Nice video. Great technical details of the design and build. Of course the "master-plan" idea might not pan out - and that seems the sticking point of most of the comments. But I would rather be hopeful of the future and resurgence of countries in the region, like Cambodia. I like the "big infrastructure" focus of this channel. Thanks!
Kampuchea is forging its own path. Are there things it can learn from other countries? Of course, including Singapore. With this new airport Kampuchea is hoping to fuel the growth of its economy by providing a world class facility. The country needs it.
8:53 "Infrastructure does facilitate growth" Have you been to Sihanoukville, just a few hours south of Phnom Penh? It's a large ghost town full of empty unfinished Chinese apartment buildings. Not that I don't wish Cambodia a prosperous future, heck I'm leaving tomorrow for a 6 month stay in the Kingdom of Wonder. But this video can use some context and a more modest presentation.
I don't know if I missed it but what would the temperature be where the humans are? If it was -10°F that would make it 94°F, still a pretty miserable temperature. Anyways good for the environment!

Angkor City used to be the world biggest city in the middle age. Rome used to be the biggest empire, and still fall. Everything rises and falls. Everything changes except the change.

from what I searched the word Techo in their local language refers to a person with high societal rank especially in the army. If you wonder why everything is named Techo in the country, think of it as the “Turkmenbashi” but instead of Turkmenistan, it’s south east asia instead.
Excellent video but Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!
Its nice to see Cambodia making an effort to further improve its country in the economy sector but to compare it to the level of Singapore? Now that's too huge of a margin...I doubt Cambodia can ever reach the level of success Singapore is at. The effort Singapore put in is phenomenal to get where it is today, and an airport being built definitely will not change anything if its compared to Singapore
As a cambodian myself, i would say that the title is just "too much." Cambodia still have a long way to go to be fully developed like those of neighbouring countries, let alone singapore. But I must say that Cambodia nowadays strives to improve and develop as much as it can, and you can see that if compared to 10 20 years ago, Cambodia is way better now.
Just to add for better context: Cambodia recently opened the new Siem Reap Airport. Also hoping that there will be better city-to-airport link with this one - the motorway connecting the current Phnom Penh Airport and the city is always congested...
That's why I hopped the local bus and relaxed until I saw the river . The new Siem Reap airport is WAY too far out of town . It was built by and for Chinese purposes
Cambodia went through one of its darkest times between 1975 and 1979, with nearly 3 million lives lost to genocide. Even though the country has faced enormous challenges and hardships, its people have never stopped pushing forward. Over the past few years, Cambodia has been developing rapidly, and I believe this project will create even more opportunities, especially in tourism, helping boost the economy. There’s a real sense that brighter days are ahead for this kingdom.
Nowadays, Cambodia can hire bright minds on the international talent market who co-create the future of the country. No need to depend on in-house talent only. Japan must be eagerly ready to dig a tunnel for an express trainline from and to the airport. It may cost another billion actually. But why not?
I first went to Cambodia in 2011 and the difference from then to now is crazy. Still a poor country but far more developed than it was. You can visibly see the improvements in so many ways. Such a friendly country too. They'll do well one way or another because of this

Macau's main income comes from all the taxes that the casinos pay. During the pandemic Macau closed its borders and the casinos basically went into limp mode. Meaning the the economy practically collapsed in Macau. Though the government had such a large stack of money that they kept people in the country* happy with stimulus packages and yearly pay outs of money. This meant of course that the economy on paper collapsed even more. Though after Macau opened again to the rest of the world the economy quite quickly jumped back into high gear. Tourists are flowing back into Macau now and therefore the tax dollars to the government is also flowing back in again. Basically the economy of Macau is simply returning to where it should be and quickly. Therefore the 27% increase. It will slow down as soon as the economy more or less gets back to the 2019 level and returns to normal growth.
This country has gone through so much but its people remain one of the kindest in the world. I hope Cambodia can move forward (not as amazing as Singapore) but still move forward at the best they can.
Cambodia started ahead of Singapore during the late 60s, with Lee Kwan Yew even aspired Singapore to be like them. However, 50 years later Singapore is leaps and bounds ahead of Cambodia. So it's all about the people, and not about the country itself.
Source? I only know Cambodia has a sad history during the 60s to 80s. Singapore is always vibrant and prosperous because it is the most important port along the straits of Malacca even 100 years ago rule by the British.
As a Singaporean, it's amazing to see Cambodia taking a page out of Lee Kuan Yew's book. Airport is the first and foremost impression of the country. This will help Cambodia attract businesses to flow in and generate more jobs for Cambodians.

