      @@MadMusicBand I have been playing wind controllers since 1984 (Lyricone2). Only ran into one musician that kind of thought he knew what they are. Fascinating! I actually have the Irin S56 and S58 (this year’s model) - and they’re excellent little EWIs for the money. I’ve found that the controls and configuration are better on this years model (S58) but the bluetooth midi connection on the older S56 is much better and connects nicely to my android devices where I use Fluidsynth with assorted soundfonts - and SynprezfmII which is an excellent FM synth which you can configure to use cc11 instead of cc7 - which is needed on the ‘less-expensive’ instruments. I don’t have issues with usb-midi so I like them both and the S58 is closer in ‘feel’ to the Clarinii. At the prices of the Irin instruments it’s worth having either of them as muck-about instruments - and they’re a great deal of fun. Note that the S58 is quieter than the S56 - but it feels nicer to play - and if you have a BT speaker with an aux-in - just cable them together and the bigger speakers sound much better!

    Finally an open minded review from a musician!!! And it looks like you are passing it on to your lucky students.
    I use AE05 in a big band with SWAM sounds. Have a WARBL2. The amp you use is important.
    They could reduce the price, which is reasonable, by removing crap sounds and use an app to remove the screen.
    Had a Vendor Es1 about the same size that had a SD slot to load sounds. No longer in production but it was unique
    Does the motion vibrato and pitch bend transmit via midi or does it just work with onboard sounds?
    Forget Android for midi sounds. That is most likely you problem getting BTle to work with other apps. iOS devices are designed for this. That is your problem with the AE05. Get a iPad or iPhone if you want to have access to high quality midi stuff.

      It's a midi instrument first, that also functions as a standalone instrument. Pretty sick if you ask me. You're the first person I have ever seen complain about a midi instrument not having "premium sounds". Last time I checked, midi controllers don't produce sounds but only control it.

    If I was this company I would focus on creating aa community for it. Allow premium users to create and sell their own sounds. Making sounds available that no other instrument would have, making money off premium and any fee to sellers. Starting a store for selling sounds will not work. YOu have to sell the community, the community support that will be created to make buyers chose this instrument specifically because of resource availability. If this is limited, others in the future will create a less restricted clone and the product will fail in the long run.

    Video is 44 minutes long, been out for 22 minutes, and people are already hating on it lol.
    To be fair, calling an "EWI" an "instrument" at all is kind of a stretch in my opinion. Theramin and Stylophone, while also like computers, require an input to make any sound, and cannot play pre-recorded things. If this can play things without any input, it's not really an instrument anymore, it's a Recorder-shaped MiDi controller.
    Edit: Typo

    • @MadMusicBand
      @MadMusicBand  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had a college friend play a John Cage piece in college where he mic'd a cactus... Everything can be an instrument 😂 to be fair though, this isn't unlike an electric piano where the sounds are "in it" but still need user input to bring them to life. I don't have any problem with crazy new age stuff, if I can make it sound cool I'm all for it.

    • @bigpapi1860
      @bigpapi1860 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MadMusicBand Fair enough, I guess we just agree to disagree on what our definition of an “instrument” is. I’d say MiDi devices don’t count, but since someone playing on a Midi controller keyboard could ALSO easily play a real piano (as soon as they get adjusted to the action), I’d also say that they can “play an instrument.”
      With this device though, it doesn’t seem like it teaches you ANY of the skills necessary to create a decent sound with a real wind instrument, beside basic fingerings (that are apparently adjustable, so even saying that is a stretch)

Maybe change the over-all pitch a step lower and set your "normal" at whatever horizontal level brings the instrument into tune. Then you'd have a range in which to move it up and down.
