Hi! One secret trick is not visible is that each Pattern has its own 'Kit'. Meaning that, everytime switching to the next Pattern, the Parameter settings are Loaded to exactly how it is planned for the whole composition. This is a great way to keep everything tidy and not be scared about tweaking too much before progressing into the next Pattern.
Good point. Part of any type of performance is a familiarity and habitual connection with the medium. The value of learning technique only shines through after countless hours of practice. Practicing difficult or non-intuitive techniques over and over (especially song transitions and tough buildups) is the only way to success. The best performances are where the user *knows* his instrument so well that there is no barrier between his real-time expressive desire and its execution.
Echoing some of the other comments here, what baffles many users is how to summon and martial all the power at their disposal to structure and pull off a live performance. I too hope this series will feature both an overview and full in depth analysis of a live set. We know there are guys out there that can pull off amazing performances like this with these boxes......we just don't know quite how they do it....yet. thanks and keep up the good work !
The 'repeating' effect is done by activating the Lock mode ON within the Delay settings. In this video, there is a Delay FX on the Master Track which has the Lock mode ON. And the Delay is controlled via the Delay CTRL mode. Please note that when you set the Lock mode to ON, the repeating effect comes into effect if the Send value is set to 0.
Thanks for the feedback! There are several Scenes affecting the Master Track's Filter, some filtering on some track, RTRIG functions and reverse on some samples.
Love the last half of this video! Might have to finally get an OT--I recently got the A4, which I adore, and which plays so nicely with my MD and MnM. And, the A4's CV control of Minimoog Model D and Sequential Circuits Pro-One is a wonderful bonus. What a surprise to find an Elektron analog box that is capable of looping in vintage and modular gear. The OT's interface scares me a bit, but it does look quite fun, when one has taken the time to learn its secrets.
Superb to watch, heaven to listen to. If you will ever fancy to post some video teqnique tip I guess we will be million to appreciate! Wonderful mr data;
That is right. In this 'track' there are about 14 patterns. And each pattern progresses more into the 'track'. It takes sometime to get the Pattern Progression correct.
While in Step Edit more, hold one or more Steps in the sequence and change parameters. You will see on the screen that the graphics become inverted and the Step LED starts flashing - meaning that there is parameter lock data.
This is an amazing idea! The OT scares the hell out of me, and I would love to get a better sense of how to use it effectively, before taking the leap on it.
I'd love to see a breakdown of what's going on as well! Even just for a couple minutes, hard to see the screens to know what he's doing. Good stuff though, not complaining!
As andries vds mentions below, i think this series would be *vastly* more helpful if you had some sort of running commentary on what you're doing. Even a brief caption summarizing each tweak (i.e., "OT: X-fader assigned to AMP VOL on two tracks of top rhythm elements, switching scenes fades both tracks", that sort of thing). An interested viewer could easily pause the video, analyze each step, and really learn something each time. Really hope you'll do something like this in subsequent videos!
thanks for your videos, need a question, we have in sync digitakt with A4 AND monomachine, but when change patter not change the kit. example digitakt bank A1 (KIT DUB) TO A4 BANK A1 (KIT DUB) (SAME NAME OF KIT IN ALL MACHINES) JUMP TO : BANK B5 DIGITAKT (KIT HOUSE) TO A4 B5 (KIT HOUSE) NOT CHANGE TO A KIT HOUSE ONLY SYNC PATTERNS NOT KIT? THANKS AND SORRY FOR MY POOR WORDS
Thanks Cenk. I guess with "Kit" you mean the scenes and the triggers etc. Can you tell me how you do this repeating effect at 4:53-4:55? And for what do you use the delay control menu on the octa? Thanks in advance.
Can you tell me what kind of audio leads are being used; balanced or unbalanced? I know that the A4 has balanced outputs (although the probably all do) but the Octatrack only has unbalanced inputs. Thanks.
I love this track it really shows what the Elektron machines are capable of. Did you use overbridge during this performance or just sample the melody onto the Octatrack? I have three of these machines myself and I am still learning . Thank you
I've been thinking of stuff that would be useful for you to implement in future technology machine making product design: if a person could add accents to the sequences that would be great for synth and drum stuff, and
really nice set!!! how did you setup the program change messages? when i do this my patterns (md/mm) follow always 1 bar later. and i get starting problems when the octatrack is in song mode and the others in patternmode. tnx
+Rasmus Kjærbo you have to beat the tracks turn down , so from 4/4 to 1/2 ( = twice as long ) or 1/4 ( = 4 times as long ) so you can stretch very far , the limited 4 x 16 patterns ! goes all Elektron machines !
…what are the…i wonder rather…the costs per note…i wonder rather…what are the number of…knob turns…button pushes…shift shift shift commands…layered menu interactions…forced memorizing…teared hair…per note…
i think a lot of users would like to learn more from this video. maybe you can explain more what you're doing here. learn us the tricks pls. so how to do this or that effect. how to do this or that transition etc. that would make more sense. tnx anyway.
you guys really need to re release the monomachine and machine drum!
YES PLEASEEEE!
Monomachine, we need it reincarnated
@@mvd6432 They need Cenk back. Best person to promote their products they've ever had.
It's up use

Its a bummer that its not on new boxes like Digitakt... Would be a gamechanger

Nice comment ❤

Magic hands..
its datalines hands
maaan you are so junkie
Always good to see more transmissions from the mothership. Could use some youtube annotations though!
Love this particular setup! Program Change is amazing for the all-Elektron setup.
Fantastic example of what these mean machines can do!
This looks like a lot more fun than a DAW. Incredible performance.
Thanks for the feedback! There are several Scenes affecting the Master Track's Filter, some filtering on some track, RTRIG functions and reverse on some samples.

nice as usual. I agree with Dubathonic about the comments, especially when you can't see the video in full HD to clearly see the LCD screen content.
That's just phenomenal !! Excellent..