I recognize the scale and national hopes are quite different than this video’s subject, but the rebuilt terminal at Portland International Airport (PDX) is a really interesting architectural and construction story. Kind of surprised B1M hasn’t covered it.
Projects in the USA seem to be an afterthought in video reviews, at least when it comes to the flashy stuff. USA's few % GDP growth is still more construction building than these nations at full clip, due to sheer size alone. I guess it's considered rather ordinary here, where it's a big deal in a nation that was 50 years ago going through ethnic cleansing. Just the nature of it i suppose. I find stuff in the USA to be more interesting, these videos are cool but they're kind of thin on details so not really missing out on much tbh.

This development will position Cambodia as a stronger regional hub, contributing to long-term economic growth and prosperity.
(Phase 1 of Techo Takhmao International Airport is expected to begin operations in 2025)
Soon we will see the new International Airport of Cambodia 🇰🇭💙💙💙
congratulations for the quality of your videos
Cambodia deserves all the good luck it can get
No way
I work in Phnom Penh and the city is definitely on the up with buildings going up in every direction
Agree with comments…it’s more about how an airport can transform a nation when done well AND supported with an airline (ex: Singapore Air, Emirates, Etihad, etc). Luv the channel! ❤❤️❤️❤️❤️
even though I dont study or work in a field closely even related to construction im so interested in cool building projects, this channel is a blessing
Very impressive architectural design. I'm happy for Cambodia! Philippines when? We're still stuck in NAIA as one of the worst airport.
I had 2 wonderful years working in Phnom Penh, Cambodia! Sending my Love to Khmer Friends!
Your video is a well-produced and informative piece that effectively conveys the importance of the Techo International Airport. I'm really excited about the potential of the Techo International Airport to boost tourism and attract foreign investment to Cambodia. It could be a major game-changer for the country's economic development, infrastructure, and international connectivity.
Thank The B1M for the amazing video of Cambodia
Nice video. Great technical details of the design and build. Of course the "master-plan" idea might not pan out - and that seems the sticking point of most of the comments. But I would rather be hopeful of the future and resurgence of countries in the region, like Cambodia. I like the "big infrastructure" focus of this channel. Thanks!
Amazing Cambodia, a rapidly developing country in Asia 💪
Kampuchea is forging its own path. Are there things it can learn from other countries? Of course, including Singapore. With this new airport Kampuchea is hoping to fuel the growth of its economy by providing a world class facility. The country needs it.
I am wishing all the best to our neighbor country! I can tell it will become phenomenal when it finishes. Sending love from Thailand ❤
The situation in Sihanoukville is being addressed. It will get sorted.
Cambodia has huge tourism and business potential given its location and interesting history from Angkor Wat to the Khmer Rouge.
What a building 👌
I don't know if I missed it but what would the temperature be where the humans are? If it was -10°F that would make it 94°F, still a pretty miserable temperature. Anyways good for the environment!
Been keeping track of this building for years now. I remember the renders back 6 years ago before my daughter was born. It look similar to the one in China.
@@realfoggy what does that even mean?
@@Player-fg4ub He explained the shape of the roof system and design of the building would be what would cool the building. He also mentioned the ambient temperature could get up to 40°C or 104°F. If the design of the building is what cools the air inside the building how cool could it possibly be made? I didn't think it was that tough to understand bud!
Title is senseless - aspiring is one thing, but Cambodia has a lot of harsh realities to face before they can compete with the likes of Thailand, never mind Singapore.
Cambodia is a beautiful country with great people, and this is a step in the right direction
I am not sure that trusting the Chinese is a good step forward for Cambodia.
@@dexterford8094 I'm not sure what a sensible, better alternative would look like for Cambodia. As long as it's something that gives them a kick-start, rather than using China to prop them up long term, then great.
There's a lot of exaggerated Sinophobia from Western perspectives.
@@nice1fam .... Cambodia has had a lot of bad luck in its history so I do hope they will get some real benefit from this rather than just being used by the Chinese like so many other places have been.
Angkor City used to be the world biggest city in the middle age. Rome used to be the biggest empire, and still fall. Everything rises and falls. Everything changes except the change.
this airport and the new canal to the capitol - halfway there - now they need the railways and highways!
As a Cambodian, the title is misleading. Cambodia is a developing country and have been growing. But will take some time to reached to Singapore level!
from what I searched
the word Techo in their local language refers to a person with high societal rank especially in the army.
If you wonder why everything is named Techo in the country, think of it as the “Turkmenbashi” but instead of Turkmenistan, it’s south east asia instead.
Really good looking city
Excellent video but Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!
You're correct!! I make a lot of money without relying on the government,

