Very thoughtful questions posed by Prem. Very useful info provided by Mr Murugan. This video has prompted many mpre questions by NRI--- both residing in India and residing ourside India, particularly USA
Wonderful Initiative Prem & thanks to Murugappan. There are quite a lot of typical scenarios that won't fall under some generic information. Couple of things I'd like to highlight here and should we have some discussion forum to have them cleared from the group may be helpful. For ex. my friend Indian pp holder and his kid also Indian PP holder, never been to India in the past 5 years & the kid haven't get a chance to get Aadhaar Card & PAN Card, he tried with various options but no luck so far. Similarly, accessing UIDAI from outside India I personally never succeeded including mAadhaar App.
@ArthiPrem Thank you so much for this video! It’s incredibly informative and helpful to me. Please continue creating such valuable content. @Artiprem, I am an US Citizen with OCI, I visited India, As explained in the video, Adhar official (operations Manager in Kilpauk office) also told we need to stay in India for 182 days atleast to get Aadhar. With work and other reason in the period of a year it is not realistic to stay 182 days. Also according to law it is not required to have Aadhar for OCI but in every local office people with lack of OCI requirement knowledge they ask for Aadhar and they don’t Understand even if we explain. It really getting hard when we deal with properties. I hope Government take steps to make them understand OCI requirement knowledge
Agreed .. 182 days is not so realistic Should change the requirement Nowadays, in all government offices, the first thing they usually ask for is Aadhaar.
You should stay minimum 180 days at once to qualify for aadhar. Many oci holders brush this off when I tell them. No one will catch you specifically for it - but if are caught for something else they can target you with that.
Thanks to both of your reply. Officer said with in a year it should be 182 days cumulatively not continuously. But either way it is hard for any one to go and stay leaving Job here that too in this current job market
@@spkathir thank you! I do have PAN, applied to US address and received. No I did not face any problem yet as I did not sell anything. But I do see hassle without Aadhaar. Thanks to everyone involved in this discussion. This may help others who is sailing in same boat of me.
The Aadhaar form has an option to apply as a NRI. However the system is not well supported; seems it can only take the Indian passport “and having Indian address” as the document proof!! Moreover if one has to be considered/apply as a resident, I think ideally the system should be 183 days not 182.
In ICICI you can update to USA mobile number for OTP, also in Jio 1st time you activate 28 days Roaming after that you just maintain some amount that is pay as go option.. in that incoming sms is free
Prem, At Present, I guess there is no option to get an Indian credit card for NRIs. Pls post a video if there is an option to get credit card for NRI. btw, as always great info.
But instead of using UPI in a foreign number, why not just use a credit card with no FX fees such as a BoFA travel credit card ? Because I don't see any advantages of using it inspite of incurring FX charges
Hi bro Yes if anyone able to get the international credit card with no transaction fees then its the cool option !! 💯 If anyone is not able to get international credit card with no extra fees for the transactions then UPI would help them to do seamless purchase across some countries
@@ArthiPrem I agree! Moreover, personally, my stand is, any mode of payment that is superfast is risky. Sending money to anyone should always be a multi-step process and not at a click / tap of a button. If credit card fraud happens, you can claim fraud activity and block / reverse the transaction. However, if your phone is lost, the fraudster will have access to OTPs / access other sensitive information.
Yes bro But UPI payment is very common in india almost all the phones contains some sort of UPI payment provider Also we can enable two factor authentication on those apps, so we can prevent them to access it Even we used it when we were in india
@@gprakashonline Yeah true! But Discover is not widely accepted. Comes in handy as a choice though, along with any Visa cards such as BoFA Travel or SoFi Mastercard

ICICI has an option to open a NRI FD account linked credit card
@ this card applies only if you have FD and also with the value of FD deposit as a limit. It’s typically like a Debit card.
Not required to pay rs.800/- etc for sms. Just have BSNL with international sim. If you pay Rs 57/- per month, you can receive SMS from bank
I also have this, cheer up
Google voice is another option for call and SMS in india. please do a video on the google voice.
Sure Thanks !!
