The stock sounds are junk toys. If they wanted to make a great product, they’d have included premium sax, flute, oboe, recorder, and a few more horns. Who wants a square wave woodwind? Good product spoiled by marketing decisions.
Video is 44 minutes long, been out for 22 minutes, and people are already hating on it lol. To be fair, calling an "EWI" an "instrument" at all is kind of a stretch in my opinion. Theramin and Stylophone, while also like computers, require an input to make any sound, and cannot play pre-recorded things. If this can play things without any input, it's not really an instrument anymore, it's a Recorder-shaped MiDi controller. Edit: Typo
I had a college friend play a John Cage piece in college where he mic'd a cactus... Everything can be an instrument 😂 to be fair though, this isn't unlike an electric piano where the sounds are "in it" but still need user input to bring them to life. I don't have any problem with crazy new age stuff, if I can make it sound cool I'm all for it.
@@MadMusicBand Fair enough, I guess we just agree to disagree on what our definition of an “instrument” is. I’d say MiDi devices don’t count, but since someone playing on a Midi controller keyboard could ALSO easily play a real piano (as soon as they get adjusted to the action), I’d also say that they can “play an instrument.” With this device though, it doesn’t seem like it teaches you ANY of the skills necessary to create a decent sound with a real wind instrument, beside basic fingerings (that are apparently adjustable, so even saying that is a stretch)

Re: Pitches. Couldn't you just mentally define some horizontal level of the instrument as "normal" and then tilt/pitch up and down from there? Maybe change the over-all pitch a step lower and set your "normal" at whatever horizontal level brings the instrument into tune. Then you'd have a range in which to move it up and down. I don't think a Bluetooth connection is going to be good enough to perform tho. if that technology existed bands would justbbe monitoring via Bluetooth a lot time ago.
It was good enough for my rehearsal last week, but I agree about performance. Bluetooth as a technology isn't consistent or fast enough for that.

I am waiting for hear the sound of this instrument... 23:36 hs
Haha, expected for an instrument, found a sword to learn kung fu :)

Half that price on China Taobao.
Answer= neither.
The stock sounds are junk toys. If they wanted to make a great product, they’d have included premium sax, flute, oboe, recorder, and a few more horns. Who wants a square wave woodwind? Good product spoiled by marketing decisions.
@@DrDaveElliott SWAM apps are the best for acoustic wind instrument emulation.
I’d say MiDi devices don’t count, but since someone playing on a Midi controller keyboard could ALSO easily play a real piano (as soon as they get adjusted to the action), I’d also say that they can “play an instrument.”
With this device though, it doesn’t seem like it teaches you ANY of the skills necessary to create a decent sound with a real wind instrument, beside basic fingerings (that are apparently adjustable, so even saying that is a stretch)
@@bigpapi1860 it's definitely not a replacement, for sure.

I fill in for missing instrument in a big band. I beg to differ that wind controllers with proper software and amplifier is not a replacement for acoustic instruments.
@@fgerv true, I haven't personally dabbled in the higher quality patches or instruments, so I bet when you get to a certain level they probably sound really good
Reedless?
Yup, no reed on this one.
i wonder if a left handed version exists...
Not for the Clarii mini, though you could get fancy with custom fingerings to make it work.

I am still not seeing anything sword-like, where's my promised sword? Alright keep watching, but there better be a sword. 😂😂😂😅
Edit: found the sword doesn't really feel like the sword I was hoping for.
Con: You wouldn't be able to move and dance around all fancy while playing.
I don't know what I'm talking about. lol