Wow I didn't expect to see a video of Cambodia on here! :D
Cool video! Maybe you could make a video about why Vienna has so many construction projects at the moment!
You're right !
Nowadays, Cambodia can hire bright minds on the international talent market who co-create the future of the country. No need to depend on in-house talent only. Japan must be eagerly ready to dig a tunnel for an express trainline from and to the airport. It may cost another billion actually. But why not?
Seeing the thumbnail photos for this story, my initial impression was how much this reminded me of New York's Penn Station (1910-63).
@0:30 conveniently leave out singapore to male cambodia the fastest growing economy in southeast asia
Let’s be optimistic and grow tgt SEA 😊
I first went to Cambodia in 2011 and the difference from then to now is crazy. Still a poor country but far more developed than it was. You can visibly see the improvements in so many ways.
Such a friendly country too. They'll do well one way or another because of this
As a Cambodian citizen, personally I don't think we will ever be like Singapore. We only want to be better than we were before and thriving for a better future.
Phnom Penh is an amazing city, very fast growing economy.
Looks very well thought out.
Wow - really thought the first picture was a forest. Good thing you straightened us out on that.
You seem to forget why Singapore got here today. Is there someone like Mr. Lee Kuan Yew in Cambodia that I didn't know about?
While undoubtedly he was a great man. It hard to replicate for various reasons including but most importantly that Singapore is semi dictatorship. So it requires not only a Mr LKY but the ability to force through reforms with out any backlash and that will not happen in most if not all countries. Look at UAE, Oman, Kazakstan similar outcomes with strong authoritative leaders and small populations
@@Sam-gs7ybdoesn’t Cambodia have Hun Sen? You don’t see him as a dictator? I know he recently “abdicated” the Prime Minister role to his son, Hun Manet, but c’mon, we know who really calls the shots…
Hun Sen and his son think they're Lee Kuan Yew. They're not.
@@carlramirez6339 yes, you’re not wrong about that. Though I see now that I could have phrased it better, what I was trying to get at was indeed about the quality of the leader, not if dictator was in charge (or not)
How would you know if you can't understand the khmer language? we have deputy prime minister Sun chanthol, he is an exceptional man. he is our Zhuge liang
Thanks B1M ❤
Kudos to Cambodia.. Love and support from India 🇮🇳❤️🇰🇭 God speed!
I'm surprised Netflix hasn't given Fred and his team a blank cheque. That special would go hard. *Fred VS The World*? 😉
Can someone explain how did Macao grew 27% in a single year?! 😮 that's crazy!
Tax evasion and legal casino where the house (i.e. the city) always wins.
shady bussiness
CHINESE MONEY 🤑🤑🤑
This canopy design reminds us of Kuala Lumpur International Airport terminal🤩.. And shout out its KLIA2 7:02🥰
KLIA hired a renounced Japanese architect to design the airport, it's a pity the airport is pretty badly maintained. The efficiency is LOL.
This country has gone through so much but its people remain one of the kindest in the world. I hope Cambodia can move forward (not as amazing as Singapore) but still move forward at the best they can.
Thank you 🙏💙
Very enjoyable as always 👍
0:33 Including Macau is like including Manhattan when you compare different states in the US
Very odd addition
YOur PM learn from us in the 1960...come to visiti our land before the US invade our land..SIngapore PM came to visit hoping Singapore can be like Cambodia back then
we have some good leaders at the moment. look at some of the speeches by our deputy prime minister Sun chanthol. he is an exceptional man

I’m from Cambodia and I’m exited for this airport
Ps: I’ve been thinking about if he is making a video about this
We hope the country of Cambodia will be the next future to look like Singapore. Please don't give up 💪❤️🔥🤩
Very nice. Thanks