The amount of Practice + Preparation here is evident. :) Good job.
Old and new elektron... Great jam! 👍
This is some next level type jam. Cool
This track is legendary
thats going straight in my baskest! loveeeeee it!
Holy Moly... very ,very good job ;) very nice to see and hear!!! THX ;)

Cenk has become a mastermind of his machines, holy shit!! :D
I need to buy the Elektron Monomachine mk² so please reissue. I didn't get the chance to get one.
This is an amazing idea! The OT scares the hell out of me, and I would love to get a better sense of how to use it effectively, before taking the leap on it.
MD and MnM, best team ever^^
I'd love to see a breakdown of what's going on as well! Even just for a couple minutes, hard to see the screens to know what he's doing. Good stuff though, not complaining!
And not a keyboard anywhere to be seen. I like it. I am going to buy an Elektron Analog Four soon. THanks.
Thats how you do it!
Great!!!
this makes me wanna rob a bank :D
+
yesss
Or get a job.
Got them all, this guy is good!
Increible, no me canso de ver este video.
excellent.. ca donne envie de prendre un analog 4
wow that's fantastic ! Great job
Hi! Hmm, have you got the latest OS on the Mnm and MD? Does the Md and Mnm follow correctly when you have the OT running in PATTERN mode?
1:35 woooooooooooooooooooow! Amazing!
How are the 8-bar sequences achieved? Pattern chaining?
Deep and dark ... cool.
And to think this is all improvised, yeesh. That’s talent
transition at 3:06 is sick!
You can indeed do parameter locks on the Analog Four.
Well done!
This so awesome, i would like to learn it!

Yes sir. I'm jealous. Nice work.
Very cool boxes.
aside from the killer performance, i love the stickers on the octatrack and analog four :D
I like the machines with the bigger displays.
Loved it, great work.
Thanks
that was GREAT!
Really good......!
Muhtesem ! Respeckt !!
Love this!
no seriously ...this is out cold...rather beautiful really :D
Döktürmüs sün yine Cenk !!!!
lovely
what is up with those little faders on the ot screen?
Awesome Daniel!
When will the machine drum MK3 be released?
How is this happening? There isn’t enough machine drum content online for beginners.
Thanks Cenk. I guess with "Kit" you mean the scenes and the triggers etc. Can you tell me how you do this repeating effect at 4:53-4:55? And for what do you use the delay control menu on the octa? Thanks in advance.
!!!Amazing!!!
6:14 and up is dope!
1:29 in this bass is sick !
Cheers ...
самый лучший видос с данными аппаратами
yes. very, very cool.
Can you tell me what kind of audio leads are being used; balanced or unbalanced? I know that the A4 has balanced outputs (although the probably all do) but the Octatrack only has unbalanced inputs. Thanks.
great man !
Toss the Analog rytm in there and some modular and that’s my set up :)
Freaking amazing...
Is there a slow motion button on youtube? that would help. Man he is fast.
GOOD!
I love this track it really shows what the Elektron machines are capable of. Did you use overbridge during this performance or just sample the melody onto the Octatrack? I have three of these machines myself and I am still learning . Thank you
There was no overbridge at that time. pure hardware :)
Thanks WERK for confirming that for me, still that is incredible i am so impressed
it is incredible :) great skills
Awesome track! 0))
It's all clear now!
wow.... cooooooooool ;)
sick
tnx a lot!

Sick! 👽👍
really nice set!!! how did you setup the program change messages? when i do this my patterns (md/mm) follow always 1 bar later. and i get starting problems when the octatrack is in song mode and the others in patternmode. tnx
Try setting the program change before the start of the bar using the micro timing on the first trig perhaps?
I have A4 and Octatrack....how do I connect them, without laptop...
if anybody can help pls and thank you
Dragan Delic midi cables
midi out of octatrack to midi in of a4
I love the out of sync delay!
Should I sell my car and buy one? Do I need all four?
What sort of mixer/recording interface are you using to track this with?
Nice man! How do you make the A4 loop what seems like 4 times 4 bars of acid bass line at around 5min? Is it chaining 4 patterns?
+Rasmus Kjærbo you have to beat the tracks turn down , so from 4/4 to 1/2 ( = twice as long ) or 1/4 ( = 4 times as long ) so you can stretch very far , the limited 4 x 16 patterns ! goes all Elektron machines !
+tobymoby3 Haha, I think I get it. Will try when I'm in the studio next :) Thanks!
2:50 and on is some real jazz
…what are the…i wonder rather…the costs per note…i wonder rather…what are the number of…knob turns…button pushes…shift shift shift commands…layered menu interactions…forced memorizing…teared hair…per note…
Very tasty jam :-)
Cool
wow
i think a lot of users would like to learn more from this video. maybe you can explain more what you're doing here. learn us the tricks pls. so how to do this or that effect. how to do this or that transition etc. that would make more sense.
