Back in the early 70's, I used to sing this Great tune with my group in the nightclubs...Not a Typical dance number but our audiences Loved hearing us play it!
Edgar has a saying he uses in his shows where he says someone once told him to lighten up and he took the advice and look what happened to him!! :) Edgar is just a good ol'boy out of South Texas. According to my friend he has no ego, no pretense, no "I'm a star" attitude. None of it. He eats with the crew. Hangs out with his band. Always jamming or working on his craft. He's just like you wish all stars would be. He knows he's lucky to be doing what he's doing. He does Texas proud.
Man, this takes me back. I think life was easier back in the days of the Winter Bothers and Co. God Bless all for the great music and memories! Go Johnny Go! and Edgar too.
Man, Edgar is an amazing singer, musician! This is LIVE! Holy smoke. Almost perfect vocal and sax performance. Dan Hartman is killing it playing keyboard and key bass too!
I love Edgar Winter and his voice is as perfect in this video as it was on the record. Better, even. What a great band The Edgar Winter Group was. Shock Treatment is a great album !
Out of many incredible EWG songs, this is my favorite. I'll never forget the first time I heard it, in my bedroom as a teenager. I recently played it for a 21 year old friend and he loved it! Excellence is timeless!
Hay Rick., Arthur Dietz here. Now 61 miss you a bunch. Liz, Chris P., Cunningham, Sandra Weber, Dave Beck, Teddy & Steve. Back in the day. Love the Jazz. Peace.
Great song, I'm glad it's on the 'tube! Thanks for posting it! This is one of those bands where rock and roll meets great musicianship! And I dig those mutton chops, too :)
The same goes for Johnny. I'm friends with both of 'em and they're great down to Earth guys as well as representing the tippy top of the entire musical spectrum. They do the human race proud!
Steve Mostek I saw them too, same line up at Oakland Coliseum, I recall the power going out and a impromptu keeping the show going till they fixed the problem. It’s been many years, I think they fixed it right away.
I stayed up the better part of a night shooting the breeze and playing pool with Edgar right around the time of this album. He was a regular guy besides being a consummate musician. He actually offered to jam with me then and there, but we had no place do it. Damn, talk about frustration.
Wow! Great bass playing by Rick Derringer. I've never heard a bass played quite like that. Interesting that the usual bassist, Dan Hartman (all round multi-talent) is on keys. Maybe both players wanted a break from their usual instruments....
No kidding!!! I didn't know Rick played bass and Dan played keys on this till now. I'm a huge Dan Hartman fan - He wrote 6 of the 11 songs on this LP(Shock Treatment)cowrote 2 more, and sang lead vocals on 5 songs. Also a huge Rick Derringer fan. Met him after a show in San Diego around '95. Real nice guy!
He plays that sax solo NOTE for NOTE from the album---I know -- I memorized it 30+ yrs ago---there are no live performers around anymore like what we had back in the day--this band was stacked with tallent
I doubt that there is an instrument on earth that Dan couldn't play. That man had music in his blood. And Rick, forget about it. I've spoke with Rick two times and he is a real down to earth guy. I never even saw or met Dan. I've seen Edgar a zillion times (I live in Texas) but have yet to meet him. A friend of mine played in his band for about six months and said he was one of the coolest and FUNNIEST guys on the planet. His rule was take the music serious but not yourself. Have a laugh.
@DMLinNYC One minor correction...Dan Hartman wrote the song according to the credits from both the vinyl album (bought it when it came out) and the cd.
Remembering what real music sounds like! Great base by Rick!
Back in the early 70's, I used to sing this Great tune with my group in the nightclubs...Not a Typical dance number but our audiences Loved hearing us play it!
Fantastic experience
Talent overload here. Winter, Hartman, Derringer,, are you kidding ???

great guys. Edgar, Rick, Dan, Chuck,... we miss you !
What a group of musicians!!!! They would scare the musicians of today off the stage!!!!
And rightfully so.
Edgar has a saying he uses in his shows where he says someone once told him to lighten up and he took the advice and look what happened to him!! :) Edgar is just a good ol'boy out of South Texas. Dan Hartman playing The ARP Bass with his left hand. Awesome.
Man, this takes me back. I think life was easier back in the days of the Winter Bothers and Co. God Bless all for the great music and memories! Go Johnny Go! and Edgar too.

Always one of my favorite songs..love the Saxophone solo!
Man, Edgar is an amazing singer, musician! This is LIVE! Holy smoke. Almost perfect vocal and sax performance. Dan Hartman is killing it playing keyboard and key bass too!
Along with his amazing songwriting & multi-instrumental skills, Edgar is one of the greatest singers ever! Great Dan Hartman tune. Band sounds great.
On the album he sounds like and sings as good as Stevie Wonder.
This song is so cool. I would always play it if I had a bit of success in anything I was trying to accomplish. Its such a feel good tune. Awesome.
I love Edgar Winter and his voice is as perfect in this video as it was on the record. Better, even. What a great band The Edgar Winter Group was. Shock Treatment is a great album !
He NAILS that sax solo note for note from the album
Yes Sir. Glad someone heard it. Every note, and more!
Out of many incredible EWG songs, this is my favorite. I'll never forget the first time I heard it, in my bedroom as a teenager. I recently played it for a 21 year old friend and he loved it! Excellence is timeless!
CLASSIC SONG THESE GUYS HAD IT DOWN!

The Winter Brothers. ' yes please.
I was lucky/smart enough to see Edgar and Johnny several times back in the day. No matter what show or band mates they had it was always awesome.
This guy, at one point was the King of Rock in N.Y.C.

@@mijolobo bro I was at that show too!
Saw the same line up in Oakland! Bad Company and Edgar were awesome. I remember Rick Derringer sprinting around the stage while playing killer guitar.

Wow! Great bass playing by Rick Derringer. I've never heard a bass played quite like that. Interesting that the usual bassist, Dan Hartman (all round multi-talent) is on keys. Maybe both players wanted a break from their usual instruments....
Damn. Forgot about this one!
They aced this live! What a sax player Edgar is or was among other instruments! Who's still alive? I know Dan Hartman died
No kidding!!! I didn't know Rick played bass and Dan played keys on this till now. I'm a huge Dan Hartman fan - He wrote 6 of the 11 songs on this LP(Shock Treatment)cowrote 2 more, and sang lead vocals on 5 songs.

Época de giro de la música pop
Buen jass
Great!!
damn he can sing! I'd like to hear him in a band with Gregg Allman.
I doubt that there is an instrument on earth that Dan couldn't play. That man had music in his blood. And Rick, forget about it. I've spoke with Rick two times and he is a real down to earth guy. As you say - the Top of the Tree - This is it
@DMLinNYC One minor correction...Dan Hartman wrote the song according to the credits from both the vinyl album (bought it when it came out) and the cd.
This Needs To be Included In DJT MAGA MOVEMENT. FJB..!..
Diamond dave was so influenced by this he did a cover during his solo days
estupendo tema
What instrument did this man not play?
Rick's on bass.
He is mostly known for his sax but his voice and range are un-matched IMO.
By the end of the show, Rick's bass was pregnant.
I think they should reopen Max K. for a Jazz Club.
Did one Crazy Summer brought anyone here?
i own this on 33.1/3 record
The keyboard guy is doubling the bass part on a synth.
That keyboard guy is Dan Hartman,...he wrote the song,...may he RIP.
Allen Lanier of blue oyster cult not on this list of well they were all too humble to be on any list
Calice que t laite. Mais toé, t'en joues du saxophone
