Just need to tell you: you have given me the confidence to adjust my clothes that NEVER fit for 60 plus years! I call my “body type” a “tube” aka no butt or hips, big waist and boobs that seem to grow with my waist. Last measurement: 44, 42, 43 - a tube. Been a tube all my life and I’m short so clothes never, ever have fit me! Until now. I shop thrift shop clothes and refit all my garments to my body, thanks to you! First time comfortable in my clothes. Your wonderful teachings have given me that. Thank you! Sorry so long, just had to let u know.

Great re-use of a shirt! I took Alterations at a city college and my first project was to alter a blouse from a thrift shop. That was in 2004 and I still love that blouse's fabric. Maybe I will reconfigure it again! Yesterday, I finally found my tub of ribbing, so that can be used for some thrift store finds. I'm a grandma who has been sewing since I was nine years old. Thanks and I subscribed today.

Thank you, Catherine! Because of your videos, I got the nerve up to take apart a baggy sweatshirt partially, removed the bottom band and hemmed it, took out the extra fabric on the sides, recut and raised the armscye so the sleeves that I thought were too long turned out to be the right length. I learned to sew back when I was a perfect size 12 Simplicity pattern, so I didn't really learn fitting. 50 years and 3 kids later, I need to fit things. Anyway, now I have a tunic length sweatshirt that fits! Thanks again!

i recently altered a pink button down mens shirt. I cut the sleeves off at the cuff then i folded the cut edge up and sewed it then added an elastic so i can push the sleeves up. The cuffs i serged the edges and added lace then turned them upside down, feels feminine. I added a heart shaped lace piece of fabric in the front where the buttons are to cover a stain and it feels super feminine and i love it! I had another shirt that i put on over my head and altered this so i could open the shirt up instead of putting on over my head. I cut the collar off and wear the collar around my neck still while its unattached to the shirt. Its super cute and i love it more now!! Cutting the cuffs off and putting elastic i love too!!

I probably would have bound the neckline first then sewed the fronts together. you can als sew them by hand from the back.

Want a serger so bad, any recommendation on the new ones out there? Would get free lessons with new one, but will just keep watching you, love your voice as you teach, I loved my Home Ec teacher, 😘♥️🦋

Sylvia, if I was buying a new serger today, I'd treat myself to a BabyLock Victory. They're amazing! And really easy to thread and to use. Thanks for your sweet comment.

I have a couple of shirts with frayed collar and cuffs. This would be a great way to get a few more years out of them.
