In my opinion, A Short Hike is pretty much a perfect game. It's like a mini-open-world game, since there is little to no hand-holding and you can go your own way right at the start. Yet, since the world is so small, it doesn't repeat itself or become overwhelming. It's fun and relaxing to explore and discover, and the vibe is just wholesome the whole way through. For me, it was the perfect length, too.
It was good but I couldn’t complete everything cuz it was a lil confusing. I also wish the camera was free movement and not locked in place but other than that it’s such a good game
The ending hit me hard. Some of my most cherished gaming memories are of me spending hour after hour, diving as deep as I possibly can into the specific kind of escapism only video games can give. A Short Hike itself looks and sounds absolutely adorable, sweet, and beautiful. This video makes me immediately want to go and buy it
Man that ending really hit me hard. I went through a similar situation irl where there was this "call" I had to get. I more or less knew that it would be bad, but I held onto the hope that I'd be proven wrong and that it was actually a good thing waiting for me at that "mountain top". I was indeed proven wrong, and found out that what awaited me wasn't something bad, but rather something terrible. I don't know where I was going with this, but I guess I just felt like venting haha
This is one game I always recommend to anyone. I am the only person who has played it amongst my friends and family and have no one to talk to about it. I think the graphics throws them off but it adds so much charm to the game on top of everything else you mentioned. Thank you for this. This games deserves everyone's attention...hope is powerful.
Though the graphics can be changed and a just found out about it while tinkering some settings . I really like that the dev added this option as the big pixels are too big for me so I use medium
I LOVED THIS GAME, it was just PERFECT cozy game that you actually do stuff, mainly hiking, climbing, flying and hack even fishing. i loved that fishing was easy and fun, it was awesome!
Thanks for reminding me that I need to replay this! A Short Hike is what tends to come to mind first when I think of my favorite indie games of all time.
A short hike just have the right feels for what I want. I feel extremely relaxed and happy just playing it. On top of the vibes, it just plays and is designed so well. I absolutely love it.
I love what I have played of this game. After trying elden ring, starfield, tears of the kingdom, and persona 4, this was just a breath of fresh air and what I needed that evening
Great video and explanation. "Because of it you're unable to play more JRPGs" ^^ but also you're able to use the time you have to do exactly that. Basically, embrace what you have and make the most of it.
A cousin of mine recommended this game to me, and wow am I glad I picked it up. It's just such a cosy game with good vibes =) If you liked "A Short Hike", I can recommend "Crato", "To The Moon" and "Venba", all short and heartwarming games with little challenge. I would say "Crato" is the most challenging of the bunch as there are some puzzles you need to figure out that I at least had a bit of difficulty with.
Honestly? This is one of my favourite games. I made a friend of mine play it on my Switch and finished it in one sitting. Now it's one of her favourite games too. Do yourself a favour and play this game. It's short, sweet, fun, charming and cheap, you won't regret it
I have bought 4 copies of this game... Minimum I bought friends copies of this game because I loved it so much and because of how easy it is to get into

The conclusion of a short hike is the most satisfying one I've experienced in a long time. You'll know what I'm talking about when you finish it.

Great video as always. The game looks fun.
Okay man yea but what about the indie game NO ONE can enjoy?
Don’t give away meaningful plot moments in a review 😤
thanks, i'll just go on a hike irl
That's what I'm sayin, tymon. Who needs Van Gogh's Starry Night when you can just go outside after it gets dark. Truly, all art is bullshit.
