what's going on? You have any answers that can help
Are you using the RTR esc? Typically a lack of reverse is due to either 1) a setting in the ESC to remove reverse, or 2) a poorly calibrated controller to ESC.
Hey Troy, I bought the 3PV for my MST and my servo does not work when the power comes on. It’s hard to the touch so you can’t freely steer the wheels with your fingers. Do you think it would be my servo or I just didn’t do it right? I did everything the same way you did if that helps
Hello Troy! I have T4PM plus and I have couple of secnds throthle delay after useing reverse. Is it some redio setting I have to change or adjust? Have been trying to solve this but still there is 2-3 second delay. What might be wrong. Everything eelse works fine.
I have not had this issue when the throttle has been calibrated with the eac correctly. Please give that another shot and make sure it works. Otherwise, the esc should be set to forward/brake/reverse, which means you need to double-tap the brake to get to reverse.
@@RoadsideRC I solved the issue. I have sensored motor, Hobbywing D10 and sensor wire was bad. I solder couple of those tiny wires and that delay is gone. But Thanks anyway for your comment. Appreciate it.

Hope you enjoy the RDS!
Awesome explanation well-done I just picked this 3pv 💯
Glad it helped!
Very useful information for rc radio good job
Glad to help!
This is going to be very helpful for me I ended up picking up this remote for my drift car and I am awful with electronics I am a total caveman.
Great! Glad to hear it!
Really well explained. Thanks for posting!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you!
The 3pv absolutely does ch3 in both directions -100 to +100. I had one and I could easily switch between The red and green modes on a gyd450
I couldn't get this one to do it!!! What did I miss?
STRM. That’s how it works on mine with a GYD450

Oh man! I tried Spektrum, I really did. But was never able to really get it to work correctly.
If you use the Ch3 Trim instead of Ch3 EPA, you can go positive or negative. Leave EPA maxed on Ch3.
That is odd - but I will 100% try it!

AVCS for the gyro is buried in the SYS menu a few layers deep. CH3 I believe. its the last option in the SYS menu before skipping to TRM

what would you recommend between futaba 3pv / futaba 4pm / flysky noble nb4?

So if I have my steering in 1 and esc in 2, where do I plug my motor fan into ?
Any free location - it doesn't matter.
