There is quota for each type of applicant. HDB really cannot meet demand for many singles applying and these singles see the benefits owning their place as compared to those continuing staying with their parents.
Since demand so high, they should Enbloc older flats and build faster which is how the HDB program is meant to be initially instead of letting the 99years leases run out.
This will cost lots of money for the G to do this due to the high resale prices. But you will see lots of empty plots of land are now used for housing, from army camps, closed down schools, parks etc.
Many of My childhood friends stayed single … Why? We are the sacrifice generation during transition change of culture …. Bo Pian ! Sooner or later we become japan …
People not getting married. People widowed changing to smaller units, People who cannot afford higher priced units, people cashing in on a potential lobangs, various reasons.
@@stagerchannel Doesn't matter, it is still not enough to deter disingenuous buyers from getting a BTO for the purpose of selling it off after MOP. Genuine home buyers have to compete with these kinds of buyers, which pushes the prices even higher.
All s'poreans, including those from the opposition parties and their followers, benefit from the good work of the first-world PAP govt ranked the most effective in the world.👍👍
Ranked most effective, but effective against the citizens. Even this BTO, they still built too little, every batch is over subscribed. Why dun they use some brain and build more in advanced? If MCD only cook fries when customer orders, their business would shut down.
Why let the elderly apply for one room. When mostly they already own a flat. Leave the bto one room for the first time single. Let them fulfill their dreams of owing a flat.
@yakuniku-tf2ll we just hope this single bto can be more prioritised for real pink hardworking Singaporeans who are here to stay. Not PR or Singaporeans that buy BTO then technically not even staying in Singapore at all as investment property and hog chances.
HDB should consider reducing the lease for 2-room flexi flats for Singles to 60 years, enough till 95 years old. Prices could be reduced. As for the Plus and Prime flats, the lease should be reduced to 75 years, enough till 95 years old. Prices could be reduced. HDB should only introduce flats with below $ 500 k BTO price going forward with smaller flats and shorter leases. Those who can afford higher price should look for resale flat instead and not jam up with the other BTO applicants.
It isn't just singles applying for these 2-room flats. Old people and married couples also make up a significant portion of the applications
Can you prove via independent audit of hdb database?

Singles demand already so high and yet there are people pleading for govt to reduce the minimum eligible age to 25...
This means short of supply. Does this not jack up prices?
Yes finally someone gets it. Sporeans dun understand concept of many hands make light work. Just invite more contractors simultaneously
Is always not enough..
Singapore is heading the direction of Japan. I see a lot of loneliness soon.

The claw back of 6-9% is nothing man. It won't deter anyone from trying to get their hands on the next lottery flat. 😑
This is on top of resale levy if I not wrong

In most europe countries, singles pay higher taxes.
this reflects a bigger problem of singles not getting married and setting up baby nests!

SG govt worship gold. So like the Aztecs.. they will not hesitate to sacrifice the next generation to keep the world spinning😅
Think about it, they are encouraging them to downgrade to get the proceeds so that their existing flat could be passed over to another growing family.
Not bad, if I am single within the HDB BTO income ceiling
If I get the singles BTO, I will rent out and stay with my parents.
Woohoo.
